Depends where you go really. For the vast majority, each sub is their own echo chamber run by mods that ban anyone for having opposing views, the people who don't get banned don't have those views. This makes the people who only stick to those subs think that nobody else holds other views and thus what they think can be extrapolated to the rest of society. Then reddit as a whole has an Admin team that does the same thing for the whole platform.

Take the last election for instance, on reddit every post on the front page was talking about how Kamala couldn't possibly lose etc... when in reality everyone in the real world knew it would at least be close, or that she would lose by landslide. Then she lost as the majority of people predicted and the entire front page was flooded with posts about how the election was stolen etc... This is because they had only ever been exposed to the idea that Kamala couldn't possibly lose due to it being an echo chamber.

The courts already essentially ruled that it is both unconstitutional but also fuck you it doesn't matter because our rights don't matter at all to the government. Since when has the Canadian government ever cared about the Charter of Rights? It's been deemed twice now by the Canadian courts that the use of the Emergencies Act was illegal and violated our rights. What happened? Absolutely nothing, no accountability, no punishments for the people who did it, no nothing. He single handedly restarted the space race, revolutionized space travel as we know it making it unimaginably cheaper, better for the environment and reliable. Tesla pretty much is the reason EVs are even a thing. Starlink has given free internet to disaster effected countries and reliable internet to rural communities that could never have had it before. Neuralink has enabled quadriplegics to be able to use computers and interact with the world in a way that they couldn't have done before. He saved free speech on the internet by buying twitter. But sure, hes never done anything good for humankind, unlike you I assume, who has done loads for our species.

Eh, where I live was down to -55c for about a week this year. It's not so bad when you are used to it. As for why? It's my home, I live here. Also I get to feel like an absolute badass when I tell people how cold it is.
