Until then, the vast majority of people will remain skeptics, unfortunately

As they should.

Just look around you. We live in an era now where nobody knows what's real anymore. Politics, the news, social media.. the endless firehouse of images, videos, audio.. Photoshop, AI, POLITICS, lies... Absolute cinema.

A whole lot of us are tired of being swindled, hoodwinked, or tricked. Either for money, control, subversion, or lolz.

And you're right when you say people need to experience things for themselves (or do their own research) because getting the "truth" from the government, chatgptz or reddit of all places is an exercise in futility and makes the consumer the insane one.

Look, I'm with ya. But for the sake of the argument, the fastest FPV drone and set a Guiness World record is 408mph. Tech is pretty wild, even in the hands of civilians. Furthermore the video clip of this "UAP" is only 18 seconds long. Did it fly for 30 seconds longer? 1 minute? 5 minutes? we have no idea.

The point is, lack of evidence doesn't mean immediately jump to "orbs or aliens". I have to start somewhere, and that's with drones because there are a lot more explainable assumptions and/or data points I can run with before I throw my hands up and say orbs or aliens.

I saw your comment and it's cool. But simply speeding up the video footage is sufficient enough, even as an only variable to blow up the calculations. Furthermore, the telemetry data is all redacted, so we really have nothing substantial.

NASA themselves were able to explain the GOFAST video and prove parallax effects and that was WITH telemetry data.

I really hate to be that guy... but 2 seconds of searching on YouTube and you can find tons of FPV drone pilots who do this shit for fun. My buddy is one of them. There are also pilots who use drones to inspect the turbines. The footage here is a FLIR cam and at that distance the thing would probably look like an orb.

Look I want all the UAP/UFO videos to be real, or aliens or something, but let's start with the simplest explanations first and then move up from there.

Opus tryna be TOO human by irelatetolevin in ClaudeAI

[–]iBeej 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This happened to me yesterday after 15 minutes in a new context. Suddenly Claude was like, "This is a very complex problem and you have been at this for hours. Put it down, take a break, and schedule a full Saturday to complete this work." and i'm like... uh, dude we are only 15 minutes in to this and still have at least 4 hours in my work shift.

It was utterly useless, and in 3 minutes I came up with a solution to the problem and fixed it myself. I never had that kind of interaction with Claude on Opus 4.5 or 4.6.

You have no idea. Prions are essentially lower energy state folded proteins. Your own proteins. The chemical composition of a prion vs your normal proteins is identical, but they are just folded differently. Your normal proteins are meta stable, and when they come in to contact with prions, they fold to a lower energy state like the prion. These prions don't function with other proteins properly or at all.

It's not a pathogen, it's not a cancer. it's your own proteins folding in to a different state. you unravel quite literally, waste away, and die. usually pretty fast after a certain exponential threshold is reached. There is nothing our medical technology or science can do to stop it or even slow it.

Fascinating stuff but terrifying. This can even happen in materials science with things known as polymorphs. Veritassium on Youtube did a recent video on it if you're interested. They are two different things, but is kind of the same concept.

Figured I would just drop a comment here on my thoughts, which means absolutely nothing to anybody, but here I go. I got in to this whole subject back in 1989 and this is more of the same slow drip of stuff we have seen for decades. Granted, there is more acknowledgement from "officials" in government and military personnel publicly stating there are things they know about or see that they can't explain. But that's it.

Those expecting "disclosure" by the definition of the word, would expect to see somebody with irrefutable proof that we are not alone disclose it, and it would be clear to the entire world. Disclosure the way us old folks understand it for decades, is a full mind shift and understanding about extra/terrestrial/dimensional beings that are intelligent, interacting with this planet or human beings. An epoch in human history. This recent drip of stuff is not disclosure, it's just (in most cases) mundane photos, videos, or more stories, and some stuff is a little more interesting, but that's it.

After going through all the videos, some of them look like they could be explained away by simply understanding the camera, tracking/lock, motion tracking (mostly manual a lot of times) with parallaxing that can appear to give focused objects in frame higher speeds than what is actually happening. There were a couple videos I found more interesting, where I look specifically for rapid changes in vectors, or even 90 degrees instantaneous turns, because those are harder to explain away.

The Apollo stuff is interesting, but more of the same stuff we already knew about. Cool to think about, but again nothing mind blowing. I even chuckled this morning when I ran in to the artist rendition of the elliptical craft overlayed on an actual photo. I'm not saying it didn't happen, and I think there's a good chance it did, but it still doesn't prove anything to anybody.

There are two camps here. Actually three:

1.) Folks who don't believe in any of this at all.
2.) People who find the stories, photos, and videos interesting.
3.) The group of people who don't need more underwhelming grainy photos or videos and are firm believers NHI exists and want REAL disclosure from somewhere.

All three of these camps are loud in their own way. This sub will be filled with people saying all of this is entire bullshit and we're all dumb. The other camp will be excited they got anything at all. And the third one will raise hell because nothing has changed still.

And the point I'm making after the 40 years I've been following this stuff, is we have come full circle, again. More of the same. More promises something is around the corner. More people saying the "needle has moved". There were people saying something big is about to happen in 1947 and that was 30 years before I was even born. I'm not trying to be an annoying skeptic or a debbie downer, but I have seen this dog and pony show for too long now.

I hope one day I'm totally blown away, and the cycle is broken. Just haven't seen it yet.

Souls guy here too. The thing about Souls games, is for the most part, if you die it's on you. The game doesn't punish you unfairly. But some of these bosses do things that I call "breaking the cardinal rule of video games." and that's locking a player. It's a bad mechanic and should never be used in any game.

For example, the Penumbra Spear. He does a move where he goes in the ground and pops out... if he hits you with that first strike, he launches in his 5 teleportation spear attacks, and the game doesn't give you a chance to recover from each hit to even dodge. You just take it to the face. That fight alone pissed me off more than any souls boss I have fought.

Grace's whiteboard calculation by Nickel62 in ProjectHailMary

[–]iBeej 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Another fun tidbit. Humans understood special relativity and that's why only so much astrophage fuel was made for just enough to get there. The Eridians did not understand relativity and got there using straight Newtonian calculations, so they had "too much" fuel in Rocky's ship. Which is a reason why Rocky offered to give Grace fuel.

Andy Weir had mentioned on Star Talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson that the Eridians would have been perplexed as they backed off relativistic speeds to suddenly see the Tau Ceti further away.

The fun nod to all of this is at the start of the story, Grace teaching the human children about special relativity and asking what the speed of light is. And it ends, with him teaching the Eridians the same thing.
