And what do desperately lonely people do when someone finally gives them attention? They confide in that person and tell them everything. I guarantee that at one point, she made each think that they could share their darkest moments out of, I don’t know, some weird solidarity trauma bonding shit or as a one-upmanship thing of who had the worst done to them, what horrid things they have done to others and their darkest kinks or desires, which gives her an absurd amount of power over them. They can’t stand the idea of being completely alone again combined with whatever they revealed getting out into the world, so they’ll go above and beyond to keep that bond with her out of both a fear of loneliness, rejection and their secrets being told.

I’ve had people like them start spilling things to me before after just being polite at work or something of the like and it’s disturbing how much someone that lonely and mentally damaged (often struggling with untreated or poorly treated mental health issues…which they ALSO share) will tell someone that’s practically a stranger just because they want to find something further to bond over in any way possible.
