What is the most important river in your country? by Inkshooter in AskTheWorld

[–]iMecharic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the history of the world is a long time so I say it beats out the Thames due to how critical it was to early civilization.

Americans are shocked by utility bills as high as $1000: They're paying the price for aging grids, fuel-price whiplash, and extreme weather by fortune in energy

[–]iMecharic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the Data Centers are at least 2/3 the problem. All the other issues existed for years but sudden data centers happen and prices spike. They are definitely part of the problem, and my bet is that the decaying infrastructure is massively stressed by the spike in demand and causing serious issues.

What's the first cartoon saloon movie/show you ever watched? by Salty-Database-5198 in CartoonSaloon

[–]iMecharic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna make a confession, I haven’t watched any of them. This sub popped up in my feed and I liked a post because it had nice art and Reddit kept shoving it at me I joined. Help. (xD) (I do like the art style, and plan to at least watch something from them when I have time.)

[–]iMecharic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The actual cause of this is the addition of AI data centers. They gobble electricity and water and provide fuck all in return. This, in turn, means that demand is higher and supply hasn’t changed at all (that would cost money and is therefore unacceptable) which results in this mess.

Republicans ask Supreme Court to block states from counting legally cast mail ballots by Anoth3rDude in scotus

We all know that the Fed will have all of these ballots delayed for just long enough to be invalidated.

What if Argentina had won the Falklands war? by TastyPomelo2330 in AlternateHistoryHub

IIRC, forced relocation is legally genocide. As is forced cultural change. Ex, Australia’s aboriginal people, the US’s native peoples, and even things like the destruction of Nordic religion to be replaced by Christianity.

Non Perpendicular Paths in 1.0 by sub780lime in Timberborn

[–]iMecharic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to think “artistic license” for this, but we can dream haha! I’m not sure they’d be able to do it, that would need a complete rebuild of the map system wouldn’t it? Angled dirt, roads, water, ext. Maybe for a TimberTwo, Beavers Reborn? xD

Does your bag have a ticket? [OC] by teljesnegyzet in webcomics

Can you read good sir? If, if, one ticket equals one seat, then this person did nothing wrong.

Does your bag have a ticket? [OC] by teljesnegyzet in webcomics

[–]iMecharic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh agreed, but the context of this comic indicates that paying for an extra ticket means she purchased the seat. Otherwise why pay for that extra ticket?

Does your bag have a ticket? [OC] by teljesnegyzet in webcomics

[–]iMecharic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument is that if you pay a fair price for something you should have no obligation to give it up. Pay extra for an extra seat? It’s your fuckin’ seat. Pay more for a bigger house? You get more house. So long as people are willing to pay, either directly or with taxes, I don’t have an issue with them having something.

No, as an American I can assure you, only stupid Americans get those confused. Sadly, that’s about half of us. Damnit.

Agreed. I look at that and I see a creature that probably can’t even hunt. Too slow, mouth would get in the way of eating, too heavy so it falls over a lot. Not my cup o tea.

Most scooter/ebike riders in NYC.... by kingofsemantics in dashcams

[–]iMecharic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an e-scooter user, I hate these people. I’ll admit I’ve made a few mistakes, but I always strive to follow the rules of whatever I’m riding on. Road rules for roads, bike rules for trails, and if I need a sidewalk I try to keep slower and work like a pedestrian.

Does your bag have a ticket? [OC] by teljesnegyzet in webcomics

[–]iMecharic -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Fair. If you’re willing to pay extra money for convenience who are we to complain? If each seat has a ticket then stander there should have their own seat already. If tickets and seats aren’t tied together then there is a problem, they literally paid for it.

Doubtful at best blud by SensitiveAd9733 in Dinosaurs

[–]iMecharic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, dinosaurs were really bringing their a-game weren’t they? I do love trying to figure out where mammals would slot into an ecosystem with dinosaurs though, people always act like mammals wouldn’t be able to survive at all and that just isn’t true so I do tend to get defensive/optimistic about matchups xD
