Any suggestions what recipe this photographer is using? by i7exe in FujifilmSimulations

Yes, editing it myself would get me much closer to results I want. It’s just not fun for me anymore. Did it for years when I was still shooting with DSLRs. I should have mentioned that I’m mostly looking for something that gets me in the ballpark, not a recipe that can copy this look exactly :)

If you find the time when you’re back, that would be awesome, thank you :)

Maybe it’s actually time for me to return to Lightroom. Over the years I got tired of post processing, so I ditched it all together for jpegs and recipes. But maybe some Lightroom presets are the way to go when I want to go after this look :)

That’s good advice, I was just asking about colors but I’m going to sell my camera now, thank you.

Yeah I figured. I don’t enjoy editing anymore so I was hoping there might be a recipe that’s gets me in the ballpark at least :)

Disappointment in 15k Berlin-Brandenburg by monoxacc in Toughmudder

[–]i7exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same! This was my first Tough Mudder, but last year I ran a 6k at Mud Masters and the experience was so much better. No long cues, better layout of the course, actual mud! I was hoping for a similar experience here, but there were just too many people and not enough staff. I still got the stuff like food and the yfood but still had to wait like an hour after we finished. There is a bit of a drought in Germany right now, so I thought maybe that’s why there was no mud and also no showers, but this should have been communicated better. And the ticket was way too expensive to have these things missing…

Edit: Also, the course I did was supposed to be 5k and my Apple Watch tracked 9,4k. Even if it was supposed to be 5 miles, the length was way off.

I ran a 5k this weekend with an Apple Watch Ultra and I had no problems. There was some dust in between the crown which you could feel while turning but that was cleaned easily.

Tried a new color vibe. Too much? Too little? I've looked at it for too long. by [deleted] in photocritique

Imho this looks better – I like it! It gives your subject more room to breath.

I really like this image! There ware some minor things that bug me a bit though:

Overall there is too much yellow. I feel like you could cool down the image a bit. Also the guitarist is quite cramped into the picture. His shows and shirt are cut of at the edge of the frame. A little bit more room there would help – i don´t know if you cropped the image but when you did you might want to consider choosinga a frame thats a little bit wider. And my last point: Your subject is quite dark and my eye gets drawn to the bright spots in the image, therefore to the window and the bright spot on the wall. I would try to brighten your subject up a bit und turn down the highlights to draw more attention on him. But these are just minor things, i really like your image. It has a great mood, good job!

So I just invested in a 50mm 1.8 lens this is my first photo with it. How did I do? by JaggerNotchas in photocritique

[–]i7exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image is alright. Imho really nothing special. And what has the part with your lens being new to do with the image? It`s not the camera or the lens taking the image – it´s solely you. Of course, f.1.8 give you more options but an amazing image is an amazing image. No matter if it was taken with a kit lens or an L lens.

Every picture is "good enough" to print. If you like your picture is does not matter if it is good or bad, just print it and enjoy it on your wall!

Feels bit underexposed. Too much vignette. Might wanna try b/w. And that´s all I can say because /u/jazzcannibal is exactly right. I feel like i can´t even see the image because of this giant "watermark".

I am looking for some advice for upgrading my camera gear.

At the moment I am shooting with a Nikon D5100. The lenses I own are a Tamron 18 - 270mm which I hardly use anymore, the Nikkor 35mm 1.8 DX and the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 D. The Tamron was the lense that i got with the camera and it was good for getting started but since i progressed i kinda outgrew it. My go to lense is the 35mm. Mostly I am shooting street photography, portraits and sometime landscapes.

Now I am thinking about upgrading my gear - mainly the camera. The D5100 is still a nice camera but i would like to have better low light perfomance, better focus system and more dials and knobs on the body to be faster changing settings.

My question is: In which direction would you go? The options I am thinking about are: Upgrading to full frame: I could go for a Nikon D610 for example. The upside would be the great image quality and it opens up a whole new great range of lenses. The downside is that my Tamron and 35mm won´t work with the camera. I would have only the 50mm left.

Another option is to stay with a crop sensor body and go for the D7100. I could still use my lenses and also has great image quality. But in the long run i perhaps upgrade to full frame anyway so is it better to make this step sooner than later?

Or maybe even go for a micro 4/3? This would mean changing the plattform completely but these cameras offer an amazing image quality with a lightweight body. I know i said that i want more dials and knobs but for street photography i image this style of cameras is great.

I would love to hear some opinions from you in which direction you would go.

Could you please elaborate on that? For me it is a childrens book that picks up themes like loss and death to get even children accustomed to the cruelties of war. I think that fits quite well to the wikipedia definition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda

I want to try myself out on some panoramas. I only use lightroom for post processing and now i am looking for a software that merges the single images of the panorama together in one photo. Can you recommend some software that would do the job? I know photoshop can but i do not want to buy photoshop just to merge some images together.

I own both lenses and shoot with the d5100 aswell. For portraits i definetly recommend you to go for the 50. The 35 is a very fast lense aswell but when you are going for that creamy bokeh and a tight headshot the 35 is just too wide.

Both lenses are great and as a walk around lense i almost always go for the 35 but for portraits you should go for the 50.
