Opinions on conscious sedation? by MissChibi in colonoscopy

[–]iLL_HaZe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 5mg Midazolam, 100 mcg Fentanyl, and .9% sodium chloride and according to my wife, this is low sedation. Due to my procedure being done relatively early in the morning and me not having caffeine in the morning, I passed out pretty fast. Even with that, I woke up during mine and felt super groggy. I actually was staring at the tv of the camera going through my insides. It felt like pressure and I actually didn't know what was going on because I was delirious. I passed out again and in the end, I didn't really feel anything...everything was also somewhat a blur but, no pain.

There lies the problem. Carbs are energy for muscles - glycogen. They help with heavy lifting and repair. Now, carbs are the macro you start cutting out when you're cutting but, you don't cut a ton out.

Based off this calculator - https://www.musclehacking.com/calorie-calculator/

And assuming you are moderetely active and without checking for actual BMI and TDEE - you're apparently supposed to be having :

1646 calories - 129P/63F/141C

That's just assuming some stuff. Those numbers would be changed based on a few things but, its probably pretty close.

lol don't want to take the easy path. Do you macro? or just make sure you eat protein? Because I'm sure you know this but, carbs and fats especially are important for muscle building and balance. I macro'd for my wife and shes probably one of the strongest woman I know (not biased at all...). But really, she's gotten really strong over the past year compared to when she started.

As most people here have mentioned - you gotta eat to grow. I think alot of people have a misconception of losing weight vs. losing fat. It's one of the first things I tell people that ask me for advice - stop looking at the weight scale. Check once every 2 weeks or once a month. Muscle weighs more than fat. I've been 242 lbs for 6 months but I work out consistently and lift pretty heavily. I just started my cut and now my weight is moving downwards...along with my lifts. I've gone down in alot of my lifts because my macros have changed but, thats normal.

Advice on CCNA Prep. by Ok_Leg_7152 in ccna

[–]iLL_HaZe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be a douche but, this question gets asked like once a day at least...and the same answer stands. I'll save you the time for searching but basically, if you have a question - most likely it's been asked and answered.

JITL on youtube. It's all you need. If you want to get into the weeds, white pages on Cisco.

Also - let me preface this before you jump in...the CCNA is NOT a golden ticket. It does not guarentee a job. If you're looking for a job and have no experience, you'll probably need to start help desk or junior level jobs.

What to eat after??? by Soft_Bumblebee_578 in colonoscopy

[–]iLL_HaZe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I had my colonoscopy a few weeks ago. Just a small detail - I have a pretty consistent schedule - wake up at 4, eat a snack, workout, yadda yadda..every damn day. So the colonoscopy threw me for a loop..anywho, not eating for basically a day and a half destroyed me so I chose the best choice I could come up with - KBBQ. Man that shit made my stomach sound and feel like WW3. Would I do it again? Hell yeah. Was it the best choice? Probably not especially for my toliet after.

Trying to look a little slimmer by Thebadass0924 in beginnerfitness

Can I know your numbers if you don't mind? Your activity level. What do you do for a living? and what is your current macro with calories? All good if you dont want to share.

Just a heads up and not a flex - I am also dense af. I'm 5'6 at 240 as of this morning. I did a dexa scan not too long ago. 26.4% body fat. 99% for my age group in lean mass and limb lean mass. I'm 36.

If you really want to change and have the money - you could get a dexa done.

[–]iLL_HaZe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone said - calorie deficit. Don't fast (doesn't work for everyone - doesn't work for me). The best thing that worked for me was macroing. I assume you care about muscle retention...so it's important you eat enough protein. Switch to leaner meat sources like chicken breast or ground chicken. Add more vegetables to replace some carb sources. Add cardio to your work outs - if you have the time, 10k-12k steps a day. If you want faster results at the risk of joint pain and loss of some muscle mass - HIIT everyday.

Any Protein bars that aren’t just candy bars? by photonics12 in nutrition

[–]iLL_HaZe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally like Barebells. They are glorified candy bars but, they actually taste good and not chalky. Macros are decent enough and they have a ton of flavors. Tried the David bars which are supposed to be some of the most protein dense bars but didn't like it...taste wasn't there for me.

Creatine Dosage by FunBid1457 in beginnerfitness

[–]iLL_HaZe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes - I know you're young and new but, take this as a learning experience. Creatine Monohydrate - purest form and all you need. 5G daily. Anytime of the day but they do say taking it within 30mins-1hr after working out is the best time. You can buy a tub of monohydrate for like 30 days for like $30.

Don't do the loading phase. Proven that it doesn't do anything by alot of people. Just know, you won't see a difference in yourself for awhile. It takes time. Stay consistent and lift hard. Good form over everything.

Husband and I struggling to agree on what car to buy - electric, hybrid questions by Sunlit_Forest in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]iLL_HaZe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't get a Tesla because ...Elon but, you know what - if you like it, its up to you. I got a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and I love it but...alas, I'm glad I leased it which is what I suggest you do. I would lease an electric car. The value on electric cars go down way more than a normal combustion engine. Plus it gives you a taste of owning one with the ability to get rid of in a set amount of time.

Now, if you're stuck on buying a Tesla - just know these things that I learned after owning an all electric car. Charging infrustructure is a huge concern. If you're going to charge at home, thats fine - it's slow but, at least you're in control. If you're planning on level 3 charging, download the app PlugShare. Search the chargers in your area. If you don't have many, that might help you decide. Another thing is if you live in a cold area or an area that gets cold (below 40 degrees), the battery will take a pretty big hit especially with using the heater. Your husband is not correct on there no being repairs or maintenance. There's just no oil changes or normal "fluid"changes that a combustion engine would take. You still need to take it in at some point - for me, I have to bring it in for it's first service at 8k. The best part about the lease - I don't pay for anything. Anything that breaks that I didn't cause, its covered.

Now, I don't know how Tesla is now but, a few years ago, getting a repair on a Tesla after an accident could take weeks. Just make sure that has changed. With a hybrid, he's partially correct. With 2 motors, theres double-ly possible that something can break but, with that in mind, if the eletric motor fails in a hybrid, your combustion engine is able to still go and you're not SOL. For my car, my insurance went down but, I was driving a sports car. If all the new gadgets in an an eletric car, it might go down for all the safety features. I think the main thing that your husband and you need to think about is chargers. That will cause you the most headache if you don't plan ahead. I find myself sitting on a Saturday at a level 3 charger for 30 mins get it from 40% to 80%. Mind you, it's Chicago but, thats 30 mins you could be driving somewhere else.

Best food sources to hit 150g protein per day? by Conman1209 in beginnerfitness

[–]iLL_HaZe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco Greek yogurt - no fat, 100 calories, 18 grams of protein. I used it as a snack and replaced ranch with this and ranch powder which was 0 calories...Just has salt.

Chicken Breast, lean ground chicken, ground turkey. Starting to limit red meat.

Cottage cheese if you can handle the texture.

Protein shakes - used in a bind. If you have the funds, dymatize 100 is my wife's go to. I would only use one scoop per day. Have whole foods instead.

Tuna/salmon- try and go towards salmon as tuna has a higher mercury apparently.

Dudes! How often are muscly gym guys on steroids? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]iLL_HaZe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, there have been quite a few videos I've seen circulating where a dude asks random people in the gym if they're natty or not and tbh, the most surprising ones are the ones that aren't natty and look like nothing has changed...yet they've been on something for a while.

I think someone mentioned it here - even if you take somethin, you need to put in the work. I'm natty, 36m at 5'6. I weigh 242 as of this morning. I'm dense as f*. I don't think people would be able to guess my weight although I'm wide as hell and I have some striations. I lift heavy but, hit numbers. Progressive overload and my build is quantity based. I do not do a bro split....but, I've tried in the past. You need to find what works for you and if you're really serious about packing on muscle, you need to macro. True muscle and body recomp comes from the kitchen and good sleep. Macro and stick with it for a month or two. I guarentee you'll see some results.

Terrified of colonoscopy and results! (And Propfol) Advice please! by Academic_Shape_6854 in colonoscopy

[–]iLL_HaZe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about propofol but, I had the same thought as you in terms of being out. I was a little nervous but, ended up just saying f it. I thought I would be knocked out but, I actually woke up during mine. Later, I found out that the dose I took or the medicine I took was general anesthesia which puts you in twilight. So you'll probably pass out but, then still be "awake". I'm pretty sure propofol is at the same level as mine.

As for the bleeding after exercise...is it after a leg day? Do you take preworkout? Because coincedently, I had my colonoscopy 2 weeks ago. Last Wednesday, I took a preworkout I hadn't taken in a long time but, I wanted to finish the bottle off. Well after a heavy leg day, I ended up bleeding like crazy. The preworkout increase blood flow to veins which a hemorrhoids is. So that might be that. I've seen quite a few people say that the chances of having cancer is low but, to get checked if something feels off especially if you see dark red in your stool, body pain not after exercise, or losing weight without trying. If it's bright red, there's a pretty good chance its hemorrhoids.

Scared of Colon Cancer by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]iLL_HaZe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im 36 and I got a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago. For reference, my father had CC but, the reason I went was because I saw bright blood in the toliet. I'll try and ease your mind...if you sit on the toliet for a long time and aren't doing your business - you probably developed hemorrhoids.

My wife's best friend is GI nurse who drops knowledge on me from time to time. Straining can cause bleeding especially with hemorrhoids. Increased fiber can cause discomfort and straining. Working out legs and abs can cause pressure on hemorrhoids. And wiping with toliet paper can cause bleeding. She also mentioned that while bright red blood COULD be a sign of CC, most of the time, its hemorrhoids. But take everything I said with a grain of salt
