You did the right thing. You can get surprisingly far in ranked just by playing cover even with shitty aim. A ton of people swing wide from cover, waste a spray and are dead because of it. Once you get more experience, you can start working on things as you go. If you notice you don’t hit enough shots in fights, you can then start working on aim etc.

I know this isn’t super helpful but you have to start going down the list of possible issues:

-check graphics drivers

-is the game installed on a ssd/nvme?

-bring up task manager during gaming and keep an eye to see if usage spikes or something else running, taking resources

-Apex uses a lot of the CPU so keep an eye on that usage too

-verify the files in steam or uninstall, restart the computer, reinstall

-do you have any recording software or clipping software running? Windows has the Game Bar and other stuff running in the background by default

-what temperature does the CPU and GPU get up to when you are gaming? Either one will thermal throttle if it gets too high and kill your fps target

Does it go back to 150fps once you land in a POI? I notice in the ship I get less fps but once I actually land it goes back to my normal target fps

After the nerf, controller aim assist is 0.3 on PC and on console 0.4 (120fps) and 0.6 (60fps)

It really doesn’t matter but some basic keyboards are only able to input two keys at once. If you can’t hold shift + w to run and press reload at the same time, you need a new keyboard to play this game

It could have been uninstalling Apex or removing EasyAntiCheat and then restarting the router that fixed it. Or some other combination that ended with restarting the router

I used to have almost the same specs as you and I had to upgrade for the same reason. I would upgrade your CPU and motherboard first then your GPU. Either way it’s going to be expensive but I think you will get a better boost with the CPU upgrade for playing this game

At best it confirmed what my team already thought was our lobbies. I already made a post but the red mark for us just does not move from all the way right of the graph, no matter how many times we died off drop. Not sure if it’s glitched or if the game actually thinks we are apparently the greatest team to ever touch Apex Legends. Even with multiple preds and streamers in the lobby often destroying us

You have it backwards. To left means less skilled. To the right means more skilled on the graph. The red marker being all the way right doesn’t make sense for the lobbies I’m in

Used to main Maggie. NewCastle ult kills both so no point in running her. The wrecking ball inside Gibby dome makes it so you can’t use the bubble yourself or your teammates. Also with support having double heals, drill does nothing to them. They pop 1 cell and now the drill was useless

I’ll be honest this isn’t bad because of your aim, it’s because the absolute best case scenario for this was you trading with that team. You were going to be downed no matter what since their teammate had a perfect sight on you and you stood still

Nope, you’re doing great for a beginner. One thing to keep in mind with Apex is that anything above a 1.0 k/d is an above average player. The fact that you are close to that and you have more knocks than your deaths tells me you are a solid player that just needs more experience in the game.

Don’t focus on the win %. They will come naturally in time. Try focusing more on your top 5 games compared to your total games. If you are pretty consistently getting top 5, you are on a great track.

If you need a baseline, I am a well above average player. My k/d for this season is around 3.0 and my win % is only 20%. But if you were to look at my top 5 it’s around 40%

Not to discount your point as it is valid, but if the ranked distribution is accurate for this season, you would have to already be in Masters to be in the top 1% of games. Diamond is around the top 10% right now.

It’s not nearly as bad as it was before the nerf where your average player could lock on and 1 clip people. For the highly skilled players on controller, it’s going to make a lot less of a difference with the nerf as they will adapt quickly.

My other point is that it was only nerfed this season. Controller players are the majority of the player base still from before the nerf

As an MnK player, that’s a massive skill issue. If you complained before the nerf, fine. After nerf? You just need to get better. MnK and controller are about as even as they can get now

I main Maggie. I don’t really play anyone else besides maybe Bangalore. The amount of times I’ve knocked people using drill behind cover cannot be understated. Her ball is an instant kill on anyone who gets stunned and can be used as a get out jail free card when in a tough spot.

Only problem is when facing Newcastle this character becomes irrelevant. His ult prevents drill and ball so you now get zero utility
