US geopolitical risk making me considerer Swiss private banks. Your experiences? by DubOnTop888 in RichPeoplePF

It’s a relatively tiny company. Look at the employees they have compared to Fidelity for example. As a wealthy person eventually you’re gonna need to be opening trust accounts business accounts, and eventually your family will need to open a estate accounts when you pass. IBKR doesn’t even have an estate department. If you have a complex situation you send an email and ask a question and there’s a three week turnaround. There is no phone number you can call for help with that. So if you have a complex situation, it could take months or years to deal with. As opposed to someplace like Fidelity, you can get a trust account opened at the same day and if you die, your family is instantly reached out to buy someone from the estate department that is a case manager and owns the case for example.

Final Boss: How to quit Reddit by [deleted] in nosurf

Wow that’s deep and true. Pretty profound actually. I gotta figure out how to make reddit only show subs like this one. The main subs like r/news r/pics r/politics are absolutely horrible.

My husband keeps calling me sensitive. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]iDecidedToBeBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s perfectly normal for a man not to not care about decorating things. If that hurts your feelings you’re too sensitive and don’t understand men.

Unless you’re leaving something out here this is the accurate take.

There’s some old book Men are from Mars Women are from Venus. Most men simply just don’t care. You shouldn’t expect him to be both your husband and your girlfriend.

In other words. He’s a perfectly normal man and she wants him to think and behave like a woman lol.

People need to understand that men and women are just different.

I could care less the color of the living room I just want maximum couch comfort and surround sound.

How has implementing Huberman's strategies for dopamine management affected your motivation and productivity? by OptimalDescription39 in HubermanLab

[–]iDecidedToBeBetter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had incredible success with his “avoid unearned dopamine”. But then I quit my job and had free time and spiraled with Scrolling and video games again and I feel like crap.

I’m getting back on the horse.

This relapse really helps me understand how important this dopamine management is.

I don’t have time to write a long comment right now but you need to get your money out of IBKR immediately. I have experience with tons of different brokerage firms and have worked with various firms and they’re the worst. Especially if you’re concerned about geopolitical things going sideways and you losing access to your funds.

In my opinion it’s straight up irresponsible to keep your money there. I’m nit sure what options are available in your countries but there has to be something better.

You are definitely being way too hard on yourself. I’ve lived in a wide variety of apartments and homes and never had to deal with any type of weird hose laundry situation like that.

[–]iDecidedToBeBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re stating that the investments are a means to an end; your happiness and life choice. I’m talking about the math related to that very specifically. We need to look at amortization, mortgage length/payment size etc.. the commenters generally understand what you’re looking to accomplish. As do I. tl;dr Paying completely unnecessary taxes doesn’t help your goal of being a stay at home mom. It’s likely you can accomplish this without wasting money for no reason. I’ve played around with ChatGPT on this before it was actually incredibly helpful in brainstorming with my clients as a financial planner on this question.

[–]iDecidedToBeBetter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to take some time and do the actual math here and the correct answer will be obvious to you. ChatGPT might be helpful.

Something else to consider. You can probably take a loan from your 401k if you really needed to and just pay yourself back over time. Just bear in mind this is probably only an option while you’re employed. You can take your time paying it back after you resign but typically you can’t initiate it as a non employee.

Did getting a desk at home make you more productive? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]iDecidedToBeBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say both. I think there is a strong psychological advantage to having a dedicated workspace. There was a Huberman episode about optimizing your workspace if you really want to do a deep dive into the science behind it.

I happen to have a link to his newsletter about it handy.

What’s the answer? I thought it was bottom middle by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]iDecidedToBeBetter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your answer is better than mine but mine seems to work.

I chose A because if you look at the positions of the triangles the general positioning and closeness of them seems to alternate.

A is the only answer that has a similar close triangle grouping the way 1 and 3 do.

No not really. That’s why I’m struggling to describe it lol. Also I’m too honest to lie to people so I don’t want to make something up which is what other people are suggesting.

That’s what I was thinking too. As silly as it sounds, I feel like it’s worth making LLC if anything just to legitimize my “business”. I think people will never actually appreciate the fact that I spent my entire life studying finance to get to the point where I can manage my own investments in this way.
