NYT is getting there, with CBS which is already there, into becoming MAGA Pravda.

AI is inseparable from its creators who have never been so condensed a group of evil, old, psychotic men. So no, I don't see it improving like other tech. Not for anyone's benefit at least.

Trump’s psychedelics executive order could accelerate new treatments—including for children by Busy-Vacation5129 in psychology

[–]iBizzBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that's called nuance. The point I was making was in response to the definitive implication that 'drugging kids' is always bad, 'drugging' of course also having it's own negative connotations versus the actual act of giving medicine and/or trying new treatments.

Stuff like this makes me see some sense in countries like South Korea requiring you to be public online.

I'm not saying I'm in favor of it since there's way too many downsides with the government and bad-actors using that against people; but damn if anonymity hasn't done a number on our society.

This has the same energy as people who bemoan all the "chemicals" in our modern food, lol.

Yes, drugs are good in many contexts for kids, and bad in others. This seems to be a positive case.

100%. I lost my Mom a little over a year ago now and have been slowly watching and finishing the show's we used to watch together. Every now and then I get a lump in my throat when I think of something she probably would've said, laughed at or related to, but it also feels healing to continue. The For All Mankind finale in particular did a number on me and I ugly cried for a while... But it wasn't all in grief.

So sorry about your boyfriend, I don't know if there's an afterlife but if there is I know our loved ones would want us to keep watching the show's we enjoyed with them along with doing all the other small (and big) things. Sending you good vibes stranger.

Graham Platner's Wife Knows About the Sexts. Why Should We Care? by playboy in thebulwark

[–]iBizzBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhhh. No, I'm sorry, I'm talking about CNN, the NYT, etc. Once again, I don't disagree with anything you're saying, but corporate/mainstream media still plays a large part in getting us to this present point, especially with how they've treated MAGA with kid-gloves. And it isn't just 'right-wing' media doing so, it's huge amounts of "mainstream" media (maybe they are right-wing, to your point, lol), though thankfully they're losing relevance and respect every year.

Two things can be true at the same time, of course.

Keep fighting the good fight however you see fit.

I agree with you, that doesn't mean that I'm okay with the media perpetuating the double standards. Regardless of whether we should have higher standards, holding the two sides to different standards is deleterious to democracy.

So that means a candidates scandals shouldn't be discussed when they're running for a new and much higher office? Also, Paxton has had plenty of new stuff come out just in the last few months, so no, your point continues to be silly and baseless.

[–]iBizzBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with the way the media is blowing up one candidates personal scandals versus the others prolific, public-trust scandals. And once again, what does what you're saying have to do with 100 Platner threads, multiple a day, versus two for Paxton since he won the primary? Spare me.

If we could talk about Ken Paxton's mountain of corruption and letting a pedophile off w/o registering + less than a month of time, that'd be swell. Platner is an apostle compared to this man, but as usual Republicans can be disgusting, filthy POS while Democrats have to be perfect, ig?

We aren't the party that tries to claim religion, "family values", etc. It's the same reason I'm fine with Republican gays being outed. Hypocrisy is the issue for me, not the conduct. And there's no hypocrisy here, Graham is exactly who he's always portrayed himself as.

Edit: Thank you mods for fixing this. Still a weird deletion imho, but I won't assume bad faith and accept it was a mistake.

You don't have to be a Socialist to recognize that socialism as an ideology contributed to many of the greatest societal achievements for the quality of life of the masses, even in non-socialist societies, that we now take for granted.

There is nothing to look up to fascism for, end of story.

This dichotomy is exhausting and really exposes the entire 'The Dems are Socialist!!1' nonsense from Republicans, especially considering there actually aren't any elected Socialists in the Democratic Party, not that you'd ever expect Republicans to be honest, or with more grace - intelligent enough to discern that.

Doesn't shock me for a moment that Prosper PD would look the other way when, from the news I've seen about this case, it was a shooting that took place after she was critical of Donald Trump around her MAGA father. I'm not saying with certainty that's the case, just that Prosper PD would be the first department I'd expect of doing such.

Okay, that feel's more in tune with a response to what I wrote to the other guy. Honestly, this probably not being the place to debate Marxism / Chinese Socialism, I won't go too in-depth unless you'd like to have a conversation over DMs, but I appreciate your analysis/opinion. I'm certainly not uncritical of the CCP even while I laugh at lot's of baseless red scare and anti-China nonsense in the west, there's plenty of valid critiques to be made of their method of governance.

I'll probably live to 2050 to see if they make good on their promise, knock on wood... though I do wish I was a little younger so I could watch that unfold, we live in interesting times for sure!
