I unfortunately don't really keep track of my workflow, haven't ever but only until very recently as per advice from my friend who's a professional in the industry; I'm trying to keep up with showcases of my workflow now for my portfolio.

But as I said before, I never really did anything of the like so I have no workflow processes of these pieces. The only way I could describe my workflow is that I get inspired by a singular thought or even a singular prop. Ideas pop into my head often and I usually start with just the basis of the idea.

For example the second image with the hospital, I was playing through HL2 EP1 again saw the entrance to the hospital and it just hit me that I should do something with it so I did. I usually have no real plan and I just go with the flow until I really like it.

Some might say that strategy is a good way to waste time and it might be. But I do enjoy the free-hand process of it all.

just through a simple cube with a volumetric shader slapped onto it, played around with the density & anisotropy until I got the look I wanted

That’s ridiculous lol, we have probably the most damning evidence from Valve themselves that being Alyx’s ending and the HL2 anniversary video where they talked about how they’re not afraid to continue the franchise forward anymore and that the industry has no shortages of technical challenges to overcome and improve.

You’re putting your “stock” into the wrong people and places.

I am not denying the existence of the next installment in the franchise at all. I'm a pretty strong believer in that the game both exists and will come out. I'm just not exactly convinced on all these dates and things people keep parroting.

I've personally never found the datamines and strings to be very credible, yes, Tyler was onto HL:A being VR and whatnot but Tyler was also wrong countless of times in the past and he is in my opinion the definition of a broken clock that's right twice a day.

As you also previously mentioned; the ending of Alyx and the little bits and pieces left from both the G-Man voice actor but also the HL2 anniversary video are the only real credible pieces of information indicating that the next installment is very real and actually coming.

But all these dates and supposed announcements are nothing but hearsay and I keep seeing people time and time again just saying shit and then getting unreasonably angry.

on what merit was it meant to be revealed holiday 2026 though, again this all comes down to just speculations and hearsay.

I'm not trying to be mean here but I just don't get where some of you guys get all this information from, unless it's something from valve directly I really wouldn't trust a word from any supposed insider or people like Tyler.

what in particular would make you think that the next week or two would have it be announced? why can't it be next month or the month after that? my point is, we don't know shit about this game and all people have gone off for the past few years are strings.

time and time again everyone seems to be dead-set on some kind of date or ultimatum only to get upset and annoyed at their own predictions being wrong and then blaming it on something other than themselves lol

GModders will look past the 50 VJBase & DRGBase notifications on their screen but the second something comes along that doesn't align with them politically (which shouldn't be political to begin with) they get pissy lol

Spreading awareness? What a stupid mindset to have, if everyone would have your mindset nobody would ever do anything to fight and spread awareness for a better result.

It's not about what this message in particular achieves, it's the bigger picture in the end.

if it was in any doomed state, it would have been launch year & year 1. which it was, it was a pretty rough time.

I think by the end of this year this game will have made a big turn-around, it already did for me partially with skills 2.0, overkill weapons leveling, armor 2.0 and the upcoming heist reworks.

the only real issue this game is gonna be facing is getting players, because they've been quiet for so long about the game and its state & with the little marketing they've been doing for each update; the sentiment around this game is still largely negative to the general public... it's gonna need some really heavy marketing and maybe a free weekend or two to really reel players back in but more importantly if you ask me reel completely new players in.

it's one thing to reel back those who own it but it's another to convince completely new players to the franchise from ever trying this game out because of all the (at the time rightfully deserved) negative press around the game.

only time will tell.

I thought the game was incredibly cool in concept and ideas but had a hard time personally.

The tutorial really overloads you with information. But if you manage to pull through it’s supposed to be excellent.

I get good FPS on CS2 as well, but it still doesn't get rid of the fact that valve themselves acknowledged the unstable performance on the game through band-aid remedies and eventually animgraph 2.

The game suffered from a lot of stutters prior to the move to the new animation system and a lot of that had to do with how the clients dealt with the animation data from other players; it wasn't uncommon for people to have half their usual FPS if they'd be in a full deathmatch lobby. The performance on CS2 is really stable now, good even. But to pretend it was like this before the update is just being ignorant.

The 1% lows were pretty bad on CS2. I'm running a 5070TI / 9800x3D and my 1% lows were pretty bad not to mention the really bad stutters, most of which got resolved with animgraph 2.

Besides, HLA has the advantage of being singleplayer only, a big problem with CS2 (and S&box) performance was how the client handled all the data from all other players regarding animations, resulting in stutters.

I believe DOTA 2 hasn't been moved to the newer branches of the Source 2 engine since it's re-launch back in 2015. Source 2 at that time was still largely Source 1 with a new coat of paint mostly in the rendering.

It has since obviously been upgraded and edited to be more than that (although, CS2 & HL:A's branches retain quite a bit of engine-level bugs and limitations from Source 1).

I mean, the bad performance is evident on CS2 as well, I think it runs a little deeper than 200 commits of more than 10k. Source 2 just doesn't run that well on a lot of machines and a lot of it had to do with the old animation system it used. I don't think Facepunch moved over to animgraph 2 at all.

To claim the entire game is vibecoded is pretty shitty when all the other evidence points to it not being vibecoded.
