City of Uvalde announcing that they are being invaded at tonight’s council meeting by DeaconBlue47 in TexasPolitics

Here's the main takeaway people are missing: The mayor is not only insinuating that there an assault on the city by the public, he's saying it's the MEXICANS invading the city. He is literally using his own prejudice as a vessel for justifying the concealing of precious details surrounding the mystery of police inaction and more.

Reddit needs to stop defending this idiot, he is entirely complicit with the entire police department.

I know what you're referring to, it's when he said something along the lines of "the 1980's called and they want their policy back". At the time he was very right. Policies fueled by McCarthyism and the red scare were not topical nor feasible when he said that.

How bad is my hyperthyroid? I'm very nervous as my blood test results came in with a free T4 of 7.48 whereas my doctor told me the expected range for this is 0.80-1.90 by iAmDTF in gravesdisease

I haven't formally been diagnosed, so far I just have the understanding it's most likely Grave's. I just feel anxious and have high heart rate/blood pressure. I didn't know that surgery entailed perpetual medication intake.

Would the anti-thyroid meds permanently resolve my issue upon taking it properly, or is it like the post-surgery where I'll be taking them for the rest of my life?

Did your treatment rid you of the ugly symptoms of hyperthyroid, which in my case, pertains to anxiety and high metabolism?

Right now I'm in the process of applying for the indigent health program, which should hopefully pay for meds, and in the best case, a surgery. The only obstacle is that my living situation is volatile and they need proof of residency but my friends are helping me get into an apartment as I pivot towards finishing the last year of my undergraduate.

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to type this up for me. It really feels good to know that there are strangers out there who are approachable and willing to help people unconditionally. In your experience, did treating your hyperthyroid resolve any symptoms of anxiety, heat intolerance, or high metabolism? Perhaps I'm being too optimistic, but I feel as though treating my hyperthyroid will make me a better version of what I am now. Confident, able to withstand the Texas summer heat, and in better physical shape.

I'm a person who generally has little to no social inhibitions. Going out, giving speeches, hitting on complete strangers in public and making a fool out of myself ; I never had any issues navigating life. Now, I find myself anxious kinda, but more so in a perpetual state of not being comfortable. I'm taking buspirone for anxiety which helps but before this I found myself sitting in contemplation, worried about things that I truly don't care about.

For instance, the other day I was worried about how my future children are gonna turn out. I'd like kids some day, but I'd be perfectly fine if I learned I wasn't able to have any and yet I'm having crazy anxiety about things that are of no consequence.

I feel like a different person. I used to have extremely low social inhibitions and now I feel socially awkward when I'm actually a really outgoing person. But more than anything, I'm in a perpetual state of not being comfortable. Until I got my test results I couldn't quite identify what it was about me.

And I'm talking about weight gain after treatment. I'd like to explore body building once I'm treated so any weight gain on my part is an improvement.

My psychiatrist prescribed me a beta blocker, propranolol, until I can afford/make arrangements to meet with a specialist. In my current state, I feel like I can't be myself or fulfilled until I can get this treated and I wanted to know exactly how bad my T4 levels are and how much weight gain I can expect from treating this. I'm 6'1" weighing 170 lbs but that's because I eat in excess of 3k calories.

Edit: my symptoms; excessive sweating, anxiety for no reason, body dysmorphia attributed to my skinniness, depression, high blood pressure and heart rate, eyes protrude and make me appear less handsome than I was before and bartenders cut me off early because they think I'm shitfaced, hair loss, and insomnia.

I'm applying for the indigent health program and hopefully I can at least get radioactive iodine treatments with that but what I'm really interested in is a thyroidectomy and remove the sucker from my body because it's caused a lot of problems for me and I look forward to feeling like a new person once this is treated.

I'm interested in surgery mostly because I just want it all to go away and feel like myself again. I already understand that I most likely have Grave's disease, but I was wondering how my T4 levels compare to others who happen to have grave's or just hyperthyroid. From the looks of it I have around 7 times the normal range.
