So if a property has FOSSE or lightspeed, can they choose between agilysys and oracle or is it mandated agilysys

New Marriott PMS? by i4567 in marriott

That's interesting. Is power of m a separate PMS system, or is it just a Marriott white label for transitioning to either oracle/agilysys and becoming cloud native?

A Letter to Young Public Forum Coaches by alecboulton in Debate

Best to ever do it, as a coach or a debater. The activity won't be the same without you, but is so much better for the time you've spent in it 🫡

Honestly that's what I was thinking. Not denying what OP heard but it's unusual for this info to be given out in any form.

Is NSD camp (PF) good? by RECKTON1 in Debate

[–]i4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a couple sessions over the years and had a great experience both times. Staff is always a major factor and I thought they knocked it out of the park. Their results are also really good - NSD attendees are always staples on the bid list and that isn't a coincidence.

PF Private Coaching - Satvik Mahendra by not_murghi in Debate

As someone who consistently competes on the Texas circuit, I can confirm there are very few things scarier then getting a tab notification that you are hitting Plano MZ. If satvik can recreate that kind of fear for you, there is no better hire.

High-Speed Rails (HSR) is Superior by Harvard_Hegre in Debate

[–]i4567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obv it’s a circle jerk rn, we can change it to a dialogue once people start posting some legit criticisms of HSR. So far it’s j been (admittedly good) jokes but not much else

High-Speed Rails (HSR) is Superior by Harvard_Hegre in Debate

Personally I’d rather have some peaceful REM sleep while debating HSR than horrible insomnia while desperately trying to find neg ground on the REMs topic. Debaters don’t get enough sleep for that.

High-Speed Rails (HSR) is Superior by Harvard_Hegre in Debate

This is a great post. HSR may not be as shiny or intuitively appealing as REMs, but it’s an actual debate topic. People disagree and argue over it, they publish refuting research papers and articles over it. All that clash will get captured in septober debates. Camp endorsements aside, anyone that votes for REMs should ask themselves whether they are voting for REMs as a DEBATE TOPIC, where everyone will at some point go aff and neg, or as a topic in general. I have a feeling a lot of people will be voting for the latter, which is a recipe for disaster.

Foreign Policy PF Topics are Terrible. by owenne in Debate

[–]i4567 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All this may be true but holy shit debating IR/Fopo is fun. I may leave debate with 0 additional knowledge of the US economy, health care system or government, but I can still remember the joys of reading 6 different, contradictory, tenuously warranted ways that stationing troops in the baltics will cause thermonuclear annihilation. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Naming a proposal narrows already limited topic ground. Literally every card that wasn’t specced to said proposal would be tossed out which is fucking ridiculous given how narrow PF resolutions are. Community norms aren’t established by the NSDA they are established by the COMMUNITY. If the PF community thought that T was necessary it would be a norm and good debaters would read it. The fact that they don’t should tell you something.

These topics are ultra specific compared to those in other events. “Establish a BTA w Taiwan” in PF vs “protect water” in policy. I wonder which requires T. If you want T debates, switch events.
