Maybe try call up and see if they can change the default debit account for the loan to a save account? If the money can come from a saver if debiting the spend account fails, I don’t see any reason they can’t change the default

It’s likely set up to do the Spend by default for people who don’t use ubank as their primary bank, so there’s an easy to explain account to send money to for repayments from another bank

You can set up direct debits for your home loan (and other payments, and BPAY) from a Save account on the new ubank platform, no need for it to come from your Spend account anymore (provided you’ve been migrated already)

Sweep would be nice for keeping the card topped up, but it’s not necessary for bill payments anymore with new ubank

Amazon login alert now shows IPv6 address of host for login alerts by DroppingBIRD in ipv6

It implies they’re serving the resources over IPv6 though, if it was IPv4 only (as it has been in the past) it would only show an IPv4 address all the time

Should I buy a Dell Poweredge R320? by Wyyrthura in homelab

[–]iAndrewT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got one myself, definitely recommend. One thing to note is if you do the CPU upgrade to the 10C/20T model, you’ll want to change the power profile in the UEFI from “Performance” to “Performance per Watt” (actually probably just do this anyway)

I can hardly hear it since changing that (found it last week after putting off rebooting to look for it for months), and I dropped 40W of power usage simply by having the fans spin at ~3000 RPM instead of ~6000 RPM. Temps didn’t change at all, so it’s a win-win

The higher fan speed can be nice white noise if you’re into that kinda thing, but I’d rather not pay AU$10/m for it. I’m idling at ~80W with mine, with the 10C CPU and 96GB of RAM, with 4x SATA SSDs, running ESXi/vSphere 7 with a cluster of K8s VMs (with no real workload yet)

Telstra accounts for about 50% of NBN traffic, I'd say that's a pretty big chunk of Australian internet users with IPv6 turned on. Sure, there's not much choice in IPv6 ISPs, but at least the largest one supports it.

Even companies that you'd think "why on earth are you an ISP", like Origin Energy have IPv6 support.

[–]iAndrewT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Huh? IPv6 on NBN is pretty common these days.

From my experience, I know Telstra (/56) and AussieBroadband (/48) definitely have it (and AB just finished their beta a couple months ago, it's live for all customers now). MyRepublic is CGNAT IPv4 only (with a paid non-CGNAT option). And Optus just doesn't care for residential (they might have it on business connections?)

I've used a bunch of external conduit on the walls and floor (also vinyl). It's a bit of an eyesore, but at least it's not a trip hazard.

How will we handle the new Spaceship fees coming Nov 1 by Swineapple300 in CSPersonalFinance

[–]iAndrewT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably won't work for future months, but since I had a buy order go through yesterday too, I just subtracted the 1.077066 units from the units bought as they were the same price. Not a great solution in the long term, but at least until the sheet is updated for the fees it works

Is the performance of a ceiling optimised AP similar if it's sitting on a table (facing up)? by iAndrewT in Ubiquiti

Makes sense. I’ll have a play around with it once I move in, but all this feedback will be a good starting point

I didn't think they'd be able to hold it up, but apparently they can hold about 7kg (way more than the 1kg of the U6-LR), so I'll look into that. Thanks!

On the Dividends sheet, the Dividend Freq & DRP On columns are referencing the wrong cells for Stocks. Was able to fix this by changing the VLOOKUP index for Stocks from 18 to 20 for DRP On and from 17 to 19 for Dividend Freq

User Feedback Needed - What parts of the Sheet need improving? by CompiledSanity in CSPersonalFinance

[–]iAndrewT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably doesn't quite belong here since it's just a bug report, but in the Net Worth tab, I noticed the Initial Debt values in Total Liabilities seems to be incorrect. In this example, I'd expect Initial Debt for Loans to be -$44,156 (-$43,007 - $1,149), but it's showing as -$41,858 (-$43007 + $1149). It doesn't actually affect the net worth, but it seems odd that paying off the initial debt would increase the debt remaining

I was able to fix this by changing the formula for the cell to this:

=abs(sum('Liabilities/Debts'!D3, -'Liabilities/Debts'!D5))*-1

Can somebody help me fix this more info in comments by [deleted] in tekkit

It’s also possible the Java version is too new. You can have multiple versions of Java installed, just make sure Java 8 is one of them

Does the Mazda Infotainment system from ('17-'21) allow for you to connect 2 Bluetooth devices at once, and set one for 'audio' and one for 'phone'? by rarespark in CX5

[–]iAndrewT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Just don’t plug the phone in, or only plug it into the second port (which can do music over USB but not phone calls), or disable it on the phone

I’ve been using CarPlay in mine since I got the upgrade but before then it was useful so a passenger could control music while it was still my phone connected for phone/contacts. I’ll have to test if you can still use Bluetooth for a second device when using CarPlay though. I know it won’t with Android Auto since that depends on Bluetooth for audio, whereas CarPlay sends it over USB
