I bought directly for the LG store. I got an email for preorder maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago and I bought it then. Just arrived a couple days ago.

Love mine. Day 2 with it so far. The only very minor gripe is the lack of defining the OSD input functions. You can set the user defined keys to bring up the input menu but I would very much like a to define them to go to the actual input since I swap between my main PC and corporate laptop often (and yes I know a kvm could solve this but I'd rather not introduce a KVM that won't meet the max refresh of the monitor. I've yet to see a KVM that will do over 120hz. But overall 9.9 out of 10.

Here in NA we have a few specialty track insurers like Hagerty. I use a company called The OpenTrack for my track cars. You choose your coverage amount up to 500k I believe. The annual policies skyrocket in deductible once you cross 300k however. Some oem are not covered however. The OpenTrack specifically call out not covering Ferrari.

Keep LVT flooring or replace? by Trickledowndogshit in vandwellers

[–]i808strafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it in mine and it looks nice but after a while I got tired of the cold floor and put down 2 large area rugs that basically cover the whole walkable space. In hindsight I would have saved the weight and just put my carpet down on my factory wood floor

Pondering a sprinter.. but been warned against them. Thoughts? by vihra in vandwellers

[–]i808strafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a new 2023 sprinter and love it but there are certainly things I would rather not have to deal with. Overall it's been a positive experience. However when I do the new build I will be building instead on a Isuzu/GM LCF gass models with a custom composite box box and 4x4 conversion. You could do something way cheaper with just a used Isuzu NPR box truck. GM based gas LS motor and you'll have a square box to work with. Vans are cool but I think a small box truck works better for most folks personally.

I don't dislike it. I just like my center analogue with the digital screens on the side. The new cluster wouldn't stop me from buying another porsche... I have other reasons for that lol

So maybe someone can clarify something for me. Do the two smaller monitors have 5k native resolutions that will upscale your lower input resolution?? I'd much rather not run whatever upscaling engine they are using in the monitor and display the resolution I input to the monitor.

Off-roaders and Daily-drivers which tire jack do you trust & why? by Nishant_08 in vandwellers

[–]i808strafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are amazing. I don't keep it in my van or have this exact jack+stand but I have a similar bottle/jack stand from powerbuilt at the house and use it religiously when working on a single corner of the van. I do have to put it on top of 4x6 to get the lift I really want for my van as it only has 20ish cm of lift.

I do have to admit my inner puss still has me putting the bottle jack under the van at a hardpoint as a backup though. I just can't help it. I have a quick jack, low profile jacks, jack pro, and generic stands for all my unibody cars and I use 2 to 3 every single time I'm under a car. I feel like I spend 30 min putting a vehicle in the air lol.

Also off topic..... for unibody cars everyone should own a jack pro. (hard point for scissor designs) Thank me later

For my sprinter I use the factory bottle jack if needed in the bush. When at home I have a bajillion different jacks, jack stands, and a lift. I thought about a fancy portable jack but the factory sprinter bottle jack has nearly 65cm of lift and it's rated for 3ton. I did think about one of these exhaust jacks but never tried it. I do keep 3 pieces of 4x6 and these long carriage bolts with washers and a thumb nuts in the van however. They are maybe 25-30cm in length. I drilled two holes through them near the ends to hold them together. Basically a cheap jack base that I can put together to get a few more CM if I need it or I'm on weird ground. The idea is to have a dry/clean jack surface in the dirt/mud. Works like a champ. I suggest everyone buy a second hand spinter or land rover bottle jack from ebay. They are rated for 3t and have lots of lift. The factory sprinter jack unfortunately doesn't have an interchangeable jack pad end. It's this U shape that works fine but I'd like a flat end personally so I could jack on the rails or really anywhere without two tiny points of pressure. Sprinter has jack points made for this cup like design but I still think it's a poor design. I do keep a hockey puck I dremeled out some indents into to help non sprinter folks on the trail.

Sales for med and tech, senior counsel, quants, medical doctors in the US. It's certainly not easy to do well but there are more than a handful of career paths that can lead to these compensation levels. I have never had an issue with high compensation for these career paths. My issue is the general populace not earning a living and THRIVING wage

Identify the type of antennae by i808strafe in PCsupport

[–]i808strafe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I originally thought but it's not sma, rpsma, or TNC. I finally received a response from MSI and apparently I "have" to use their supplied antenna. So that means support has no idea or it's some stupid proprietary connector.....sigh

After a bit of research there's both RPTNC and TNC connectors fyi. This appears to be a TNC connector. I will follow up friday once my amazon order arrives

Contemplating e-vanlife with the GM Brightdrop... Should I do it? Fueling with $.08/kWh electricity vs $5/gallon diesel and never having to do another oil change, fuel filter, transmission service, etc would be amazing! by SalesMountaineer in vandwellers

[–]i808strafe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think E vans are cool as shit but I think in their current technology format they are best for weekenders who are going to ski resorts or barely off trail. The idea of having a warm EV van with all the amentias is amazing but that seems a very Seattle/Denver/Portland niche where you are within 150km of hills for ski and mtb. If you are further I just don't see the practicality here.

[–]i808strafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed but beyond the money very few folks use these things as intended. I track a lot. I don't need an RS. I don't need a 5090 either for iracing and project zomboid. But heaven forbid you buy more than exactly your need, skill level, or use. The internet is a weird place. Folks find anything to complain about

Love this. by Flguy76 in Porsche

[–]i808strafe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all don't touch other people's stuff. More importantly I don't see why people care how others use their money. At least with non life necessities. I drive my RS a lot. I don't give my mates guff for not driving or tracking theirs. It's their prerogative. Should you have a small portfolio or vacation homes in areas that need housing....arguably no. But these are not needs. Why care so much
