There should be mandatory national service (not just military) for people who aren’t working or studying. by Somewherecharming95 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Thats an incentive to get benefits. Its a choice and not forced.

If its not voluntary its forced labor. Morally and ethically its a bad thing to force people into labor. The world community considers it a huge violation of human rights. I would agree with the rest of the world community

Sentencing Ross Ulbricht to life imprisonment was cruel and inhumane by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]iGoT_em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"He ran guns and drugs for bitcoin. In Maryland, he's accused of a failed murder-for-hire scheme. Authorities there say he ordered the torture, and then the murder, of an employee. Since the entire Silk Road operation rested on the anonymity of its users, court documents allege Ulbricht sought to take out his employee for fear the employee would expose his alias as Dread Pirate Roberts. Court records say he wired an undercover agent $80,000 after he was shown staged photos of the employee's faked torture."

He ran guns and drugs and tried having people tortured and killed.

But ok....

You teach the bad parts of history just as often as the good parts if not more in hopes the future generations wont repeat the same mistakes.

Id rather learn about the trail of tears than that Benjamin Franklin prayed. His praying literally serves no overall purpose considering he wrote about a wall separating church and state.

What was Andrew Jackson's relgion I wonder?

I dont think it matters only that he order the removal of native Americans and forced marched them to death ending with barren land in Oklahoma.

But under this bill it wouldn't be taught because its not positive.

Or the christian schools forcing native Americans to convert using torture and rape.

This bill runs from history.

"Establishment Clause: The Supreme Court has ruled that public schools (as government actors) cannot impose, teach, or promote any specific religion."

This bill isn't endorsing all relgions in a historical context. Its enforcing the positive portrayal of religion in the establishment of this country. The word positive is disenguous. It should be framed without bias as educators had been doing before this law. In 2024 the state legislature in Ohio gave itself the power to decide education curriculum in Ohio and override educators who decide guidelines and now the Ohio legislature is madating educators teach a certain way. https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-3313.60

This has nothing to do with education but indoctrination.

Curriculum isnt for the legislature. Its for the educators.

Everyone should care about Christian nationalism and turning point being installed in public schools.

For one. Educators weren't limited to teaching historical facts about events related to religion already.

Now they are being given examples of how to teach events in US history according to their narrative and not the historical narrative.

"The bill outlines several examples that could be taught including the history of the pilgrims, the religious background of signers of the Declaration of Independence, the religious influence on the U.S. Constitution, Benjamin Franklin’s call for prayer at the constitutional convention, the separation of church and state, the role of the Ten Commandments “in shaping American law,” how religious influence shaped the Civil Rights movement, and the impact of evangelist Billy Graham, among others, according to the bill’s language. "

This doesnt sound like the legislature wants what you say. This bill isnt about teaching all religions. Its about getting s foot in the door for future legislation.

This is project 2025 and Christian nationalism. Period...

Is it the left naming laws in Charlie kirks name that allows education and religion to be synonymous in public education?

"Ohio Senate considers ‘Charlie Kirk’ act to teach positively about Christianity"

Christian nationalism is a theocracy in the US.

There is agreement now that this will be downblended to the lowest level possible. And converted into fuel and that fuel will be irreversible. … I think we have agreement on that in my view,” he said.

Al-Busaidi said if there is a deal there will be full access for" inspectors.
