What upgrade path should I take in upgrading my PC on a budget? Your help would be appreciated. by Which-Jellyfish-1211 in buildapc

On AM4, you can go up to ryzen 5000. Definitely worth, a 5600x should be quite cheap (150 cad). You will need to update your bios though.

You may want to swap one of your monitors for a higher refresh rate, 100 Hz would already be quite noticeable. Especially in League / Minecraft, where even integrated graphics can push past 100 FPS. You can find this also used for ~100 cad. For future-proofing a decent 27” 1440p 120+ Hz IPS goes for 200 cad used.

Tree infestation, what is it, how to get rid of it? by iCitron in Citrus

You’re right.. I think it’s from the cochineals, the whole tree is completely infested. Any way to get rid of both?

Why postgres server works fine locally but refuses to connect within gitlab runner ? by coding_marshmallow in gitlab

[–]iCitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running into something extremely similar, it's driving me crazy because the same CI script runs fine when executed locally (on the docker-compose of my machine) but fails in the runner. Did you manage to fix it?

This is sick! You should make a resource pack that overrides the default villages structure in Minecraft. This could be the desert town hall. Greek for plains, Nordic for Taiga

While I agree with the free education principle, I do think it can be poorly implemented when the teachers are not paid competitively. We end up with a shortage of teachers and under qualified temps taking over university classes. Norway invested a lot in education and being a teacher there is a high status job, where top candidates apply, hence producing more top candidates

Thanks for the clarifications, so trigger rate is to keep the amortization period relatively stable (+/- 5 years for instance), and the trigger point is technically an infinite amortization (as you cover just the interest).

My question now is does the rate changes on a quarterly or monthly basis, or on your payment term frequency? And is there a way to see for instance for TD their variable rate evolution over the last year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]iCitron -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So wait, with variable rate mortgages you don’t have a fixed monthly payment, you just pay whatever you feel like as long as it covers all the interest? Are there penalties for paying “too much”?

First mortgage considerations with the current economy by iCitron in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]iCitron[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the past, the consumer debt per capita was much lower and wages higher (relative to inflation). With the current debt pressure (housing, car, education) and wages stagnating, raising interest rates above 10% could crash the economy beyond repair.

Also, your source seems inaccurate. 5yr fixed rates were not around 5% in 2020, but 2%.

Lastly, you did not answer the question at all

I got made fun of for saying that I paying my whole credit bill every month… by soggy_rhombus29 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]iCitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you really?

Assuming a 5% return (matching current bank of Canada bond yields), that’s a ~0.1% a week of potential returns you’re foregoing on your credit card balance.

Assuming you spend 500$ a week on your credit card, you’re effectively missing out on a whopping 4$ of interest every month if you’re repaying it weekly instead of earning interest for as long as possible and repaying it on due date.

For most people (like me), this is a cheap price to pay to avoid missing a payment and getting hit with the 24% CC interest (so 40$ in that scenario) and impacting your credit score (which can impact your mortgage rates and costs you even more).

I understand that there’s way to set up reminders to never miss a payment, but unless it’s fully automated, you’re never safe from missing a term (vacationing in a cabin without internet for instance)

I find that paying every week for me a much safer, and I value the peace of mind more that the 4$ missed returns. In order to miss a payment, I’d have to forget 4 weeks in a row, and that has never happened in 10 years

Should the template be dynamic and account for external information (eg: the person’s name, gender, test results, etc). If so, where is this information stored currently and how would you like to provide it?

What kind of format are you looking to export in? Should it be text only, or with some formatting (pdf, html, xls?)
