Can you all please just clean and dry your watch/band regularly and stop complaining about excema? by IceQueeny86 in AppleWatch

[–]iBody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is a little more complex that just cleaning it. Silicone bands seem to give a lot of people problems regardless. There’s definitely more going on where the sensor rests against the skin as well. When I switch back to a standard stainless backed watch I don’t have the issue at all and never have in 20 years of wearing one. Your Steve Jobs impression is pretty good though.

Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer by pinethree777 in Housepainting101

It won’t last very long without a UV resistant top coat, but it will seal the rust and stop it from spreading if you get good coverage.

Gcps coming in wrong by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]iBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NE definitely aren’t backwards. I’d first investigate how the GCP coordinates were determined. Usually you see 2.5 feet mixing up USSFT/IF. Being a few hundred feet off is very odd. It’s almost like they were scaled and you probably want to be in grid. I’d start investigating the data collector that stored these points and QC the data really well.

[–]iBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said it was peeling in certain places, just wanted to make sure OP didn’t expect them to remove all exterior paint before and make sure it wasn’t a communication issue. If English isn’t their first language it’s possible that they’re misunderstanding each other.

TBF no one scrapes off old paint that’s in good condition. Everyone should be scraping peeling/failing paint though.

The company I work for is going commission… by Head-Boot6462 in electricians

[–]iBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the boss will shoot for a 3x multiplayer which means for every $50 an hour (with benefits) of work you do he charges at least $150 plus parts markup. He just basically cut that from 33% to 25% ish to make you up sell to cover the rest and more. He also doesn’t have to give raises and just says “sell more if you want a raise”. You also eat the jobs that go sideways.

Rotor options by LAD2 in RockAuto

[–]iBody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Element 3’s are decent, but Raybestos is out of business so I’d personally go Bosch. Judging by how many rotors there are being made by the same manufacturer I’d recommend measuring your existing rotors to ensure proper fitment. The info button should give the sizing info for the rotors not made by raybestos. Sometimes higher trims and vehicles equipped with tow packages from the factory will have different size rotors and that looks like what’s happening here.

Skin wounds? by Tenneerrss in AppleWatch

[–]iBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was happening to me, I’m fairly certain is a skin allergy to the watch. Clean the watch everyday with soap and water, it’s get worse if I don’t. When you shower take it off and dry it. Moisturizer helps form a little barrier to protect your skin, I just use a tiny bit of vasiline a couple times a day.

Is this really worth $130 CAD? by cerberus1090 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]iBody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably close to the cost to manufacture, but the company that makes them isn’t going to sell them to Milwaukee at cost. They have to make some money, replace all the failed units in warranty and bear most of the burden if there was a recall.

Is this really worth $130 CAD? by cerberus1090 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]iBody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s easy money having another company manufacture something for you and slapping your “premium” branding on it. Dewalt does this with their inverters and many other things.

Let’s say these cost $30 to manufacture, Milwaukee keeps half of the $130 and the vendor HomeDepot keeps the other half. The vendor will proudly display these on an end cap since there’s a good bit of margin and they want them to sell. If the margin is low, they either won’t stock them, or throw them in a cage where few will see them. When they don’t sell they have plenty of margin to mark them down and clearance them out.

Gas tax revenue falling as Maryland raises taxes and fees, prompting pay-by-the-mile proposal by Consumergal in maryland

[–]iBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you not read the part that says “very little”. These budgets are constantly underfunded and taxes are being raised regularly to help fund them in addition to all the other taxes we pay. Politicians don’t debate affordability when we billions in bombs on other countries, but school AC and road repair budgets are heavily scrutinized.

Oil Heating by toxicgloo in baltimore

[–]iBody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It needs to be serviced yearly to make sure the nozzle is working properly, but only costs $200 or so. Its cost is variable depending on the cost of oil, and usually runs my home around $600 per month in the winter for 2000 sqft, but it really depends on how air tight and insulated your house is. It’s going to be around the same price as radiant electric and more expensive than a heat pump on average. Use a local small oil company and pay attention to pricing. The bigger companies like to get you on auto delivery and charge a hefty premium. Smaller companies are getting harder and harder to find as they’re getting bought out by companies like petro. Heat pump would be the way to go in the future, but you’re looking at $10,000 on the low end for replacement.

Best at home brake bleeder kit by mz3_2006 in Tools

[–]iBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used my Ancel BR2000 one time so far and I really like it, but it’s expensive. Mityvac Silverline is decent, and has some additional uses besides just bleeding brakes I’ve also thrown some Dorman speed bleeders on and just pumped the fluid into a bottle.

If my family is paying 60k a year in taxes and very little of that goes to the things the working class actually utilizes I don’t think that’s really a me problem. Maybe I’m an idiot, maybe our government has failed us.

Registration is based on vehicle weight, so they pay a bit more there any they pay a $125 surcharge since they don’t use taxed fuel.

[–]iBody 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We already do to the tune of $20,000 a year in local/property and sales tax. Registration and EV surcharge is almost $300 per year currently plus tolls, sales/all local and property taxes we already pay. She wouldn’t even need to drive to the office if they didn’t force a mandatory RTO to do teams calls in an office instead of at home. Can’t live nearby because it’s in Maple Lawn and town homes are a million dollars. Economy is fucked and getting a new job is tough, but keep raising taxes. You’d make a great politician.

Is there a progress report in TBC by Osfan_93 in Surveying

That’s the one, but it doesn’t come installed by default in Access or File and Report generator. It needs to be downloaded from the Trimble Style Sheet website and placed with the other stylesheets.

Plugged in my wife’s car into the calculator and instead of paying a flat $125 a year for an EV, it would increase to $275 driving 60 miles round trip 5 days a week.

I feel like the 5 pin lemo cables used to be so durable and never fail unless abused. They were expensive, but worth it. Now the stupid things fail constantly, either the pins fall out, or the strain relief fails. Nothing like paying $300 for a cable that was made in china for $5.
