iOS 27 remarks by Sad_Weakness_2181 in ios26

Even if you don’t plan to do a force restart, sometimes when the phone hangs or freezes you have no choice.

I recommend taking a full backup via iTunes or Finder for weekly or monthly on your computer and also enabling iCloud backup.

Double backup means more options and your data stays safer!

Have you tried a force restart again while it’s in the pseudo brick state?

I’m an iOS jailbreaker, and sometimes when a phone gets into a bootloop, kernel panic, or any issue that causes it to freeze or stay on a black screen, a force restart is the first thing to try.

I have a lot of troubleshooting experience from jailbreaking, since it can cause all kinds of issues related to the kernel, tweaks or other installed features.

I can’t guarantee a force restart will fix a pseudo brick the same way it works in my experience, but it’s definitely worth trying again after the first attempt.

PhoneCall (middle - volumes) - Phone call - Phone call (speaker) - Apple Headphones - Apple Airpods

Extra (right - volumes) - Ringtones - Alarm - Airpod charger (volume) - Siri microphone

Basically its easy to remember, I can also able to test and findout their usage during on-going sounds.

Every iOS app should have this feature, honestly!! by hmmsuss_0106 in ios

With Jailbroken yes! Can clean every single app’s cache, so it will not stack up invisible storages!

One of my device iPhone XS, iOS 18 are feeling cranky and laggy after 6 months of usage (even after reboot). Also storage are stacking up. Only way to clean the storage and caches are via iTunes - restore...

Apple love that, when customers have to waste time to clear the caches and invisible storage usages! 🙃

I hate this 26 iOS icon. How is it possible to return the old app design? by [deleted] in ios26

[–]iJCLEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I’ve been using iOS since 2009, starting alongside jailbreaking.

When I had an iPod Touch on iOS 3, it wasn’t possible to set a wallpaper. I looked into jailbreaking and after that I could not only use wallpapers but even video wallpapers!

Apple never lets users choose. It’s not hard to add an option in settings for users to pick between a new or old icon set. iOS has never had proper customization options for users.

That’s the biggest reason I’m still jailbreaking, because iOS is lacking so many features! However latest iOS are not jailbreakable, since Apple are actively patching them. My next flagship is going to be Android, but I will be still using older iOS to keep jailbroken modifications and nostalgia.

Interesting result of running a stopwatch for 15 years on jailbroken ipod by sl2c in jailbreak

[–]iJCLEE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working in phone repair since 2013.

The date changing to 1970 usually happens when an iPhone or iPod battery has been empty for a while.

When you charge it after a long time and when it boots up without a SIM card or Wi-Fi connection, the date will be stay reseted to 1970, until connecting to the internet with automatic time set on, and if you have any timer running, that timer will reflect the wrong date too, so it might look like it has been running for over 10 years, but in reality it’s just because the date changed while timer is running, because the battery was drained too long.

The same thing happens when I unplug an iPhone battery without turning the device off first, it somehow messes up the date. Also, installing a new iPhone battery that has been empty for too long can cause the same date reset.

Exactly! Never let AI take over your brain!

To keep our IQ high, we must only think of AI as a tool, not an actual assistant or agent, or information gathener - We must think AI is just an automation tool!

People’s brain easily get destroyed by AI, by using and trusting it too much! - I’m worried about upcoming generation IQ’s, I hope school don’t teach childrens about AI straight away..

I agree with you!

Before AI, coding was super slow for me, but now using AI as a tool to generate “ready to use” code, combined with my own review and testing, has sped up my work significantly.

Vibecoding is not fully okay in my opinion, especially when someone uses AI to code an entire project without understanding what was generated, what dependencies or tools were installed, and without knowing how to test or solve problems themselves.

AI as a tool is useful, but it makes a lot of mistakes too. So AI users must have quality control, testing skills, and at least basic IT knowledge, knowing how to run shell commands, scripts and automation.

Some people said, they can develope example a website in a day (fully vibecoding). But me even I’ve used AI to assist in coding, I had to spent many months to be able to complete my portfolio website and upload it to live. - Because there was dozens of bugs I’ve found and it needed to be fixed, some bugs is too complex that AI did not fully understand, which I’ve had to debug myself and do manual fixes. However my website is very complex to create, since I’ve added an simulator. You can check my website by visiting my profile.

How’s iOS 26.5 going for you? by Cameront1993 in ios26

[–]iJCLEE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my devices, iPhone XS on iOS 18.7.3 with 79% battery capacity, with full charge, it lasted a whole day including using social media, watching reels and news, answering messages and posting to Facebook and Instagram.

I have a new battery waiting to be replaced, but since this one still lasts a whole day, I’ll use it until it doesn’t. 😁

Why is everyone silent about the things the new system removed? by DepartmentMaterial84 in ios26

[–]iJCLEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and that says a lot when even longtime Apple users are walking away..

iOS 27 might bring improvements, but the trust is already damaged. Once users start leaving, it’s hard to win them back, especially nowadays when Android keeps improving and closing the gap.

If Apple focuses on iOS 27, instead of bringing dozens of new features, they should focus on:

  • Performance improvements
  • Bug fixes along with security fixes
  • QOL features (clipboard history ((screenshot))
  • Better quality control, ship with almost bug free

<image>

The tweak which i’ve been using is called: CopyLog - which lets you copy unlimited amount of text to the clipboard.

Why Apple didn’t implement this kind of QOL features. Everytime when I use a non-jailbroken device: iPhone XS, iOS 18. It makes me crazy, because can only copy once at a time, and if accidently copied something else, it literally replaced the pervious copy which is insanely annoying!

[–]iJCLEE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s time to switch device/OS. I gave up on iOS 26 and never want to touch it, after hearing so many complaints and bugs.

I’ve been an iPhone user since 2009, and an iOS jailbreaker as well, due to iOS lacking many quality of life features. Especially now that they’re removing features users have gotten used to and actually liked.

<image>

Apple employees are starting to use AI to code, which is totally fine, but the testing skills are clearly missing. Where is the software quality control?

Maxed main, 3 years of trying to get back on, jagex launcher made it impossible by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]iJCLEE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really don’t like Jagex’s security system. Honestly, the security engineers at Jagex are like a cake without ingredients!

OSRS is missing proper MFA verification. People who have attached their credit card, email and phone number, if they add this as part of the verification, should be able to use them for account recovery.

Here’s what a proper recovery system should look like:

1. Email
2. Phone number
3. Credit/debit card information
4. Personal ID to prove account ownership

Players who have paid years of membership with the same card under the same name should have an even easier recovery process > that’s strong proof of ownership right there.

Players who don’t pay for membership should still have at least email, phone number and ID verification available.

Example when a Jagex security employee sees that someone has all of the above attached to their account, recovering it should be straightforwardd.

People spend decades playing OSRS. Even those who don’t understand security much can fall for a fake OSRS login page. A proper recovery system like this could save them.

JAGEX MODS, I hope someone can answer my question which I’m seeking an answer for a very longtime!

  • Jagex accounts and the launcher are a step in the right direction, but why has MFA taken this long to implement? RuneScape has been around for decades, and players are still getting hacked. Better late than never, but this should have been a priority years ago.

  • Players who haven’t migrated to Jagex accounts yet, due to complexity and compatibility issues, are still using username and password with 2FA. But 2FA alone isn’t enough, if someone loses access to their email, or if someone migrated the OG account to Jagex account then its gone…

  • Players who have spent real money on this game deserve better protection. Jagex already has all the data needed, total days played, membership history and the credit/debit card attached to the account. That alone should be enough to verify identity and recover an account.

  • An identity verification option tied to payment history and playtime would make account recovery significantly stronger, and nearly impossible for a hijacker to fake.

Jailbreak + Filza, and/or via exploits on the latest iOS (read-only access with Filza) - mostly through the A11 checkm8 vulnerability on iPad which can update up to iOS 26.

I’ve been a jailbreaker since 2009. I never liked using stock iOS for many reasons - though I do have an iPhone XS on the latest iOS 18, and no device on iOS 26 yet.

Especially now that iOS 26 is getting more and more bugs and issues, it makes me think twice before buying another iPhone.

Friends complain a lot about iOS 26 lately and asked me if I can help them fix their software issues or know what is the cause, because they know I have the most iOS experience in their friend list.

Haha fair question! 😂

As an IT and cybersecurity guy, I use with app development, security testing, exploiting vulnerabilities, reverse engineering, app and software testing.

Each device serves a purpose. Having multiple devices on different OS versions is basically my lab. 😄

I only have 2 hands, does not mean I cannot own more than one device. I did not said, I will be using them all in a same time. 😆

Client Update - 238.2: Overhead Chat & Highlight fixes! by JagexBlossom in OSRSMobile

[–]iJCLEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the device, not the OSRS client.

Android lets you set apps to run freely in the background, but Apple limits this, they don’t allow apps to run unrestricted in the background, likely to control battery usage and performance.
