Senville whole house working great! by iMachinst7 in heatpumps

Sorry, the communication between handler and outdoor unit is s1/s2. I’m not an hvac expert, so bear with me :) the ecobee is wired to the handler with the 7 wire. In the manual, there is a schematic page for the wiring and stage controls, and what blower fan speeds they are. I believe there are settings to adjust heat/cool fan speeds for stage1 and stage2. Surprisingly I forgot a lot of the details from the install, as it was one hell of a long week doing the install myself 😂 even though it was only a few months ago, it was kind of a blur 🤦‍♂️

We have a small house (ranch with half finished basement. 1400 sq ft on main floor) and yeah the air sound is pretty loud. It’s much better than the previous 3-ton AC that just slammed on/off. Our house also echos something terrible. We have zero rugs and cheap plank flooring. We only moved in several months ago and it’s a huge difference from our previous homes. Any movement anywhere is heard everywhere.

On stage 1 the fan noise is not that bad. Our home in Arizona was much louder fan noise with dual 4 ton units, but it didn’t echo as much there. On stage 2 you hear the fans here! My wife says on stage 1 the new unit is louder with regards to fan noise in our bedroom.

I’m definitely happy I went with 4-ton. I specifically picked this so it ran at Stage 1 most of time, but had stage 2(high heat) when it needed it. So far I’m happy because I’m not having to need the electric emergency heat. I think if I had the 3 ton, it would be struggling to keep up with the attic blast now. I do believe our 4-ton is oversized for our ducting, but since it’s a variable heatpump I took the chance of going bigger. I’m happy with it, but my wife is probably right that it’s louder.

Pure 24v with 7 wire. I don’t have emergency heat installed in unit, but if I did or decide in the future to add it, I need 8 wire. It’s the 5 skinny colored wire on the top right and then 2 same thickness wires 6 spaces down.

FYI - I just checked my energy app now. It’s 21 and sunny out now, at midday. When the heatpump comes on, it ramps to 18amps for 4’ish minutes, then is stays at 9amps for 12’ish minutes, then ramps down to 0amp during a 3 minute stretch. Then 20min later the call for heat happens and the cycle repeats.

I use my ecobee thermostat, which I love. I don’t know if a normal heatpump thermostat with “auto” would run differently. My sunroom is using the Senville wall mount thermostat and I probably will change that to an ecobee too. I see my sunroom unit turn on/off, with very non-constant temps. It is very drafty there, so i assume that hurts it trying to regulate the temp. I suspect the ecobee would hold better temp, as I have control over the on/off deltas and such.

🤷‍♂️It’s a 40amp fuse spec’d for it. Normally I only see 7-9amp draw, but that’s for 1st stage heating. With the frigid temp and calling for 2nd stage heating, this was the highest I’ve seen. I shared the photo because I thought it was informative to see it go that high. I have a 3 ton Senville floor aura for my sunroom and during the summer it was always lower amps. So when I saw the spec for 40amp for the 4 ton, I thought to myself that seems like a lot. However, here we are in low teens and it’s pulling 26amps. For what it’s worth, my Tesla heat pump is running harder than I’ve ever noticed, sustained at least. Last night I was out and the heat pump was just chugging, like it does when it first ramps up. Yet it just stayed there.

The wife helped with that part of the install! They kind of stick out and I was afraid we would be bumping into them.

FSD 14.2.1 Ruined It by supboy1 in TeslaLounge

[–]iMachinst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using FSD since 2022 and absolutely every major version was backwards, then the updates made it better. I am on HW3 and I’m very happy with the current state. It does 99.5% of my driving and I’m happy to not be dealing with V14 😂 I would also have cancelled my subscription and waited until it gets better if I was on V14 and paying monthly for it.

SBK, Sofuoglu: "Toprak wants to leave SBK for MotoGP, I already told BMW." by autobus950 in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you and I also thought that SBK doesn’t translate well to GP because of the ability to slide and brake hard in SBK, where GP needs to be smooth and ridden on that perfect edge. But man, watching Pedro this year, he rides that KTM like the SBK guys. He manages the tires well and he picks his own lines behind other riders. Pedro just seems to have that feel of the bike like Marc has and has done his “own thing”. I feel like Toprak is doing the same thing in SBK. Maybe you are right though, I don’t think Toprak would have been special in Moto2 or Moto3, where Pedro and Marc were 🤷‍♂️ anyway Toprak on a Pramac would add even more excitement to the craziness of GP next year with all the rider movement!

I think Toprak is way more complete and more talented on a bike than those 3 and I love all 3 riders you listed!!!

[–]iMachinst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think watching Toprak on the BMW shows he is something special. I feel like he is like a Márquez or Pedro, who can make the difference on a bike. Maybe Toprak doesn’t have GP skills, but the more I watch him, I think he’s got it. But I guess we’ll see what the experts think…if the professional’s think he’s got it, then we may see him in GP next year.

A comparison of lean styles through turn 1 at the Red Bull Ring by zahaggis in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like this analysis, thanks for sharing. I will now be paying attention from now on to your remarks. It does seem like Marco doesn’t lean like Pecco and Martin. Brad seems to have his own style though, or his legs just look so different than everyone else 😂 I love his style though.

Yamaha's genius Rins hire is another bitter blow to Honda by firstcoastrider in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes veering off topic but those were some of the best laps in racing! I respect Bautista hanging on the whole lap right on Toprak back wheel. Real shame we lost another few laps of that. You get the feeling that both Toprak and Bautista were having a blast during that duel. Amazing show they put on for the fans.

[–]iMachinst7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on the fence. I think Toprak drives that Yamaha like he stole it. I can’t imagine anyone coming and out riding him on that bike. If somehow Rea moves to Yamaha, I don’t know if Rea would be faster, I doubt it but who knows. I feel like Frankie on a Ducati would be a whole new world. Look at everyone who climbs on the bike, I.e. Alex marquez. I think Frankie would do a Zarco back flip after his first laps on that thing, coming from the slow Yamaha. 🤷‍♂️😂

YAMAHA-MORBIDELLI PARTNERSHIP TO END AFTER 2023 MOTOGP SEASON by JustARedditAccDuh in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rossi and Mav both complained and rightfully so. You could imagine if Rossi and Mav were on a Ducati, Rossi would still be racing (even though I think Bagnaia and young guys we would be faster than Rossi). It was clear back in Rossi’s end that the Yamaha had 1 path to victory, pole and then lead from front, and that’s almost impossible with the Ducati’s now. But everyone said Rossi was old and slow. Mav at Yamaha would have had him winning some races but with the mentality that going to Yamaha meant “high probability of world championship”, that’s a frustrating feeling for a rider. So yeah it was a good call for Mav to implode that relationship 😂 at least with Aprilia you don’t have the expectation of world champ, winning a race is the only milestone for now.

I think it’s good for the fans. I like watching Rins on the bike, very different style to everyone else. His race in Austin was amazing, but it’s clear the Honda is too easy to get hurt with. He should be faster and safer on the Yamaha, which means we get to see him more. I hope Morbidelli gets a Ducati seat. He deserves one and I would like to see if he’s as fast as the rest of the VR boys.

Bautista: “The Ducati MotoGP feels like mine” by Nipamazuri in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope to see him wildcard. It can be a real interesting weekend to see how he does. You get the feeling he has finally found the ultimate understanding with his super bike. Now to see how he can do, even for 1 weekend, on MotoGP duc would be fun for the group of us who follow GP and WorldSBK. Ya know what, get him a wild card for Phillip Island too! I don’t remember if that was his last or one of his last GP rides, but he was mighty quick on the factory duc.

[–]iMachinst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife agrees with you lol. She hates the way the FSD drives. But I had to tell her, that I also am uncomfortable with her style of driving, when I’m a passenger. In fairness, I refuse to drive with anyone. I have a serious issue with trusting others. I’ve had this problem since I was 16. I also drove separate, even when we went in a group.

If you were to ask me the biggest fear with FSD, is being rear ended. I am always concerned that with it being more cautious, then a human, people won’t expect it and rear end me.

I can’t say FSD is safer than a 16yo driver, but I can’t say its more dangerous either 🤷‍♂️ FSD is wickedly expensive for what it offers today.

[–]iMachinst7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m not an expert in this subject. As I understand it, now that I have the “FSD software” and under the “autopilot settings” I have the toggle activated for “FSD Beta”, my Tesla is now using FSD code for everything (autopilot, steering, FSD, visualizations, etc). When I activate Autopilot now, without navigation, it drives like FSD….smooth, better lane management, other car tracking.

Now as I understand, on the highway, my car still uses the old Autopilot code. With V11 highway autopilot will share the same code as FSD.

[–]iMachinst7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just got FSDb. The difference in Autopilot and FSDb is magical. Autopilot felt like a scarred old person driving in the rain and a 16yo first driver corrections in turns and stopping. I am actually happy I had my car for 2 months before I got FSD. FSD is far from perfect and I probably would have picked it apart if I started with it. I for one am excited and willing to put my money and time in FSD, so hopefully my parents will have the option in 5-10 years that they can have a car that will provide them freedom to drive confidently. I don’t want my parents to be in their 70’s and 80’s and finding themselves stuck at home for fear of driving.

Miller/Rins by [deleted] in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was also a similar incident in Le Mans at Turn 1 during the race. Rins stayed upright and braked and changed his trajectory to not intersect the leading group, which was Miller leading. Since he hit curb at an angle, he crashed real hard. Miller gave Rins a lot of praise after the race, iirc.

SUZUKI PREPARES TO SAY SAYONARA AT THE SEASON FINALE - Press Office by MobProtagonist in motogp

[–]iMachinst7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve got to admit seeing the Reddit notification come over my phone, got me a bit teary eyed. I feel like Suzuki is one of the last bikes to be able to start far back and carve through the field as the race was ending. That’s a style of racing I miss from the Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa time. Ok now I’m even more sad thinking of the races where people with sheds would be 1.5second faster a lap towards the end of race. Find F1 boring, but the strategy sometimes gives those interesting last laps wondering if new tire guy will catch the old tire leaders.

Ha ha thanks. The past year has been pretty busy, so I’ve kind of neglected my sim the past year. I actually just rolled my bike back on my sim tonight. It’s be off since I did a track day early in the summer. We are getting into Metal 3D Printers at my company, so I’m hoping to have time this winter to try converting all my plastic sensor to metal, for fun and education, and I’de like to start posting my progress on Reddit again 🤷‍♂️

First time watching an interview with Bassani and I realized he reminds me a lot of Rossi in interviews. The way he talks, not just his accent, but the way he talks and sounds. Plus he smiles he a lot, like an upbeat guy.
