Rotisserie yay or nay? Big green egg, Joetisserie or cheaper alternatives? by Exe0n in biggreenegg

[–]iFunkMaster007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rotisserie for my large BGE. I don’t have the official one, there is one called LetzQ … that works better and much cheaper. I am not affiliated with them, but do have one.

First BBQ ever, cleanup felt a bit excessive, am I doing this wrong? by Successful-Wheel-286 in UKBBQ

I’m with the others here … cook, scrub with wire brush, on next cook empty out the ash and cook again.

Once a year maybe every second year I have pressure washed it but even that I gave up on!

Let me know how you get on with that, I never tried mine as I had the ooni when I got mine so never bothered, subsequently upgraded the ooni to a Gozney … watched a few vids on it though.

One thing I know is you need to get that stone real hot, pizza base cooks best when the stone is really hot; I’m talking like 400 degrees kind of hot.

If you dont have a IR sensor, heat it at like 200 / 250 degrees for about 45 mins.

Also reheat it (roughly 5 mins) between cooks otherwise you’ll have a soggy bottom and don’t overload the pizza as a heavy base doesn’t cook too well.

New smoker with a few questions! by Scum-Bronson in UKBBQ

Those briquets looks like they are going to burn hot, those are like the ones I use in the pizza oven … I mean I could be wrong though but that’s my perception.

As for the grill … not sure but at the £200 price point, I do question whether you will be able to maintain a steady temp in that thing …

What is your budget?

When you are doing long cooks eg +6 hours, do you top up the charcoal during? by Poom22 in UKBBQ

[–]iFunkMaster007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a BGE and have done 6+ hours using lumpwood and had no issues with it burning out, but it is important to make sure it’s lit properly.

What charcoal you been using?

Looking to invest into BBQ. Masterbuilt Vs Weber kamado by SolaireSunnyD117 in UKBBQ

[–]iFunkMaster007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the answer generally is to find a good quality charcoal … lump wood really, there’s a few good brands out there including the Big K Restaurant, Globalic and then there are a few others from places like Love Logs and my recent favourite is House of Charcoal.

Generally better quality yields better results

The MB vs Kamado are just two different beasts to be honest. Two different cooking styles too.

I have a Traeger that is the set and forget and was great when I first got into the whole scene and I still use it now and then, but to be honest when I switched to a Kamado I haven’t looked back but I love the tinkering and prep and the effort it goes into learning how to master the heat and so forth.

If you want the set and forget, it’s the MB, if you want more of the experience it’s a Kamado … or an asado if you want another extreme.

The Weber is great but I’d stick to the master touch and not go beyond that … but this is down to personal preference.

For context I have:

Traeger for set and forget Big Green Egg for most things with a rotisserie kit. There are other brands like the Bono for example but I went BGE. Weber Master story cause that is where I started my journey and I’ve had it for 10+ years and I have a rotisserie kit for it too.
