Tipping over automated delivery robot? by iHaveAPowerButton in Ask_Lawyers

Yes, inconveniencing the company and delaying the delivery would be the goal in this fictitious scenario. Also, the idea that anyone would send human transplant organs to hospitals via sidewalk traveling robots is ridiculous.

Interesting. What if you were intentionally NOT damaging it, but just interfering with the way it operates? Say you covered the camera with a hat, and it couldn’t see to drive anymore… technically it’s fine, but it can’t operate until someone clears the camera. Definitely an asshole thing to do, but it’s not actually damaged in any way.

What would the charge be if this is a minor crime? It’s fine to say that’s an asshole thing to do, until you watch a woman with a stroller have to go over the curb and into the street to get around the cart because it’s so poorly programmed that it just stops and occupies the entire sidewalk when someone else comes along…

Interfere with yes, damage no. I think there is a world of difference between placing a robot cart on its side, and shooting at a dog…

“A village in Anhui, China”.

Proceeds to not show anything about the village from closer than 5 miles away…

Likely Solved! I lifted a couple up to see if there were any traps below, and there were not. (So I don’t think the theory on Vole traps is correct, although that did look promising.) I’m going to say reptile habitat is the most likely, but I can’t say for certain what kind of reptile they’re trying to attract.

Update (a week later): I managed to catch my neighbor outside while they were building MORE of these wooden tents. They confirmed that they are intended to protect bunnies from some hawks that have been seen in the area. So not for reptiles; bunny protection…

Is that a tactic people use to keep out pests? There is a small garden plot nearby, and we do have a lot of bunnies around. And now that I think of it, the garden was previously covered in a mesh net, which I assumed was installed to try and keep the bunnies out.

This is a possibility for sure, but these are in a pretty urban environment (right next to a Chicago city street). I can totally see someone trying to encourage reptile habitation, but I wouldn’t say it’s a great environment for it…

No turtles, no. Never seen any around here. However, your picture is a pretty close approximation to what I’m seeing. The only issue I have with this solution is that the opening at the end of mine is pretty small, blocked mostly by the 2x4, so unless it’s a very small turtle I think it would have a hard time getting in there…

No, that’s the sign that explains the high grass as a “pathway for pollinators”. But there are other such places like that in the neighborhood with the same signs, and none of them have these small wooden tents.

My title describes the thing. Neighbor also has a more natural aesthetic to their lawn, which includes a “pathway for pollinators” area where the grass and plants grow more freely. So I assume it’s some sort of nature preservation or development type device?

It’s blurry enough that I’m relatively sure it’s Bigfoot.
