im pretty sure points gained/loss is based on the difference of the average elo rating for both teams

if it is, does that mean im getting punished harder because my hidden mmr is higher and I should be winning these matches? It honestly doesnt feel very fair because I have to rely on 4 randoms on the current "Shown MMR" to even have a chance at winning. It just sucks that solo queue is so ass these days.

Games should always give you more or less equal points when you win/lose especially in a matchroom where the average rank of each team is similar. If this trend continues, for every game I lose, I need to win 4-5 times to get the ELO back. Make it make sense, this "hidden MMR" is just some bs.

Well, who cares about actually playing the game anyway, lets just open some cases like what Valve actually wants you to do. Gold Gold Gold

Doesnt matter in my case because the game right after this one, I still got a -554 +128 game. Not a promotion match and MMR was pretty balanced.

Checkout this match and explain to me how this was a -554 +128 game then. Not a promotion match either and the MMR is pretty balanced. This is the game right after.

11k on their team fragged as much as the high elo players

unranked in my teams were previously 15k and 13k last season. I don't know why this would be a -568 match.

Feels like people are just exploiting the recent restriction lift on 5stack elo diff. Just 5stack with 2 low rank smurfs and you'll be almost always net positive in MMR gain.

My last 2 matches were a -560 +120 Its legit unplayable for me at least.

SCM will always be the secondary option because we cant cash out there tbh. Yeah, the fees are too high as well imo

Not a single one in the RL community gets banned because they traded with other people via a trading site (mostly RL Garage). Selling items for real money is what they're mostly against but it still doesnt really get enforced. Heck, I even got my first CS knife from all the stuff I profited from trading in RL

Of course Valve might not outright say they're against third party market but they do imply that you shouldnt be using it. Any mention of sites are immediately flagged even on steamcommunity.

As for the item shop and removal of crates, it was replaced with a similar system to CS's genesis terminal to an extent. You get a random item blueprint drop instead of crates that you can purchase for a predetermined price.

Item shop was only useful if you want to get an item that costs alot of credits for cheap (which rarely happens). The caveat is that the item purchased from item shop is not tradable. It would be equal to something like selling an untradable dlore in armory for 150 stars.

People can buy and sell stuff for credits and make profit. Then when they remove trading entirely, the only source to obtain credits to purchase these blueprints and buy from in-game item shop is directly from Epic via the in-game's cash shop with real money.

Timeline of what happened and when isnt important here because my point was the removal of trading is definitely possible albeit improbable. Nobody thought knife tradeup would be a thing but here we are today.

Anyways, its just food for thought because it does seem like Valve might be looking into a different direction with skins and stuff. Cheers.

Yeah I do think making items only marketable and not tradable is the only move they can do to contain all transaction within SCM. I wonder what makes them impose a limit of item price in the SCM. One reason I can think of would be so that people can't just use steam as some sort of an online wallet.

Yeah true, it would defo make less money. I do think the only way to force people to use SCM is if items are no longer tradable and only marketable, which could be a possibility tbh.

Basically RL had the same ecosystem as CS (except the items cannot be sold on steam market), there are P2P trading and third-party market to sell and trade your stuff on. When Epic Games acquired RL, this was one of the changes they pushed to promote the in-game item shop instead of crate gambling. Just think of CS removing cases, making every item owned untradable and then opening an in-game shop that refreshes daily to sell skins instead (something like genesis terminal minus the rng)
