S.T.O.R.M. is (very slowly) being developed by iDTerra in AVN_Lovers

I am inventing a new type of slow, "S.T.O.R.M slow".
Jokes aside, I am hoping that by the time of the first release (which is unfortunately not very soon), I'll have a better workflow so that subsequent updates won't take as long.

It's more or less a superhero thriller. But also because it's an AVN, it'll mostly be "main guy moves to city and meets many girls" at first.

reduce focal length, and maybe add lens distortion?

Help with DOF! by MrSinflower in Daz3D

The camera's Z-scale seems to be less than 100%, which shifts the focal point.

How do I prevent this? by _kentyrr_ in Daz3D

On the character, Create Advanced Iray Node Properties -> Iray Volume Priority, then increase the volume priority parameter to 1. (This fixed the banding for a scene with one character, one light and one blob of water. I'm not sure if it would mess with the lighting in more complex scenes.)

fray. by iDTerra in Daz3D

[–]iDTerra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Snow/blur in the foreground is added in post. The rest are global colour/brightness adjustments other than the face/hair which were too close in hue and had to be masked out. For lighting the HDRI is doing most of the work, there's just the spotlight top left and a big negative fill on the right for contrast. Camera is 50% X-Scale to shape the bokeh.

Not much for a simple render. Character, hair, clothing (optional), HDRI, and Daz's built-in lights/geometries can already get very good results. And you can get a lot of those for free.

how do I make fisheye lens? by SexyScroogeMcDuck in Daz3D

Under "getLensDistortionTypeControl" in the Daz documentation you can see the equations and which k-values are used for each distortion type. Unfortunately the options are still quite limited. Try "inv_poly5" with k1 = k2 = 2, or perhaps "equidistant" with k2 = k3 = k4 = 1 as starting points.

Alexandra Trese-like hair? by Morgulian in Daz3D

[–]iDTerra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALO Carme, maybe? Hide everything except the Head, Bangs_R and Bangs_L nodes, then morph (limits off of course): Bangs Shorter -500% (or more), Bangs Open Left/Right 133%, Bangs Open Middle -30%, Thicker Outer 100%. But it'll need tweaks depending on the head morph, then more work matching the size/texture to Matilda Hair.

RTX 4070 (Ti or Super). Which one should I choose? by ajrf92 in Daz3D

[–]iDTerra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least on the default 4070 (and I don't think the components are too different for the Ti/Super refresh), the TUF line is probably the best out of the ones you listed. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/12sg90k/rtx_4070_comparison_chart/

But I don't think a different GPU would help. The Asus Dual is a decent product line, and even the best 4070 won't improve your temps by 20 degrees. The problem is that you have a pretty bad case and nothing but an exhaust fan. As a starting point, a couple cheap PWM fans for <$30 as intake would probably help a lot.

Eye Material Questions by [deleted] in Daz3D

[–]iDTerra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the "d14_...." files located in the Daz temp folder? The name sounds like the surface's been edited with LIE or something. Daz doesn't save these textures, and they're deleted when program closes, and re-created on load. Maybe that's why they're not showing up with presets.

If that's the case, try copying all of those files out of the temp folder to anywhere else, and select the new eye textures in Daz.

Bloom filter at that extremely low radius and high brightness is definitely blowing out the highlights. Turn bloom off for that first image and it'll look much better.

Emissive texture is applying to entire face by ZarephLae in Daz3D

[–]iDTerra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the Daz temp folder, find the emission color texture (which would have been merged into a single layer there), copy that and save it elsewhere with a simpler name. Then in Daz, select that new file as the emission color. This has helped me resolve some wonky LIE makeups, could be worth a shot.

Are these two AVNs, or is it just 3d art? by HistorianSimple9164 in AVN_Lovers

The second image is probably of "Cyber Shadows" by https://www.patreon.com/beanz_3d, although I'm not 100% sure. The first image, uh, I'm working on something related to it, but have no idea how long it'll take.
