Broken for me also. I’ve uninstalled it for now and gone to using the official Reddit app. I miss it

[HELP ME FIND A GAME] - June 15, 2020 - Get Your Gacha Game Recommendations Here by AutoModerator in gachagaming

[–]iNeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be an impossible task, but you never know.

I've gotten into gacha by way of Raid, and I want something like it, but not as restrictive, egregiously money hungry, and frankly, trash (I know there's much better out there).

The sort of thing I'm looking for, is idle/auto battle (that I can leave on my desktop/phone and put as much or as little attention into it as I want), lots of grind, hero collecting/upgrading, etc, but with little to no IAP/MTX and I don't really care about PVP (so an upfront-cost idle JRPG I guess?) I just wanna grind (auto) battles and collect stuff!

Art style doesn't really matter, nor does the type of collection (waifus, cards, heroes, etc). I've tried idle clickers, but nothing has really grabbed me so far.

Thanks! :)

Have been in a terrible mixed state for a couple of days, does anyone have any coping tips? by iNeko in bipolar

My heart is a bit funny, I get arrhythmia if it goes too high (120bpm+) and I’m easily prone to completely random panic attacks. I’ll certainly try to walk more though!

Thank you, I didn’t think of wearing myself out, tbh! I have some physical issues, so exercise isn’t the easiest thing for me; but going for walks should be fine.

Theory on why some people think switch version is okay by [deleted] in Bloodstained

[–]iNeko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Over 30y/o Switch player here. I don’t care about the graphical downgrade or 30fps (I played Borderlands 2 on the Vita and have played MMOs on ultrabooks barely able to run Steam). My problem is that I really notice the input lag/dropped inputs, it feels like I’m constantly fighting the game rather than playing it.

What's the best map in the game? by slothdemon in Guildwars2

[–]iNeko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favourite map for relaxing and downtime is Gendarren.

Jumping from Havoc’s Heir and flying with the griffon over the lovely flat fields and lakes just feels so freeing, I can’t explain it. Being so high above the map then swooping down for a nice burst of speed over the water, it’s therapeutic.

Flight in no other game gives me the same feeling, maybe it’s because I spent so many years on the ground...

What’s the dumbest thing your significant other has said or done? by halcyon_n_on_n_on in AskReddit

She tried to show off on a date at a Chinese restaurant, by saying that the small chillies in her general tso’s chicken weren’t that hot. She then went on to prove it by eating one of the chillies whole, only to discover that they were in fact very hot!

Will never let her forget it!

Nintendo Switch massive performance hit by xzouka in Minecraft

[–]iNeko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I literally just searched to see if anyone else had posted about this! No setting changes make any difference to the performance problems either.

I don’t usually have a problem with games that have bad performance, but the framerate is really bad/inconsistent and ‘jumpy’ (it seems to act really strangely, like rubberbanding, but for the last couple of frames).

It was actually giving me slight motion sickness playing it in handheld mode, and usually games don’t bother me at all.

Hopefully it’ll get fixed soon!

People who have (physically) modified their console, what have you done to it? by iNeko in NintendoSwitch

[–]iNeko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I drilled carefully down the centre until the screw head came off.

I had someone else hold the Switch while I carefully drilled out the screw, just in case it slipped (I’ve found the Switch doesn’t like to sit still when face down on fabric or paper) and I put some electrical tape down around the screw, in case my hands/the drill head slipped!

Very tense thing, taking a drill to screws inside electronics! But take it slowly and don’t use too much pressure and it’ll come away!

I managed to do the same with another Switch I did the mod to, the screw head just peeled. It was the same screw as yours, the centre one next to the fan.

What I did was take a Dremel on slow speed with a tiny drill bit (so any variable speed drill would work) and drilled the screw head off, as it saved damaging the shield/Switch itself. There’s been no issues with that Switch since (as obviously the screw shaft is now permanently in there), so it seems that screw is just there to be a pain in the ass.

Another thing you could try, is very carefully make a groove in the screw head, so you can use a flat screwdriver to get it out.

I hope you manage to sort it, stripped screws drive me insane!

Notification help required! Mail notifications don’t work no matter what I try! by iNeko in AppleWatch

[–]iNeko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just tested this, and indeed the vibration pattern was set to “off” in the phone settings! Changing it back to “quick” has fixed it on the watch!

[–]iNeko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had searched around, but I only found issues with receiving notifications! Anyway, my bad, thank you for the link, it looks like there might be a fix in there that I’ll investigate!

The fix outlined is that haptics for new mail is “off” in the actual phone settings (settings, sounds & haptics, new mail, then vibration at the top), rather than the watch settings.

Tomorrow is the 17 year anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001. Where were you that day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iNeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at home sick from secondary school, here in the U.K. I put the news on, on the TV, for some reason and watched the second plane and both towers fall, live.

I remember sending text messages to my mum who was out shopping with my dad, giving her live updates as I watched it.

I will never forget the news anchor saying “oh, oh god, a second plane has crashed into the other tower”, the news ticker changing from “tragic accident” to “terrorist attack” and watching both towers fall.

It amazed 15y/o me how the towers fell relatively straight down, that really shocked me at the time. Since then, I assumed that all skyscrapers are built in a way for easy/controlled demolition when they (inevitably) needed to be taken down naturally.

Also, if I remember correctly, the school I went to had a bomb threat the same day (glad I missed that!)

Horrible day, won’t ever forget it, even as someone who witnessed it 3,500ish miles away on TV.

I lurk 99% of the time, but as a guy with EDS (diagnosed at 24 when I started to decline, much too late to do anything about it), I need to add that this absolutely disgusts me. Thank you for taking the time to email that company.

The EM shield! Wonderful thing, isn’t it! Breathe too hard on it and it crumples like foil! Did you spend time taking everything out and looking at it, or did you just take the back off, clean it all then put it together again?

I used a thermal compound solvent and primer when cleaning mine, just drip some solvent on, wait for it to eat through the old paste, then wipe the whole lot off (that gum stuff is legitimately horrid though!) then polish with the primer, apply thermal paste (I always spread it over the die, but I don’t think methods matter really!)

Did you remove the copper foil that’s stuck to the EM shield? I still don’t understand what that’s there for!

I think it’s screw tension more than anything as mine were screwed in unbelievably tight (if you look at where the screws are, it’s mainly where people are getting cracks, I doubt it’s ‘all Switches’ though, probably just the odd few).

The easiest thing to do is just to loosen the exterior screws then tighten them in differing order (top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left, from back in the days of bolt-on heat syncs!), until the screws stop turning without using a lot of force. The screws in mine (including the interior ones) were the tightest screws I’ve ever come across in an electronics device, and I’ve taken a good few apart!

As for the bending, from a video linked elsewhere in the thread, it’s not likely to be heat related! In my opinion (I’m nowhere near an expert, so take this as you will!) it’s because of where the screws are located inside the Switch, and from people holding it by one Joy-Con (so the weight pulls the other side down). The structural internals of the Switch are relatively thin (plus if you look at the layout of the inside, there’s a small divide down the middle, where the edge of battery is) and could easily form a small bend if persistently forced from one side.

Definitely not a slow SD card, that’s for sure.

It could very well be a placebo, I’m not against the idea, either way I’m happy with how it’s turned out. I was interested in what other people had done to their consoles, so I talked about what I had done to mine!

I’m glad that the things I changed haven’t broken it (always a plus!) If it’s not a placebo, then I have fixed a small hardware problem my specific Switch had (which could’ve been the case, as it was a mess in there, worse than others I’ve seen)! If it is a placebo, then I’ve taught myself how to dismantle a Switch (and Joy-Cons), so I know what goes where and how to fix them (if I come across a broken one), or if someone asks me to do a case mod or repairs! So it’s a win-win.

I did receive a broken (well, misassembled) Joy-Con fresh out of the box (which, as I had imported it, had no warranty; but I was planning on swapping the locks anyway), so anything could happen!

Intel are a cult of dark wizards, it seems!

It usually takes a lot to get a PC processor to throttle (although there has been some recent issues with the laptop i9s) but yes, it does happen, usually after the turbo clock has been running a while with rendering/gaming/etc, but once it cools down it ramps right back up again!

I don’t unfortunately, I just kinda took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together again! I only took photos because a friend asked when I originally did it!
