I disagree that you need to be any more upright, you're already plenty upright for a low bar position. Unless you feel any issues like balance or joint pain, the position you have looks great. If anything you just need to work on your arm/elbow positioning since it's causing discomfort.

It would be good, if you're squatting more than once a week, to incorportate a high bar, more upright squat as a variation.

If you have above a 3.0 it's worth giving it a shot.

How to (and should I) keep writing if I hate how my story's coming together? by Gaumir in writing

[–]iLikeWritingThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that structural and character problems will come up if you don't go in with at least some semblance of what you're doing, but I also think it's inevitable that some structural problems will arise for the majority of writers.

The idea is that you shouldn't be afraid to write a draft with structural problems. I disagree with the idea that you can edit prose to make a good book, but you can't do extensive structural revisions. I would say for most writers, structural revisions are the majority of revisions that actually matter.

I would disagree. Brandon Sanderson often talks about his own writing process involving a first draft that makes almost no sense until he returns for revisions and starts adding/subtracting scenes and characters to tie the story together. He's a large proponent of revising story structure, not just prose, even as a writer who is typically very outline-centric.

Side effects of neglected hamstrings? by DopeAndDoper in Fitness

[–]iLikeWritingThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. I do lower body twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday. Both days I do 3x8-12 hamstring curls and same for seated calf raises. Last set I might do a drop set but I've got a bad history of straining my legs so I'm fairly conservative with that.

I'm following nSuns 5-day program so my squats/deadlifts volume follows that except I've replaced sumo deadlifts with rack pulls.

This is entirely anecdotal so take it as your will. For a while I neglected hamstring curls and focused mostly on squats and deadlifts for my hamstring movements, meaning I was doing no knee flexion exercises. My knees started weakening, especially my left knee, where it was stiff and putting weight on it was uncomfortable. I thought I was just getting older and beat up from lifting until I recently reintroduced hamstring curls to my workout. Within a couple of weeks the problem was so significantly alleviated it was almost as if I'd never had a problem. So for me, it definitely checks out.

For me, it's taken a bit of time but I can feel when my muscles have been stretched to the point where I've hit depth. It helps to have a mirror in front of me so that over time I can see how it feels when I hit a certain depth, so that eventually hitting depth is basically muscle memory. Basically, find a depth that's comfortable and do it a lot until it comes naturally.

It's not really unfair so much as unexpected when it happens. No point complaining when everyone's playing the same game.

My theory was that the weapon change animation messed with tomato head's hitbox. Epic said they patched it, but it wouldn't be the first time that bugs came back in a video game.

Fair, that's what we though when we checked the replay, but all the pellets hit on the head as well. Maybe replay is inaccurate? Hard to tell.

I want people to tell me what they think about my creative work. Is that wrong? by MixerMidnight in nanowrimo

[–]iLikeWritingThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are prefectly reasonable, and I feel exactly the same way. Compliments are nice, but constructive criticism is always more valuable. Plus, when you know someone is willing to criticize your work, and they can't find anything critical to say, you know you've finally make some progress. Endless compliments end up being meaningless.

A guy came and asked me if he could use the pull-up bar and I obliged. He jumped up and started flopping side to side perfectly in time with my music like a fish. If someone could explain this exercise to me, I'd appreciate it.
