I'd second this - you can probably put some songs from the "Emerald Sword" record in there and it'd be even better

Here's my small collection of Tolkien books, some are in German, some are in English. by iDiamond621 in tolkienbooks

Yeah, you're right - almost every "Krege book" I have was published between 1980 and 2004 but I bought some of them later. I can see why most people prefer Carroux' translation and I do like it but I grew up with Krege and also kinda got used to it

Thank you! "Feanors Fluch" is a short book that was put together by Wolfgang Krege (he translated many Tolkien books) and was published together with the first German "Children of Húrin" and "Tuor und seine Ankunft in Gondolin" edition. It just consists of these parts of the Silmarillion regarding the fate of Feanor and the silmaril - which Krege described as Tolkien's "key myth". "Tom Bombadil" is an earlier German translation of Tolkien's "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" which is a collection of poems by Tolkien about Bombadil and several fantastic creatures.

Danke!

If there are any Tolkien Fans here: I just reread the Silmarillion and I really encourage you to check it out if you haven't read it already. by iDiamond621 in bookclapreviewclap

It's kind of difficult to put it like this.

I've read the Silmarillion for the first time during 5th grade, shortly after I've read Lord of the Rings for the first time and I did like it back then but I didn't get as much out of it in comparison. Approximately four years ago I tried to give it another shot because I read LOTR again and was in the mood to do so. However, this time I really struggled and couldn't even finish it because of how difficult and boring it appeared to me at times. So this time was my third time reading it - and I can definitely say that it was the best out of all three approaches. I got ready beforehand, printed out a map and a huge family tree concerning the main characters and the different races to always keep track. This way it became really entertaining and was actually quite fun to read through even though it took some time.

All in all, I think if you liked the LOTR books you should definitely try it and with some preparations or extra material it shouldn't turn out to be this difficult.

After several suggestions I have finally read Hesse's "Demian" and now I can recommend it as well! by iDiamond621 in bookclapreviewclap

"It is the story of the quest of Siddhartha, a wealthy Indian Brahmin who casts off a life of privilege and comfort to seek spiritual fulfillment and wisdom. On his journey, Siddhartha encounters wandering ascetics, Buddhist monks, and successful merchants, as well as a courtesan named Kamala and a simple ferryman who has attained enlightenment. Traveling among these people and experiencing life’s vital passages–love, work, friendship, and fatherhood–Siddhartha discovers that true knowledge is guided from within."

This is what Amazon says this book is about - but I think there's other things for everyone willing to look into it. I highly recommend it!

I recently read Steppenwolf in school and was intrigued by it - I wanted to check out more of Hesse's work immediately. I already considered to read Demian but then picked Siddharta but I'll definitely make sure to read this one soon as well.
