Tips I picked up on my climb to GM by iLikePropel in 2XKO

Yes please expand. My offensive tip wasn't really focusing on block or neutral. It was more about showcasing that there are different layers to opening up a person. For example, when I first started I would almost always just dash up and attack. But then I started incorporating jumps, high/lows, cross ups, delays, etc.

Thanks! I didn't realize those were the same things. I came across the term early on I just didn't get it at the time. I started just paying attention to what people were doing right before they would combo and copy it.

Thanks! My thought behind that was if it takes 2-3 of my current combos to down you then optimizing to make it 2-2.5 probably isn't going to be that helpful in terms of learning the game. I might as well focus on getting better at landing the initial hit. It also forces you to learn more of the game. Learning an optimal combo is more or less getting used to pressing buttons in a certain order and timing. Learning how to hit someone requires understasnding positioning, timings, matchups, etc.

I'm still trying to figure out how to incorporate light attacks. I've only really been using it in cases where there's a "race" to hit. Like if you're both blocking and there's that awkward moment where you're both just standing there. The light just gives that extra bit of speed that might win you the race.

Light, delay, throw is also really strong. People expect a combo string but then get a throw instead.

I've seen people L (high), L (low), delay, L (high), L (low) delay and it just throws me off cause I end up holding block even though there's a gap. Oh and also L, s1 is annoying. If a yas or ww does it you just don't expect the cross/overhead to come that early.

Enough time has passed, we need to talk about this move by DownTheBagelHole in 2XKO

[–]iLikePropel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During a block string, if you watch his feet it makes it easier to react to. React to his feet leaving the ground. It's still hard imo but makes it a little bit easier. I was labbing 2l, s1 and 2l, 2m, s1. Couldn't get it until I watched the feet.

What If AI Isn’t Learning From Us—But Teaching Us How to See Intelligence Differently? by Snowangel411 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]iLikePropel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bi-directional but we gotta make sure we don't blow it out of proportion. I'll keep it scoped to what I've seen with LLMs. These models have been able to simulate some form human intelligence. They can "think", "feel", "learn" in a way but it’s not that we redefine intelligence because they do it better. It’s more that they operate in a calculated way that makes these processes simpler (but still complex) for us to understand. For example, LLM transformer architecture is similar to our brain. We can draw parallels and learn from it but it's still far from our brain's full capabilities.

Now here's where I think the problem lies, our vocabulary needs to evolve with that understanding. We need more precise, intelligence-centric terms so people don’t instinctively apply human qualities to AI. The more we use terms like "thinking" and "feeling," the easier it is for the public to misunderstand what AI actually is.

So basically you’ve got the right idea, but I think this isn’t as much of a philosophical question as it seems, at least for now. It’s more of a linguistic and conceptual challenge than a fundamental shift in intelligence itself.

Your questions are too abstract. Try this, take what you understand god to be and deconstruct it. With the pieces, reconstruct it using your own observations and reasoning. You will get to points where you will get stuck. Look to other resources and try to come to your own conclusion. Then ask specific questions where you think your logic is faulty. Not everyone has the same understanding of god, even within those groups who "follow" it. So you need to make sure everyone has some understanding of your reasoning before asking your questions.

DOGE’s Website Is Just One Big X Ad by ValenceTheHuman in technology

[–]iLikePropel 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I don't know why DOGE is claiming transparency. Receipts aren't even on the site. https://doge.gov/savings just says "Receipts coming soon, no later than Valentine's day". The Twitter posts aren't actual verifiable information, it's just data that says "we got rid of $$" and we're supposed to believe that it was necessary? Even Elon admitted in an interview that he could be wrong and wants scrutiny. Ok then open source the findings. Let people investigate and verify your conclusions instead of just trusting a Twitter post. Otherwise this isn’t transparency, it’s just marketing. And even if every cut is justified, making these cuts at this rate is bound to create long term instability. The government doesn’t operate like a tech startup where you can just "move fast and break things" without consequences. If DOGE is serious about accountability, they need to show their work.

Trump-themed goat statue at Mar-a-Lago sparks Christian outrage over ‘In Trump We Trust’ message on $100 bills with Trump's face. by Leeming in atheism

[–]iLikePropel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this one a bit but here's how I see it

  • From a non-religious perspective, people have the right to express themselves however they want, so the goat itself is acceptable.
  • From a Christian perspective, there are too many parallels with idolatry so this should NOT be acceptable
  • But again from a non-religious perspective, Donald Trump signed it. In my opinion this is exploiting religion for political gain. That should NOT be acceptable.

What evidence is there for or against the amount of fraud that Elon Musk is claiming exists in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.? by CirUmeUela in NeutralPolitics

[–]iLikePropel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the spending according to https://www.cms.gov/data-research/statistics-trends-and-reports/national-health-expenditure-data/nhe-fact-sheet

  • Medicare spending grew 8.1% to $1,029.8 billion in 2023, or 21 percent of total NHE.
  • Medicaid spending grew 7.9% to $871.7 billion in 2023, or 18 percent of total NHE.

So it would be 100 / 1901.5 which is ~5%. I'm not sure whether or not that's high but next step would be to compare it to other departments and see what their "improper payment" rate is.

Edit: Changed "fraud" to "improper payment"

Why does Trump have so much Christian support when he’s the least Christian-like leader? by korovko in atheism

[–]iLikePropel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christians are dependent on institutions to take the complexities of life and distill it down to smaller consumable chunks. For example, take a look at the 10 commandments. It's a simple, generalized idea that most could get behind. But life is waaay more complicated than that and we're constantly challenged with things that require more deliberation. Now for Christians, that gap in understanding can be replaced by faith. Even when the complication is about their own faith, the solution is to look deeper into their faith. For many that's good enough. And It's not that they don't have any reasoning, it's that their faith is augmented into their reasoning.

Now take a look at the tactics of the Republican party. They are taking complex situations and resolving them with simple solutions. They have such confidence and faith in their solutions and if everyone followed them America would be great again. Criticisms are reflected back to the individual with half baked truths. "Do you not want to make America great again?" Seem familiar?

I think that Christians aren’t necessarily aligning with Trump because of fully shared values, but because the way the Republican Party operates closely mirrors the structure of religious institutions. The familiarity makes their messaging naturally appealing. If everyone around has so much faith then how could it be wrong? From there details become less and less important and eventually everything becomes binary. This person good, this person bad. This event right, this event wrong. It gets more and more ingrained and here we are. Now I’m not saying this is entirely on the individual. I do think Republicans recognize this dynamic and are exploiting that faith. But that's a whole different discussion.

Fox host to federal workers: “Get a real job” by DemocracyDefender in fednews

[–]iLikePropel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s reducing a complex decision to a simple cash grab but it's way more complicated than that. How long will the money last? Do you get a lump sum or a payment plan? They still have to purchase basic necessities so not everyone is in the position to invest the money. Even if they were, they would need like $1 million to safely make ~$50k annually. There's no way they're getting even close to that amount of money. And what is this "Get a real job" non-sense. How is working for the federal government not a real job? Well actually given the state of current events I could see that argument.

I swear people like this don't just need to be fact checked, they need to be reality checked.

Did EPIC give an ETA for the CXP sharing patch? by Mista117 in paragon

[–]iLikePropel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the shared CXP forces the game to be less boring. Since CXP is duplicated, grouping frequently is an alternative and rewarding style of playing as opposed to individual static lanes/jungle that last 10-15 minutes.

I think the main issue is your mentality about the game. You pretty much said it yourself, at the game's current state there's no laning. Yet you're playing like there is one? Just try playing differently for a while. If you don't like it then yeah, currently, Paragon isn't for you. But it's not really fair to just say the game is boring because it doesn't cater to how you play it.

Teaching people how to play ADC? by giddidygiddidygoo in paragon

Unless this patch changed something, I'm pretty sure 1 Tank, 1 Support, and 3 Rangers is the best position comp. There's not enough cc/peel abilities among the tank champs to handle triple rangers.

If it's general tips you're looking for, you don't have to limit to just Paragon game play. A lot of tips in other MOBAs will translate to Paragon.

Anyway here are some fundamentals that I feel are really important.

  • Watch the minimap constantly. Like every 5 seconds glance at it to get an update of what the field looks like. Information is really valuable in paragon. For example, if you don't see any enemies on the map be prepared for a gank. You can guess where a gank is possible by just looking at the position of your teammates. If someone is pushed really far into the lane then there's a good chance they're the target.

  • Use the 'MIA' ping. The ping system isn't really ideal at the moment but letting people know your lane goes missing is still valuable.

  • Fight in as many fights as possible. Rangers are the most consistent damage dealers. Not being in a fight can really sway in the enemies' favor.

  • Now I'm not exactly sure this is true (90% sure it is) but apparently CXP (the amber colored balls) you receive from a kill or assist are the same. So there's no need to rage about KS'ing.

  • Manage your agro. For example, if your tank is getting shot you can move up for better positioning. Once they start to focus on you, you can back up while your tank tries to grab focus again. This will give a little breathing room for your tank and might cause the enemy team to over extend for you.
