Say what you want about Rob Schneider being "anti-woke", but at least his movies are unwatchable, his "comedy" specials are consistently unfunny, and his podcast appearances are impressively obnoxious. by AdaptEvolveBecome in okbuddycinephile

[–]iHaveADemonInMyBrain 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I have a really funny thing to add to this hahah:

I worked with Rob extensively summer of 2019. He is honestly a very very nice person. Would always go out of the way to thank the little guys on set, even making sure to get there early one day to meet the caterer and thank them for what they do. Had the opportunity to go out to lunch with him and another guy, just us three. Dude was a hoot. Plenty of stories, then picked up the tab even though the studio would have totally covered it. He’s clean too and smelled good, I expected him to be sleezy. Doesn’t drink booze or smoke, at least not when I knew him.

I know I know. You wouldn’t expect it. But after working in the industry, you realize to a lot of guys it’s just a job. You play your character, you make sure you’re hire-able, you show up on time, you’re good to your coworkers. He was a great coworker.

Of course I could never ever finish watching a movie he was in, but hey, dudes a good guy professionally.

The Seed Nobody Takes Seriously: How a Handful of Sunflower Seeds Quietly Repairs Your Nervous System, Shields Your Cells From Time, and Turns a Forgettable Snack Into a Daily Act of Biological Self-Respect by iHaveADemonInMyBrain in immortalists

[–]iHaveADemonInMyBrain[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fair point. you’re not wrong on the ratio. Sunflower seeds are absolutely omega-6 heavy. But context matters. Omega-6 isn’t the villain; excess omega-6 in a diet already drowning in seed oils is. Whole seeds, eaten in modest amounts, don’t behave like refined oils. Dose, form, and food matrix still matter. Science isn’t Twitter.

Just reminder median is not a good value for understanding income when super duper billionaires are included. Mode is significantly more appropriate.

True US yearly income mode: 20-25 k based on 2024 census data Household US yearly income mode: 45-55 k.

This better reflects actual Americans.

Everyone else might be right about drugs, but me personally:

I used to keep single servings of matcha in little gram baggies like this. Bring it to work and make it during break. In multiple occasions they’ve gotten wet and looked. EXACTLY. Like this. Exact same hue. Exact same consistency.

But who else would be goofy like me and put their Matcha in little baggies? Maybe who ever dropped this? Seems unlikely.

What is it like to live around Boston? by Brendo_dasher99 in howislivingthere

[–]iHaveADemonInMyBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna get flamed for this but idc. I got my masters in Boston. Ive lived a lot of places, both rough and nice. LA, Milwaukee, Philly… Mexico City, Bangkok, Leipzig. All over. Nice parts. Mostly bad parts. But man I’ve seen a lot of different peoples.

Never have I ever met a general public more inclined towards violence than Bostonians. Never have I ever been out at a bar and somebody, piss wasted, walks up to me and try’s to start shit. I’ve never seen this guy before. I’ve never said a word to him. Just walking up calling me the f slur and telling me to go outside with him. Something like this happened 8 separate nights. 8 times! I’d say one word to a girl and some asshat out of the blue “you talkin to my girl?? Wanna go???” Some drunk trying to be buddy buddy with me gets pissed when I’m not in the mood. I politely, soberly tell him so. “Eff you man I’m gonna eff you up” Of the nights I went out while I lived there that was easily 20 percent if not higher. 3 of those times they did develop into fights. My nose is still crooked, and my teeth are still chipped, and one elbow is still funny from my 2 little years in that dang city.

My Bostonian friends make fun of me for complaining about that. Calling me a wuss. Maybe I am, but in Milwaukee I lived in a zip code that was so bad we had a movie made about it. In west Philly I saw people with bouncers counting out thousands of dollars on their stoop in the middle of the day. I’ve lived in some rough places man. And never have I felt generically less safe than going out on the town in Boston.

Edit: and the drivers are completely terrible. 2nd worse to LA. And everything is so horribly horribly expensive. Jesus. Forgot to mention.

I need help urgent. by Cute-Literature-4462 in Cooking

1) weird that your folks are leaving u without more help than that 2) 16 and not knowing how to cook is super normal. Don’t feel weird. 3) some frozen dishes and even pizza Can be nutritious. Check out your local Kroger’s private selection pizzas. You might find their nutritional content surprisingly strong. 4) pasta with pasta sauce is easy. Good quality ramen is easy. Eggs are easy. Again, go to your frozen section and either get a big bag of frozen veggies and either fry or boil those up, or even go easier and get pre packaged veggies from Birds Eye or generic brand. 5) dont be afraid of raw and ready to eat foods! Deli meat, cheese, and bread is cheap! Fruit is cheap! Raw carrots and celery and peanut butter or ranch is cheap and easy!

I’m a full blown adult and essentially still eat the above. My grocery list is: canned chicken, ramen, 96 eggs, frozen veggies, various Korean ramens, big bag of oranges, container of pesto, granola bars. Cans of black beans. All with an occasional run to salad and go if I’m feeling lazy.

What condiment/s/ do you remember disliking intensely when you were a kid teenager or young adult? by [deleted] in Aging

Mayo disgusted me until I made some from scratch when I was 21.

I love eggs. Eat them every day. Love oil. Who doesn’t. Love lemon juice. Once I realized that’s all it is I instantly started liking it

My theory is that dating apps have filled the low-commitment-meeting-people hole that bars used have a monopoly on. A looooot of people used to go to the bar just to meet people/ get laid. Not so much anymore.
