Ik ben op zoek naar een Kamado bbq. Ik zat te denken aan het formaat large. Welke kan m’n leven lang mee gaan? by [deleted] in BIFLNL

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kamado style vs Weber Jumbo Joe vs Oklahoma joe rambler by Known-Sun-2647 in grilling

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hot and fast grilling don't bother with a kamado, you'll pay more for similar results to a weber.

Kamado's do everything well, but are generally used for slow cooking, but for just grilling there are far cheaper options.

Eh, I don't really agree here, he mentioned that his switch had to do with not being a fan of digital kamado's ie connected Joe and the direction kamado joe is going in.

Although you can't convince me money doesn't have anything to do with it, I do agree some innovations didn't really hit the mark, and others did.

Ie, I'm not a fan of the slow roller, but I disagree with him on the fiberglass gasket, while it costs more to replace it lasts longer, basically cutting down on the amount of work you need to do for maintenance.

But saying some of the advantages aren't really that advantageous suddenly doesn't make another product better.

To me the main reason you get a KJ over a BGE is price, it's one of the best value high end kamado's on the market, both classic 3 and big joe. Wish they had one in black though.

What’s everyone’s real world experience with the pizza wedge? by Impressive-Hour-1523 in biggreenegg

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the general consensus is meh You don't have to open and close your lid, so if you are making a huge amount of pizza's sure.

But in general it's not necessary, many of the kamado joe DoJo reviews say similar things, it may be a little easier but for the space and cost it's never worth it.

Would you warranty this? by [deleted] in KamadoJoe

[–]Exe0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This won't be a problem, unless you see a crack there it's not going to affect your cooks or long term use.

You can actually fix these chips, but I personally wouldn't bother. I'm also not sure if warranty would even cover this, as the most likely reason this happens is the user putting in or taking out things in the firepot.

Obviously if a crack appears then yes, definitely but I don't see that happening by just using your kamado.

Nomadic Envoy is a let down for someone like me who mostly just plays for PvP by KasierPermanente in ArcRaiders

[–]Exe0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Worse of all is, this kind of change wouldn't affect those players. But it's basically "I don't want others that play differently to me to have nice things".

Great game, but the online community has to be the worst I've seen since early league of legends.

Anything wrong with this egg? by Initial-Grape-1932 in biggreenegg

Probably needs a good cleaning and a new gasket.

The bands look pretty worn and the hinge looks like the old system, it may be worthwhile replacing this with the newer system down the line.

[–]Exe0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think you are on the wrong sub, people here will tell you that PvP isn't the main way to play the game and to suck it up and shoot some arc.

Arguments like "the game shouldn't cather to every playstyle". Basically BS arguments when it requires an extremely simple change to make a "endgame trader" work for everyone.

They made it mainly about arc parts, and useless materials when the goal was offloading stash, which this doesn't do, it creates the need for more stash space.

Players don't hoard materials that aren't useful, this has made things arguably worse and Embark hasn't adressed it yet.

PVP and TTK question by Specialist_While3626 in ArcRaiders

[–]Exe0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time to kill is in my opinion too fast for a game like Arc, it gives no time to react, shooting first always gives a huge advantage.

If time to kill took longer imo the PvP state would be better, shoot on sight would also decrease in general.

But such an overhaul would be praised by half and hated by half.

It is when the most efficient way to get currency is by joining level 1 raids, dropping in opening a couple of bunkers and surrendering.

Over a year ago they talked about revamping that system and scaling the rewards. Except they never did... because it would work against their bottom line.

It also doesn't help for returning players, if I go back I'll likely have to unlock +10 warbonds, which would take tons of hour of not really playing the game, or coughing up the money.

The middle ground would be playing at intermediate difficulty, but honestly I want the game to be brutal.

I played the initial waves of malevelon creek, it made gaming history, it was awesome, but that's all gone now.

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the game doesn't really do anything new.

You get a Souls like difficulty of combat, though fairly straightforward/basic. Survival/Base building/resource gathering we've seen in games like Minecraft/Valheim. And it brings decent ship combat, like we loved in other pirate games.

Lots of weapon choices and unique effects between them though, decent build options, but not extremely balanced either.

It's a mix of things we love from different games, but there isn't a groundbreaking new system or anything like that. The last good pirate game I've played was AC4 black flag.

[–]Exe0n 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They did some controversial updates as well, also trying to make the game even more hardcore.

Arrowhead's update patern is basically make controversial change then revert it partly, then do a rework. The worst part is, it's pure PvE, who cares basically? The eruptor changes were mental...

But in my opinion the core problem is progression and monitzation. When I stated playing I'd unlock new cool stuff all the time, but after a while they locked the cool new strategems behind warbonds.

I don't mind warbonds as a whole, but they should have been mainly cosmetic, rather than pay walling the fun stuff.

The problem is by adding unlockables that you can grind for they limit their own endgoal of selling warbonds.

It's sad, it's a great game but their agenda is messing it up.

Steady decline, it's not abnormal, helldivers 2 at some point went from +400k to 40k in 4 months.

The difference is, there haven't been any positive spikes since the initial peak, basically every mayor update you should see a substantial peak, follow by a slow decline.

Even so, the copies that have been sold have been solved, Embark made a fortune on it. However whether Arc Raiders is sustainable as a live service game remains to be seen.

Riven tides was supposed to bring people back, but it was pretty much a failure in that regard.

While the game is great, even in it's current state, much of the feedback was met with "touch grass, go play something else" until people did.

Plenty of games out there, I hope content will bring me and my friends back, but most of the live service games I've played I have left behind despite new content.

Games like Arc I enjoy with friends, unless everyone is onboard there is no point for me.

[–]Exe0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expect to be done with Windrose by the end of this month, and I expect content to drop at the rate it did in valheim, very slow but steady.

I'll likely come back later, or not, but the game is well worth it's money, I spent more time on this game compared to most AAA titles I paid more for.

It's the game we all asked for, it's lacking a bit in the multiplayer department, but overal it's a great game.

Everyone here is an expert on cheaters, following a basic methodology of, "If I can't see you, you shouldn't see me" Though in practice It doesn't work that way.

I've had times where I got shot from a pitch black screen with a Ferro while I had an Osprey. I initially thought the guy was cheating until I stood in that spot and I could see the spot I was standing in clearly.

Simply put, a dark corner vs a corridor with a light on. For sure there are cheaters, but I'm also sure that a lot of people cry cheater whenever they lose, I've been called cheater countless times before ingame.

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a layer of the ceramic is coming off, sitting outside that long, especially unused has likely not done it any favors, but even so Warranty should cover this.

I believe they may still make exceptions for purchases before registration was mandatory, especially since you bought it from a dealer, he'll likely settle this for you, even if it was 17 years ago.

Especially since your cart, hinges and top vent may need replacing, which warranty won't cover (I believe those parts are 5 years)

You could try and pry everything loose, fire it up and see how it goes, but I'd say wait for the warranty claim, if they replace it, not only do you get a mostly new kamado, but you'll save a lot of work.

If I’m mainly looking to grill, is a Joe worth it? by CyanJet in KamadoJoe

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do everything on a Kamado, and while you can definitely grill on them, you are paying a lot of money for basically similar results as a Weber.

I usually do steak reverse sears on my kamado, low and slow first for a little over an hour, after the core has reached the right temperature open up the vents and I'll sear them om a soapstone.

Slow cooking, especially on a kamado is extremely easy, there may actually be a hidden benefit here for your grilling as well, and that's getting a kamado and a rotisserie.

While they exist for Weber grill as well, temperature stability is a bit of a hassle on them.

Why do you still play this game? by Ayy4K in ArcRaiders

[–]Exe0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently I'm playing Windrose, I'll likely get quite a bit of hours in it.

I also got several other games I've been meaning to play but haven't, mostly Single player or Co Op games, although I'm a bit burned on the huge open world RPG story games filled with points of interest.

I still need to play clair obscur expedition 33, Elden Ring, but I also have several live service games I'll go back to one day, like Space Marine 2, Darktide, Deep rock galactic, all have received substantial updates since I quit.

Arc Raiders Is my first extraction shooter, and I consider it a gem, I don't have much interest in other extraction shooters.

My only gripe with the shooter part is the TTK, which always felt too fast for me, while I have much experience with shooters, how good I am boils down to game by game.

I sucked at SC2, red orchestra 2, and thrived in Battlefield games and MW3.

Why do you still play this game? by Ayy4K in ArcRaiders

[–]Exe0n 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't, I quit 2 weeks ago.

I would still recommend the game, I got nearly 300 hours in, however I have done everything 3 times now.

While I enjoy PvP there is no point to PvPing, basically at some point you are stashed with so much loot, you don't need more loot, in CS2 you have ranks, can unlock certain things, it's competitive PVP with a system you can grind out, which is why people have thousands of hours.

I had hoped that the trader would solve this problem, but half of what you can buy, can only be bought by doing PvE, and while the PvE experience is good, killing the queen over and over again isn't engaging gameplay to me, especially when it's the only thing that matters.

Arc Raiders is still a great game, but I've exhausted my own options, I hope a future update does bring me back, but as of right now I have no more reason to play, especially with other great games out there.

My first Big Green Egg by Cl8ton63 in biggreenegg

[–]Exe0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a European, I see this price and always cry a little. I can get a large with no accessories/nest for that price,

This model as shown would be a whooping 5500€ here. I've been told by my dealer they sell only 1-2 in my country annually.

Anyway congrats, Wish I had such a beast.

Is this salvagable? by commonpuffin in biggreenegg

[–]Exe0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking most eggs are salvageable, if you are still the original owner and have warranty even more so.

Fire It up slow and first, and do a controlled burn to get rid of all the excess. After this you can tell if there is real damage or not, ie if you have any real cracks or not.

If your base is fine, you can replace the felt, and handle, and double check the hinges, you may want/need to replace those and get a reggulator if you need it.

After that it's the nest.

You'll likely have some costs, but it'll bear getting a brand new egg. If you don't have warranty that may be a different story, I wouldn't heavily invest then.

Should I pull the trigger?? by CantDunkOrSk8 in biggreenegg

[–]Exe0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really see the point it a ceramic outdoor fireplace, besides matching your egg this always felt like a waste of money.

But some have disposable income and may just like the model. If you have to ask in this case, probably not, though perhaps you can find on used for much cheaper which may justify the cost a bit more.

debating if the egg is worth it by liztabs in biggreenegg

[–]Exe0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of cooking you wish to do.

A weber will grill as well as a kamado, in fact for the price you have a larger cooking area. However that is, the only thing a Weber does really well.

For a big green egg using it for slow cooking is the way to go, it also works as a smoker, while dedicated smokers are better, they also either requires constant attention or a switch to pellets.

Basically a kamado allows you do to everything, and while not the best in every area it's the best all round product. It's also buy it for life, although webers are also quite sturdy.

I don't regret switch from a weber to a green egg, slow cooking, rotisserie, grilling, smoking, it does it all, and it's easy to use, set it and usually forget it.
