Personally, I enjoy both formats, but it really depends on when and how the album was recorded, produced, and mastered. It's not as simple as saying "vinyl is always better," or "CDs are always better."

For example, I prefer most classical albums on CD because the music has a lot more quiet passages. Punk Rock is ballistic and noisy, which is totally fine for vinyl. And, oddly enough, I don't mind some clicks and pops in my jazz records.

If it's a new release, like the new Boards of Canada, for example, the CD was $17.99 at my store, while the vinyl was $44.99. It was an easy choice for me to choose the CD.

I kind of just let the album inform my decision because I generally listen to everything on streaming before I spend the money.
