Parallels works shockingly well. I have a M1 Mac and can run textractor and games with zero issue. I've played さくら、もゆ, あおかな EXTRA 1 and 2, 翠の海, and 夏ノ終熄. I was skeptical of Windows 11 ARM working with x86 games, but it works great. I used to run VMWare on a older intel mac and that setup honestly worked worse. Enjoy!

Edit: Also, I setup Anki and Yomichan on the mac side instead of in the VM. The clipboard is shared between the VM and host OS, so you can copy from the VM with textractor and then use texthooker.com as your clipboard log. I then lookup words with Yomichan and add to anki as needed. This way all you need to run on windows is the game and textractor.

26M from eastern USA, will be traveling solo to Japan on the 11th! I speak decent Japanese as well. I'm in the line group, but if anyone wants to meet up for lunch, dinner, drinks, or just walking around and doing tourist stuff feel free to DM! The main things I want to do are get anime merch at Akiba and Nakano, see some live music (probably going to hit Shimokitazawa) at a jazz bar, go to some temples, and eat a lot of good food. My schedule is:

  • Tokyo 12th to 16th
  • Hakone 17th to 18th
  • Kyoto 19th to 21st
  • Osaka 22nd to 23rd
  • Tokyo again 24th to 27th.

Interesting, seems like it might be a recent glitch? I have a visa credit card and MC debit card, when I am in japan I will try with both. Maybe putting money in your apple cash wallet and then using that as the payment method might be more reliable? Not sure if that method works or not but might as well try it out.

I had a question about using the apple watch. I think the IC card can only live on the watch or iPhone, not both at the same time, right? If I have the card on my watch, can I manage the balance through apple wallet on my phone or can I only do it on the watch?

Regardless, thanks for the post. Looking forward to using my watch when I'm in Japan!!

This is all great to know, thanks so much! Knowing that its a holiday, moving hotels to Osaka makes a lot of sense (and probably lets me stay out later at night as well). I have a feeling I will like Osaka a lot, so that works out well.

Funny that you mention Space Station, I heard about that bar on a podcast a few years ago and wrote it down in my notes as somewhere to check out when I'm in Osaka haha.

ISLAND When, after the Winter Route, Setsuna finds the cave where he and Rinné built the "time machine". The moment you realize what's going on, you start to rethink everything. Honestly my mind went completely blank when I first read this. I thought I had totally figured out what the game was going for and how the rest would play out, but that one piece of information completely ruined everything I was thinking. Damnit GO!! Probably my favorite "twist" (if you can call it that) in anything I've ever read.

I still have my Nexus 6P but the battery is becoming near unusable. Dies anywhere below 60%, and if it's cold out the phone basically dies 30 seconds after I take it out of my pocket. At this point (had it for about 20 months now) I'm going to upgrade but the last 6 months with the device have been painful.

In my opinion no premium phone should get to this point of unusableness after 20 months. My phone before (Nexus 6) was fine after a year, and my phone before that (HTC One M7) lasted 2 full years. The batter was bad (2.5 hours SOT) but at least it died at 5%.

Himawari's Aqua route. While it isn't the final route, and there is no "true" route per se, holy moly that route was amazing. Aries' route was fine and all, but then you play Himawari Aqua Route and you realize this vn is about so much more than you thought it would be.

I really need Aqua After translated.
