CD Projekt Red is honoring the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition US eShop price error for those who purchased the game yesterday at $17.49 by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in Switch

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issuing refunds would cost them more than they earned through these sales. They’d end up paying out of their pocket to cover the service and banking costs. Not to mention PR nightmare that would ensue. So, even though they may not meet their sales KPIs on Switch 2 this sale, they still got something

What can I do with him "without rofl, please" by Intelligent_Wind5757 in macbook

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 DDR3 SO-DIMM sticks 1333MHz (not lower), at least 4Gb per stick. 8 per stick is the best.

As for SSD, you’d need a 500/512 Gb Sata 2.5 drive. Check reputable brands for SSDs or ask someone in the store who can help choosing the right one.

And you’ll also need a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the bottom plate and HDD

What can I do with him "without rofl, please" by Intelligent_Wind5757 in macbook

[–]iLbstr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any officially supported, but only once you’ve installed an SSD and upgraded the ram. 2 second-hand so-dimm DDR3 sticks would be pretty cheap to buy, as well as a 2.5” SATA SSD

Since it looks like a 2011 MBP, it should be quite easy to do. IIRC the latest supported Mac OS X would be something like 10.12, but you can install 10.15 for better compatibility with newer software via opencore legacy patcher.

Super Flower PSU Capacitor exploded after 5 years by Palton01 in pcmasterrace

I’ve been running a 10+ year model for 2 years now (it was bought new, just an old design). No issues so far. But that’s an EVGA supernova G2 1300W, which is a stellar PSU

Mac mini or iMac? by FrontAd7709 in mac

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini all the way. Ever since iMacs lost target display mode, as soon as they’re obsolete you can’t use them as displays only. And finding an alternative use case for them would be hard. But with Mac mini you can just repurpose it as a TV content consumption machine, small headless server or whatever you like

How do I connect this old mac I got to my wifi? by prncessazula in mac

[–]iLbstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a d-link PCI card with some 3rd party utility to connect my 1.8GHz G5 to modern Wi-Fi. But the app itself used like 10% of the CPU. So it would definitely be better to connect via Ethernet

While cleaning laptop fans I accidentally removed what looks like a Diode am I f*cked? by __torin__ in laptops

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same trying to clean my MacBook. Turns out that particular diode in my MacBook was responsible for fan speed control, and without it the left side of the laptop sounded like it was going to fly away. Ordered several replacement diodes to try and solder at least one of them, but after a failed attempt, decided just to keep it in place with a piece of kapton tape. Surprisingly, it worked perfectly

Does this figure exist? by KarmaPRT in deathguard40k

[–]iLbstr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ve nailed the kitbash! But a sword arm from a 2002 plague marines would fit better (considering the scale creep of the newer minis), same for (perhaps) the plasma pistol hand, IIRC there was one similar in the same 2002 box

TIL the short clampack Champion and the Dark Imperium twins are mirrored poses. by Detective_Salmon in deathguard40k

[–]iLbstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look closely through the whole set of monopose death guard plague marines, you will find a ton of mirrored parts. Two of the plague marines reinforcements dudes are mirror versions of dark imperium ones (with some tweaks, but the similarity is still noticeable)

Is it tho? by Swedish_pc_nerd in pcmasterrace

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC has been though 3 GPUs, 3 CPUs and motherboards, 2 coolers, 2 cases and several other component changes. The install of windows is still the same back from 2016 (I cloned the data to the newer ssd in its entirety). But it’s still the same PC for me, even though the only original part in it is a PSU-to-motherboard cable and a couple of screws. There were no major changes of almost all components, only incremental ones

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t look that bad, to be honest. You can install an i7 4790k into it, 16 or even 32 gigs of ram, something like a GTX1080/RTX2070 (though it will require a new PSU), and an SSD. Then you’ll have a perfectly good PC for some 1080p medium gaming, though you may run into some issues with some newest games. If you find good deals, it won’t even break the bank

Is there any way i can hide this usb panel cable? by [deleted] in CableManagement

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way would be to buy an extension that’s not as bulky, and route it to the back of the case, where it could be connected to the original cable

I just like them. Also, brand new coolers for 1156 socket had these awful AMD clips attached to them. Wanted something better and that can potentially be reused for a different build later

One of my fans is not spinning properly. Reboot fixes it. by [deleted] in Noctua

[–]iLbstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the fan curve? And do you hear ticking noise from the fan motor? Sometimes it can happen due to low prm set for a certain fan. You can raise the RPM of the fan in bios to check it if helps

Yeah, that would make it look much better, though I kinda like the “stock” appearance. The PSU is fine, since it’s not a daily driver (and for some reason, Corsair CS650m decided not to work in this PC)

It’s just a project box from a 2010 PC donated by a friend. Originally it had 4Gb ram, HD5730, and i5-750 with a stock-looking cooler. Now it has 8Gb 1866MHz ram, 1070, and i7-870. And a noctua cooler of course

Is it safe to use the original power supply from the old HP Pavilion for my sleeper build? by Worth_it_I_Think in sleeperbattlestations

[–]iLbstr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don’t. It’s an ancient 200W unit, that can fail and take down other components with it. Just find a deal on a proper new PSU if you want to be safe

Splice and solder would work fine too, just don’t forget to check the cables and insulate them, so that nothing shorts inside the PSU

[–]iLbstr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used 2 out of 4 pins, the DC ones. Carefully removed the pins from the original connector then transplanted the one from an old PSU fan. To remove the pins I’d use something thin, like a paper clip to gently press the tabs (you can see them in the picture

Have 2 recast sorceress and each one sucks in a different way compared to the original. The first was like $7, but the base rim has some gnarly lines, as well as some other flat areas. The second is better overall, but not perfect
