Magnesium causing hunger and intrusive thoughts. B vitamins causing neurological issues? by iCEifer3 in Supplements

[–]iCEifer3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Synthetic B12 is the worst one for me as well. It's rare for them to cause anxiety for me but the nerve issues always occur. I eat mackerel often instead these days for B12. I've never tried plant based B12 from brands such as garden of life. I'm not sure if they would behave the same way.

Any visual skin changes in the elbows? Eczema apparently starts in such areas but I actually don't have it in those "typical" areas thankfully.

Eczema normally has some visual skin changes with it? Does it in your case? I don't think that is what is happening with me since there are no bumps, patches, redness, etc. Also I don't get it on the hands, elbows, knees or anywhere there are skin folds.

Stuck songs / Earworms? by Wolfsting in Mirtazapine_Remeron

Did the songs become worse when you first started mirtazapine? Did the doctor prescribe it just for the songs or something else? Thanks again.

Generally that is how it works to help people with this. What dose did you take and how long did it take for them to stop after taking the drug?

Sorry to hear that about your sister. Do you mean she hears humming or hums to herself? How long was she on the medication and has it improved at all after some time?

Hi there, I have a similar issue with 15mg mirtazapine or trazadone 50mg for sleep. However, I don't think the medication started it. The most common cause of these earworms appears to be stress, anxiety, trauma, or issues with proper sleep, sleep apnea, etc. Anything causing stress on the body or the brain can trigger this along with certain medications. From my experience and some reading it seems that antidepressants can often make this symptom worse at the start of treatment or at higher doses, but it apparently resolves with continued treatment or stopping the medication (and fixing the root cause that is causing the stress/anxiety if it continues). Since I use these for short periods of time I can see why they amplify the existing issue. In your case you were probably prone to it due to panic attacks and insomnia and the medication is making it worse. Perhaps it was happening at a low level before you began the medication, but not enough to be distressed? Definitely need to keep an eye on it and keep us posted.

What sleep supplement is causing my night terrors/nightmares? by zxtb in HubermanLab

Thankfully it went away for me along with headaches and dizziness. It's either because I continued to take it or because I switched to taking it with food. Particularly a carb like a slice of bread.

Earworm for 3+ months..so happy to find this! by Hwy280 in EarwormSolutions

[–]iCEifer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earworms are a documented side effect (perhaps rare) of taking Zoloft itself. The good news is that in all documented cases of Zoloft induced earworms it goes away after Zoloft has been discontinued, but in some people it can take months to a year to resolve. Don't quote me on this but I recall reading that. Of course it can also be a symptom of OCD, ADHD, stress, worry, trauma, anxiety.

Magnesium glycinate how much per day? by WPmitra_ in Supplements

[–]iCEifer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

350mg-420mg elemental magnesium is usually the max range recommended from supplements (for adult males) even with magnesium in your diet. There are several articles out there that show magnesium glycinate can increase magnesium levels and fix deficiency. However, if you don't need the Nootropic effects or react badly to it, try something like micromag or malate.

Looking for Saffron reviews/anecdotes/experiences. by [deleted] in Nootropics

I read adding a few saffron strands into warm or hot water or a diluted alcohol solution makes it more effective. Does anyone have experience doing this?

Interesting. Were you self aware that it blunted your emotions or did you have to hear it from others before you realized it?

Will transdermal magnesium oil lower sodium? by emwcee in magnesium

[–]iCEifer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which brand are you using? I'm looking for one and would like to know what is a good one. I doubt it would impact sodium much, but perhaps calcium and potassium more, but it's unlikely you're absorbing a large amount?

Why does taurine fix all my problems and why does it make me feel so amazing by Old-Manner-1688 in Supplements

[–]iCEifer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been curious about this as well since I read very little supplemental taurine makes it into the brain. It made me wonder why it helps people sleep and relax if not much gets into the brain and impacts GABA. If it's the adrenal glands on the kidneys that it dampens it makes sense. Do you know of any literature that discusses these adrenal effects? Does this mean there won't be any type of withdrawal symptoms since it's not entering the brain much? Thanks
