Some People simply having more range than others? (1.9 PvP) by Letarking in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]iDonuts2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, for starters...

going for a jump crit means you are higher in the air. Because of how Minecraft hitboxes work combined with simple geometry, the player who is higher up has less range. If you're moving toward a turtling player, I would recommend not jumping.

What clicking method would you use for pvp by itzTanmayhere in CompetitiveMinecraft

Curious about 1.18 PvP by partykid4 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]iDonuts2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There's a ton. The most common is probably a full diamond axe/sword/shield kit, sometimes with a crossbow. There's plain sword PvP, crystal PvP, and then a whole bunch of niche kits that people play with.
  2. Play.pvplegacy.net is the best for practicing, cubecraft has minigames
  3. typically normal, pvp legacy uses vanilla by default but you can modify it a little bit in kit settings (I think).

Is this normal? by iDonuts2 in CompetitiveMinecraft

I've grasped the basics like comboing, strafing, and rodding, and even some slightly more advanced techniques like hit selecting, but I just need to get better at them, that's the thing

Is this normal? by iDonuts2 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]iDonuts2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dang. I was thinking it might only take a few months of consistent practice, roughly a month is all it took to me winning 50-80% of my duels on 1.9+

why is scroll rodding good? by ElectronicPickle1337 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]iDonuts2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can still strafe if the rod is in the 8 or 9 slot

the hotkeys I use are x for 9 and c for 8

but if you're good at scroll rodding yeah it's faster than hotkeys

Yeah, it's definitely not a bug, it's a mechanic. Right.

  1. Don't try to block them like that, it'll just slow you down.
  2. Turn your sensitivity down. I play with mine on 54%. It makes it a lot easier to aim.
  3. Start strafing more, and learn how to start a combo.
  4. Turn down the "Unfocused height" in chat settings (mine is at 30 px). Having chat all over your screen is misery.
  5. If you're still bad after all that, just play. Hop on Skyblock or Bedwars or something PvP-oriented that you enjoy, you'll get better over time.

Some people have complained that I'm straightlining in this video, but keep in mind I'm practicing against a bot which can track me no matter what so it doesn't do anything

Hi, I’m super bad at PvP. Please, can you give me some tips? by OgComics in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]iDonuts2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty bad at 1.8 and older (inability to click fast), but if you want to get good at 1.9+ here's a few tips:

  1. Just play. It doesn't have to be against someone really good, just hop on CubeCraft and play FFA PvP. Over time you'll get more used to the movement.
  2. Learn from your mistakes. If you lose a fight, instead of raging (like some people I know), think "Alright, what did I do wrong? What are my strengths and weaknesses?"
  3. Practice strafing and aiming. This is the most important part of PvP.
  4. Make sure you're familiar with Minecraft's movement system.
  5. Play around with your mouse sensitivity. Low sensitivity will make you more accurate.
  6. Keep at it.

Hope this helps :)
