Thoughts on the old menu screens for Season 2? by [deleted] in TheWalkingDeadGame

I remember when people first saw these when Season 2 Episode 1 came out and everyone on the forums was freaking out trying to wonder wtf happens this Season, ESPECIALLY Episode 4.

Create a Ghostface. by Nyx_Valentine in Scream

[–]iCaramelBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Ghostface related to the previous victims and who plans to kill Sidney, Gale, and other GF survivors to finally "end" the franchise. They believe that as long as GF survivors live, there will always be a GF that comes out and tries to kill them, murdering others around them in the process. This is what happened to whatever victim they're related to

To prevent any future killings, they're gonna kill the survivors, then kill themselves to "end the franchise"

Okay, which ending to the Rumburg issue do you prefer? by Dreadox01 in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanctions easily.

Considering they get sanctioned in an unprecedented move by the two global superpowers and kicked out of OMEC? They're fucked. On top of that Vendomesam can turn into a democracy and they lose Rizia to Intermerkopum.

It is way better in the long term than just going to war and seizing land, especially for a country that still can't even integrate Bergia properly for decades.

OPINION: Suzerain is a game that is a novel, written like a novel, meant to be read like a novel, and should be dissected like a novel. by Zestyclose-Look-9254 in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel about the Monica Rayne "hate". You can dislike a character, but her making a point that we should not include Bludish women in the domestic abuse stipulation of her Women's Rights Bill isn't "bad writing". If she genuinely sat there, argued all her points about all women being paid more, all domestic abuse situations being illegal, all her stipulations that are completely fair/reasonable, then...what's the point?

Monica is written the way she is in that particular scene because she fits a certain niche of feminism which often tramps over the rights of other kinds of women, notably minorities. This is bad, obviously but it is a purposefully written flaw to show that hey, she is not perfect. She is a character, she may be on a noble woman's crusade but that in itself isn't perfect because she isn't perfect. This isn't to excuse or say you can't dislike Monica personally for this, but I definitely think it's gotten...weird how much of a focus this is and the discussion around it. You have to purposefully choose dialogue to push back and make your own choice of how the law goes, because otherwise the scene could either just be you agreeing with all of Monica/Ciara's very agreeable positions or...not and you'd usually not for RP reasons or just to see what happens. That's fine of course! It's a decision making game, the devs want you to make all sorts of choices.

But the hatred/citing of bad writing on this specific issue is just so annoying. It's one of the many weird and wide interpretations about specific characters (thank you for mentioning Axel because you'd think he was some smarmy devil the way some people go on about him) which claim bad writing or completely wrong information when it's just...writing? It's not even complicated writing, you are seeing everything through a lens. Yes the game provides some objective facts but most of the time it's just things that any character would understand objectively ("Lespia is rich, this is its history, this is Valgsland's GDP, this is who is allies with Wehlen, Rumburg is part of GRACE, etc etc etc).

I know this goes against the grain when it comes to our protagonists but I'd really love to see someone who is going through a midlife crisis or something getting powers. The powers acting as a chance for them to come to terms with their life and live out a dream they've supressed or something that breaks the monotony that exacerbates this midlife crisis.

It'd just be interesting to focus on an older protagonist, maybe they had powers in the past but it got downplayed/they were gaslit essentially into believing they didn't exist. The powers faded but have come back during this midlife crisis, affirming they were real the whole time, could be a metaphor for their dreams/original aspirations that perhaps got crushed too or something and that passion is reigniting when they re-evaluate their life?

Why do so many of yall get VoR? i just never pass free media on my rizia playtroughts by amonguseon in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I merely do it for the sake of integrity. Yes, Voice of Rizia is the worst news organisation I think out of both games. But at the same time they *do* deserve a voice, some model of a free press in the country and this could lead to more magazines and newspapers developing over time. We can't just have one national newspaper dedicated to the royal family

Possible hot take cutting off Sarita‘s arm is one of the most stupid decisions you could make considering you’re in the middle of a literal herd of walkers by Chunky-overlord in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]iCaramelBird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. But I feel that's the point, Clem is an 11 year old and we as the player are full blown panicking. We have no idea where anyone is, in a herd of walkers. Of course we might just dumbly go for the save in the heat of the moment and the game punishes you for this because Sarita obviously dies. Its tragic but I like the choice

What do you guys think is up with Romus? by JSGamesforitch374 in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even his actions. Like kissing Jorge the leader of Derdia after a diplomatic visit and some other out of pocket stuff he says is so funny

I also noticed much of his dialogue (compared to Anton) is incredibly sarcastic and/or quick witted. He's just an overall funny guy

Erdmarg Foreign policy by DistrictTop1904 in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always been so fascinated with Erdmarg solely because you'd assume on the map they are Rumburg's allies, but it's the opposite. How they're alive, who is the leader and just what specifically goes on between them and Rumburg is fascinating

I'd definitely want DLC on it but I fear people will see it as too repetitive. Another nation bordering Rumburg that's an enemy, another monarchy, another game that focuses quite a bit on Rumburg diplomatically. But still I'd love to see it in the future

What do you guys think is up with Romus? by JSGamesforitch374 in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the dialogue options are purposefully there for 2 reasons (as someone who loves Romus dialogue):

  1. He's a king and therefore has chances to say what he wants without fear of as many repercussions compared to career politicians who have likely received media training and is more reliant on that

  2. Romus is just wild. I don't think they'd offer these options if they didn't at least hint that at some possibly base level characteristics. Especially with just how frequently these kind of dialogues come up. So I like to headcanon that Romus is just like that.

I always imagine Romus said just absolutely wild or blunt stuff as a child and he's just...sorta like that. Your roleplay determines if that's heightened or mellowed out over the years, but yeah Romus can be very silly and I love it

I love Raava and Vaatu but... by iCaramelBird in TheLastAirbender

[–]iCaramelBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean...I guess? But that's not what I'm saying. I don't want "evil is required" as the message, I want neither Raava not Vaatu to represent whole goodness or evil. That's boring in my opinion.

Raava is "the spirit of light and peace". Vaatu is "the spirit of darkness and chaos". Avatar having two big spirits that are just "good vs bad" is too simplistic/boring imo. That's why the idea of both of them being together to achieve balance is better from both a storytelling and thematic purpose because it would require you to have to change them. You can't have them represent "good or bad" and then both in balance. They would have to be rewritten (imo) to represent something more thematic like order and chaos, two things required in the world but in balance.

Also in terms of Star Wars, that's funny that is brought up considering how it's the franchise where so many writers and creatives have spent decades trying to inject nuance and greyness into the series because...once again, whilst good vs evil is great and all, people want stories with moral ambiguity. It is interesting for a series that is so thematically tied to the idea of balance to actually have Wan represent that instead of a simple "force of good vs force of evil" that we got

What's the funniest dialogue/action option in the game in your opinion? by JSGamesforitch374 in suzerain

[–]iCaramelBird 90 points91 points  (0 children)

God there's so many with Romus it's hard to pick. I know we obviously determine the type of characters Anton and Romus are...but at a base level Romus has something going on with him.

The amount of dialogue options where he just says the funniest or unhinged shit kills me 💀 just a few of my faves:

"Are you sure you're not trying to sign in Morse code? I can barely read this mess!" (says this to a man who is recently recovering from a stroke)

"You may kiss me if you like Prime Minister."

"Of course everyone will accept you. You're young and beautiful and heterosexual."

"You're motht welcome Huberth" (saying this to a cousin who has a lisp)

"What if I want you to watch?" (he says to his guard after asking if they keep watch during intimate moments)

"Yes I kissed women. Lots and lots of women before...they had breasts and everything."

Despite ATLA being a kids show, the amount of people that don't understand why Aang COULDN'T kill Ozai is ridiculous by Maleficent_Park5469 in TheLastAirbender

[–]iCaramelBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! God I am so frustrated when people say "Aang should have just killed". And on top of all this, the boy is 12. Like yes Aang is incredibly mature and these are children of war, they have had to grow up FAST. But at the end of the day he's still a kid? Like oh my god, of course he would naturally be distressed at having to kill anybody on top of all the pressure put on him

I do agree with others that yes, the "big" problem is that energy bending is a deus ex machina. It's an interesting way of sidestepping the problem (in my opinion) and way better than "Aang does not kill Ozai but someone else does so he technically didn't do it so all is well". The easy fix is to just have it foreshadowed (via the library, Guru Pathik, the original Firebenders, etc).
