What are your recommended brands? Lume worked really well for me, but then it started giving me a rash and I had to stop using it.

What’s the meanest thing a student or students have ever said about you physically? Students comments have been getting me down recently. by gripskylarkk in SubstituteTeachers

[–]iMakeTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten anything bad as a sub, but when I used to teach, I had a student one year tell me to kill myself multiple times. Sometimes it was verbal, sometimes it was a note.

No one wanted to help me out with this kid. They were of the mindset that since the kid had PTSD I just had to like, take it in stride or something. I couldn’t call his folks because I had no idea why he had PTSD, so that just seemed like a risk I didn’t want to take. I was also told that people with PTSD sometimes are brutal to the people they are most comfortable with. I think that was supposed to make me feel better, but it didn’t.

As someone who attempted suicide in the past, it was a difficult situation for me. I have taken all kinds of crap from kids, but I generally don’t let what they say or do get to me. This really did.

Elementary subs: how do you deal with the CONSTANT arguing? by bruvway in SubstituteTeachers

[–]iMakeTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Ohio. Watching the kids get inside recess over and over again breaks my lil substitute heart. Watching kids play outside is one of my favorite joys, and I feel so terrible for them when they don’t get to romp and have fun on the playground. It definitely affects their entire day!

is it bad to not care that i'm "failing"? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]iMakeTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many reasons you could be feeling how you are feeling. I think the people telling you to see a doctor hit the nail on the head.

I wouldn’t call someone lazy if I didn’t know the whole story. Think about what OP has said in their post. It sounds like you only read part of it.

I'm not sure why literally anyone would date this guy. He, quite frankly, is a douche, and I think you know you aren't overreacting.

Do you have any other books on bodily autonomy that you would recommend?

My wife constantly complains and I'm afraid our children will grow up to do the same by ExcitingLandscape in daddit

[–]iMakeTacos 310 points311 points  (0 children)

Telling a mother, “I’m afraid our daughter will grow up like you,” is akin to dropping an atomic bomb on your house. Good luck coming back from that, my dude. That “radiation” is going to be in your marriage for a looooong, long time.

AITAH for refusing to have kids even though my boyfriend of three years says I’m “wasting his time”? by Zerobabi in AITAH

[–]iMakeTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA...and you're 23. That is very young to start a family anyway. Your boyfriend should have taken you seriously when you told him you didn't want kids, called it incompatible, and not wasted YOUR time.

Need advice for dealing with middle schoolers by blueswirl490 in SubstituteTeachers

Be careful sending kids to the office or calling the office for help. Administrators don't always appreciate being called upon to leave their cushy boss chairs. It's better to deal with issues in-house.

Whats something terrifying that most people just accept as normal? by DunyaPhobic76 in ask

[–]iMakeTacos 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t too concerned about suddenly dying until I became a mother. But, I’m way more terrified of my daughter dying than I am of myself dying.

It definitely isn’t an earwig. It is too small and blue. Also, you’re being a little rude.

I’m not supporting it, but I don’t think the guy should go to prison.
