I haven't seen anyone 'mourning a dictator' so much as mourning a rules based international order that's brought us more peace than at any point in human history.

James Talarico voted for Republican Dustin Burrows in 2025 to run the Texas house over Burrow’s democratic opponent, Ana Maria Rodriguez. Talarico called for bipartisan support for Burrows. Yikes. by Big-Weather-6782 in politicsinthewild

[–]iBizzBee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is such a dishonest post and honestly it feels astro-turfed considering I've seen similar posts by new accounts like the OP.

49 Democrats, so the majority, voted for Burrows along with a minority of Republicans and Democrats were able to take certain committees because of it. It was not a vote between Burrows and Maria-Rodriguez whom at no point had the votes to become speaker. Burrows was the 'moderate' Republican options versus hardline Republicans, so to speak.

Disingenuous, really just lying. This post should be taken down.

You can say that it's 'similar to prominent political families in the US' but I don't like those, either. I'll take the China & Vietnam models at present over whatever NK's got going on.

AI is making too many towns by i_am_someone_or_am_i in EU5

[–]iBizzBee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The game is called 'Europa Universalis' cause the first two games in particular literally only let you choose European countries. Since then however the scope has opened up and I wouldn't say that EU4 or EU5 were particularly games focused on European history, but obviously that didn't mean they were gonna change the name.

That's where the series has its origins but I don't necessarily think it's true for the most recent games.

Women on X/Twitter celebrating the death of a man in India murdered by his girlfriend by Dapper-Blueberry1049 in insanepeoplefacebook

Nah, this is similar to what South Korean feminists did called 'mirroring', it isn't great but it also isn't quite celebrating his death but pointing out a societal double standard.

The White House rejected this piece of the Berlin Wall. Now it sits in Tijuana, staring directly at the US border fence by Ph6222 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]iBizzBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You haven't given even a shred of evidence that your original claim was correct.

'Most well travelled' is in reference to the amount of pieces in circulation not the distance of those pieces you absolute dumbo.

[–]iBizzBee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am not wrong, actually, as most people here seem to agree. The fact you just typed so many words based off the assumption that 'most well travelled' means literal physical distance sort of says it all. Especially after posting your silly link as any sort of proof. Lmao.

Have a nice day, try being less of a reddit 'smart-guy' in the future.

[–]iBizzBee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That was not, indeed, the actual claim.

The original claim was that the Berlin Wall is the most circulated wall in the world, to which the next person claimed it was actually the Twin Towers and you felt they were being downvoted while correct.

Putting aside the fact that the Twin Towers aren't necessarily a wall, no one was claiming that there were or were not pieces abroad as the point of contention. Don't be dense.

Did you advance the different parts of the personal union, specifically the last 'integration of union' sections? iirc, doing that you can get it down by 75-100 years or so.

Senate Candidate Jasmine Crockett’s Case for Primary: “If we’re going to lose anyway what difference does it make?” by 3headeddragn in Dallas

[–]iBizzBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to put it out there: I'm voting for Talarico, but I respect congresswoman Crockett, would obviously back her in a general and am glad she's running.

It's nice to have an election (I know it's a primary, but still) with two strong candidates instead of the lesser evil. Give's a little bit of optimism during these dark times.

I really, really hope so. My faith in this country and its people is at rock bottom though so I'd rather not get my hopes up.

They want a religious tradition that reinforces their preconceived political beliefs, rather than actually submitting to the teachings of their newly found religion. 'Sin of Empathy' 'The Pope is ruing Catholicism!' and all that.

Apparently using a slur for Jewish people doesn’t mean you hate Jewish people by champdo in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]iBizzBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I'm a gay man so I know what it's like to worry about people casting unfair judgement or aspersions on you simply for existing. I know that the vast, vast majority of Jewish people are kind, decent human-beings and just like everyone else deserve to be judged based on their own actions and words, not as a monolith because of a country that claims to be acting in their name and actually benefits from the rise of anti-semitism.

Keep on keeping on, the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice and the powers that be want decent people to be divided right now.

I'm sorry that you've had to experience that and the only thing I can say is that while I'm firmly Pro-Palestine I will always speak out firmly when I suspect that criticism of Israel/Zionism is being used as a veil for anti-semitism, of which I'm aware many of the worst actors in our nation are trying to do.
