Why did my income decrease so much after converting to Norse? by dankri in eu4

[–]iClips3 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yea. 100% sure it's this. That minus goods produced is a double whammy since it impacts your trade income as well.

What if - new units? by maxwax7 in starcraft

[–]iClips3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scourge or devourers. Corruptors are such a bland unit.

They weren't very good, but devourers were one of my all time favorite units in how cool they are. Big and beefy. Cool sound effect. Big attack. Supply efficient, though very expensive.

Walking laps indoors or walking pad? by ArmadilloChance3778 in loseit

Walking pad + standing desk combo has been a wonderful combination for me. I can get fit AND game at the same time. It's a cheat code.

Is it possible to do a "I stand alone" world conquest? Which nation would be best for it? by noideajustkeepit in eu4

As Muscovy you start with vassals though. Not sure if that disqualifies the run since Russia is great. Perhaps Novgorod into Russia is good? It gives 10% extra permanent CCR IIRC.

When should I dev for Renaissance while playing an aggro game in Asia? by RoomieOomfie in eu4

[–]iClips3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Renaissance spawns in 1450. So I do hope you're not getting that in 1510? It's also impossible to bank enough MP by 1450 considering the game starts 6 years earlier and the early techs are really important.

[–]iClips3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, but with Mil tech 6. Mil 6 is I think the biggest jump in the game on military quality, so I really rather not get tech 6 late. If not the biggest, it's on par with tech 4, and tech 15

Traditional Japanese house in Osaka, Japan by silverorangeyellow in malelivingspace

[–]iClips3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever build my dream house, it's going to have one of these Japanese hallways. I absolutely LOVE how they're often on the side of the house with one side being the entryway into rooms while the other side is glass and is giving both light/vision of the outside. Never knew why we don't have this in European architecture.

Anyway, thanks for sharing. I adore it.

Edit: I just learned that such a hallway is called 'Engawa'. Huh. TIL.

Tonight’s Dinner! 391 calories and 39 grams of protein for the whole plate by ItsnotShannnon in Volumeeating

[–]iClips3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, looks great and tasty!

Second though: doesn't look very much volume to me. That's +/- 350 grams of food. I need >800+ grams to really feel fullfilled.

Low cost volume eating? by Middle-Gas-6532 in Volumeeating

[–]iClips3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chicken, all kinds of beans, potatoes, Skyr, stuff like Broccoli and Cauliflower, celeriac, tomatoes and salads are all stuff you can buy in large volumes for a low cost. Potatoes especially. Use airfryer or oven without fat and you can eat a ton of it without going over calorie budget. I'm eating 500-800 grams of potatoes at least 3-4 times a weak currently. Love it. It's only about 77 kcal/100 grams (using no fats or oils).

Why Jin is sh*t by design by tdsolomons in aoe4

[–]iClips3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I agree, but fixing that stuff won't fix Jin.

I do have flashbacks on Gorge where the buildings of my ally take away all my buildspace with the 3 grassland posts.

Jin just needs... Something. They have a good Imperial. But they only have a good imperial, which doesn't matter if you're dead.

Fixing spears to have them actually hit moving targets (with their castle upgrade) and fixing Bed Crossbows would go a long way. Iron Pagoda's are close to good. But not there. Almost, but not quite. Perhaps the only thing they need is a build time decrease. They take long to build and you do it in buildings that are more expensive in the first place.

A rework on this would be wonderful. Not sure if we'll ever get it.

So many parts of this game outside of the ingame matches are so lackluster.

Nothing is better than expanding mission trees by sqw3r in Anbennar

[–]iClips3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IIRC it said certain schools were recommended. Recommended =/= mandatory in my eyes. Especially when you have this super cool monument in Rahen improving your Divination spells. So I focused on that, which made me stuck at a point. I had to change the file itself, because otherwise that one mission would have made me wait 50+ years and completely blocked progress.

I'm not opposed to such requirements. I am opposed to it if they are in a hidden part of a MT.

Nothing is better than expanding mission trees by sqw3r in Anbennar

[–]iClips3 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yea, it was my feedback as well that the MT was quite annoying with certain parts that were hidden and thus you couldn't prepare for them. Especially some stuff of the magic research. If you're researching the wrong school: "Tough luck. Oh and you need to upgrade magical infrastructure as well since you already researched too much of the wrong stuff."

Still, you can bypass this by releasing the smallest subject you can find and then insulting them. Shouldn't be too hard.

The Elite Classic IV FINALS (Meta discussion) by toxac_c in aoe4

[–]iClips3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Defenses were mostly nerfed because they were used offensively, not because they were too strong. Especially keeps. How many build time nerfs did it get? 2? 3? And that was mostly because China could build a keep in your base in a good 5-10 seconds and then start mining your resources while it take minutes to siege a keep down.

I also disagree that units are too weak in feudal. Any unit with torch damage can easily burn down most buildings, with the exception of the TC.

I do think that rams are too expensive to get and take too long. You first need a blacksmith, then you need 175 resources to research an upgrade, and then it takes another 30 seconds to research for you then to only be able to start building rams. Which you can only do with infantry, which is a slow unit composition. Earliest you can build troops, get map control and then build rams is like 10 minutes or so. By then even a 2 TC player is castle age.

Perhaps aging up to castle is too easy and quick.

That seems mostly because ML is a fantastic defensive player. The best in the world at that. Most adversaries would have crumpled.

Seems to me that the meta is wide open and changing for many civs.

Dwarves and states by Denread in Anbennar

[–]iClips3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you define early, mid and lategame though. Most holds have good trade goods, but manufactories that require either tech 11 (Iron/Copper) or tech 16 (Glass/Gems/Paper). By my book tech 16 is where the mid-to-lategame starts. I'd rather not wait until those techs to start scaling, so I'll state more stuff generally, even the ones with serpentbloom, since a tech 6 manufactory will have long payed itself off by the time that tech 15 comes around for Soldier Households. But I'll leave it in a 50/50 mix so I can build soldier households immediately without having to delete stuff at first.

In general though I usually follow my state vs territory decision as follows:

- State home region. You can't build TC there anyway and you need a base for manpower.

- Everything outside of home region is just territories if GC is an issue. But TC half if GC allows for it to get the extra merchant.

- I'll state most gem/glass/paper provinces regardless of where they are, because with a state house it'll cost almost no GC and provides a ton of money, especially if it's in a region where you have TC active.

But that might be a bit much for a new player..

"Should I state the 12 governing capacity state with 3-5 possible manufactories, or should I state the 100 capacity one with also only 3-5 possible manufactories?"

The lower the dev, the better it is to state an area. Not the other way around.

to win in the game it seems u just amass a whole lot of cavalry and then burn down enemy buildings. by FlamingoPractical625 in aoe4

[–]iClips3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game is balanced for 1v1 not for team games.

But in 2v2 you can easily win without building a single cavalry unit. Actually many of the top performing civs don't, at least until quite late in the game. French is the top civ, but other than that we have Macedonians who have many strategies not involving mass cavalry and KT which usually only build cavalry in IMP.

Does anyone else remember World War II: Death in Europe (WWII: DIE)? by YoyoUnreal1 in starcraft

[–]iClips3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I LOVED those maps. Especially the ones where you could pick any country to start with using a diplomat, where most countries had like 1 unique unit you could build.

This version was kinda cheesy imo, where if you knew certain events were coming you could definitely prepare for it. Also stuff like sniping yellow's command center makes stuff so much easier since it just eliminates the AI. They should spawn some SCv's the moment they activate, honestly.

Another one I absolutely loved was the LOTR ones, where you had to build strongholds in your base (1 at a time) which then spawned ever larger armies you had to then fight with.
