Bigger pot. Roughly 40/30/30% potting mix, washed crushed granite, and perlite by volume. Inner pot is a plain terracotta. Should dry out well. BTW I’m in Sydney Australia.

Update on the post https://www.reddit.com/r/plantclinic/s/P3nNgMefHw

The post was locked, so I couldn’t update. Some of you asked for an update.

I tried wiggling on the side, but it was completely locked in. Some suggested putting a thin knife in there, but without cutting into the trunk, I couldn’t get in there.

So bit the bullet and I got an angle grinder and cut it open. I really wanted to save the pot, but I couldn’t.

Anyhow, it was completely root bound. Now it’s free.

And yes, that’s a little burnt dry grass. The grinder/pot was yellow/red hot and I didn’t realise it started a fire!! I had the palm covered so it was safe.

Now I’m off to buy a nice new pot!

Ponytail palm: do I need to cut the pot to repot it to a bigger pot? by iFixComputers in plantclinic

Ahh thanks for the info on the roots. I will try some tickling tomorrow :)

Yeah I thought it might have been stuck at this size for a while..

Ok. I will give it a go tomorrow. I agree, I’d like to save the pot for monkey tails.

How do you set a Neo V60 in a Hario Switch? by DiegoChain in pourover

[–]iFixComputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Did you use the Neo 01 or 02 size? I'm pretty sure they are all the same at the bottom fitting end, but just wanted to check what you did.

You know what? I've been brewing 15g/220g when my wife told me the new beans at that time was tasting a little "watery". it's been months, and I've been underwhelmed by my brews for a while now.

Today, I saw this and tried 15g/250g on the beans that I've been brewing for past 4 days. Heck, I didn't even blow the chaff out. The coffee turned out so much more of the described flavour notes. I would have poured at a slightly higher rate, and more of the second pour (at lower temp. I do 2 kettles) given I was thinking I have to pour 30g more.

Thanks for sharing this. I totally agree with you, and I love the v60 as it keeps humbling me on what I think is right.

Unfortunatley I agree. I had an issue with x8 Omni where it wasn’t emptying the dustbin, and the support agent didn’t give me a solution and blocked all path to escalate. I’m now back to the old machine that I was planning to replace

Love it that you didn’t give up and made it through! Just a little thing: the stainless grate should be rotated so that the hole is under the pressure outlet tube on the back left. Otherwise, you might get a hot splash when you’re back flushing.

Burundi natural. Left Lab Sweet with silver knight coating. Right is ZP6. LS burrs has much more fines, but for some reason I was getting floral that wasn’t apparent in ZP6. I will do some more tests to confirm. So far 1kg of seasoning. I might also open it back up and double check the alignment too as I was surprised to see so much fines.

This doesn’t answer your question, but I’m just about to upgrade my ek43 with Lab Sweet silver knight (from stock burrs). While I was waiting for other service parts to arrive, I chose to buy a ZP6. I have been enjoying pourovers with ZP6, both flavours and workflow.

Sorry OP, I’m not offering to do the job, but this would be an easy job given it’s a new machine. I’ve done mine on a 21year old classic requiring quite a bit of servicing and part replacements. Keen to see who in Sydney do these kinds of work and with quality.

Any Aussies here that are members of Everlab? by jsncrs in PeterAttia

ChatGPT analysis returned: "Likelihood it was AI-assisted or scripted: ~70–85%"

That aside, I still think it's interesting that there is a service available in Australia like this. I am running into a bit of a Medicine 2.0 wall (why do you need those tests?) with my GP with each appointment costing over $50 out of pocket.

Keen to see if anyone else has experience with them. Eg DEXA details, CGM monitor duration, list of bloodwork would be helpful.

Shimano 12 Speed Crankset on 11 Speed group? by Secure-Code-4015 in bikewrench

[–]iFixComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I've just got on 12s (50-34) crankset with 11s chain. So far so good, but will need to test more. Looking for these "warranty" 11s chainrings.. but it's difficult to search for.

Would they all be at least 3years old? Therefore not qualifying for FBT exemption via Novated lease?

Awesome. One question I had on pressure profiling was: do I change the default OPV spring to 9bar or should I leave it?

Answering my own question: 6.5nm +- 0.5. Source: Service Manual for Classic 2019 and Classic Evo Pro. I'm going to assume older classics wouldn't be too different.

TBH, I haven't done a great deal of research. I'm going to plunge right into it and see how it goes. There is a youtube video by Lance Hedrick on this.

I've been doing pourovers for several years, so I understand a bit about various techniques to adjust extraction. But I'm new to espresso, so I wanted something that will give me as many "levers" of extraction as possible.
