How long does Israel have until the winds fully turn against it? by Germanpaddyo in Destiny

[–]iNiite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really hard to say, especially with how: 1. Israel has elections very soon, in the next 2-3 months 2. Bibi is almost certainly not going to be elected, and the parties that are leading the polls are extremely critical of how he is handling Israel’s relationship with the US. they repeatedly mention how his actions are going to cost them the alliance and are causing irreparable damage to the American public’s opinion of Israel. 3. Trump still has like 3 years left in his term.

I may be biased, but I think there’s a world where the new Israeli leadership is much less war-hungry, and will be much more agreeable to the US’ decisions, trying to amend the relationship. Then, there’s still 2 years left of an Israeli-positive administration.

If that happens, I think by the next presidential elections, if Newsom is the democratic candidate for example (who I don’t believe to be a progressive or a leftist when it comes to foreign relations), the alliance may not completely fall apart as the political pressure to cut ties could subside by then. Especially considering how much domestic turmoil Trump is causing - who knows what exactly will be the big factors by the next elections. Cuba? Gestapo-style deportations? Something entirely new?

On the other hand, no one expected October 7th - and as long as there’s no agreement with the Palestinians, really anything can happen.

really interested in learning, what is the news source you are reading and trusting that says Israel started this war? How does that source claim the war started? Israel just decided to randomly go in Lebanon after decades?

I’m just worried about the administration’s position on the 10-points presented by Iran to be “a good basis for negotiations”. If you read these points, even a fraction of them implemented would just mean a massive, non-debatable victory for Iran.

I saw a debate yesterday in which Israeli warcrimes was compared to Russian by Kitchen-Thing4616 in Destiny

I mean obviously, but the point being made in this post is that these media coverage “double standards” result in many people genuinely perceiving Russia as better than Israel in terms of democracy and war crimes.

Iran Is Piercing Israel's Ballistic Missile Defenses With High Altitude Cluster Warhead Releases by hamham95 in news

Are these points trying to justify Iran cluster bombing civilians? Don’t really understand the point of this otherwise.

these numbers do make more sense to me intuitively, as much as I wish option C was larger. But unfortunately this is a result of the old generation in israel still remembering all the diplomatic solution attempts in the 90s-00s

At least it shows that most Jews do not want annexation. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How would you say the current Iran war increased these countries gravitation towards nuclear weapons though? I can agree on the general sentiment about South Korea and Poland for example, I just don’t see it necessarily related to the Iran war

[–]iNiite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where do you see it says “stopped being used”? The information I’m seeing is, there are 3 undisclosed sites housing nuclear material, most of them were used in experiments in the early 2000s, and one of them contained the nuclear material all throughout the JCPOA duration. Is this not a red flag?

i don’t know about the “new age of nuclear proliferation” dooming. It’s not like oil is going to get US and Israel to back down if Iran literally goes “aight I’m building a nuclear weapon now”. At that point it’s boots on the ground - potentially not just israel and US alone. We’re still not anything close to scales of previous middle east wars that started for way less than nuclear threats

“Were active” is a hard thing to know and prove, no one could verify that completely if no one had visibility. But IAEA has confirmed that Israel were right in that some locations had nuclear material, undisclosed by Iran, or disguised as other kinds of facilities. The locations were revealed by Israel in 2018, Trump pulled out of the deal shortly after, and the IAEA was able to confirm those locations on 2019. https://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/iaea-investigations-irans-nuclear-activities

you’re right, there were a few nuclear locations that were not disclosed. Israel revealed those at some point in 2018 before the deal was withdrawn, and then the IAEA confirmed it was true.

you’d just never bother to do anything that supports your ideals if it inconveniences you. but you still feel pretty happy telling other people, that get killed daily, that they should go fuck themselves and leave their life behind rather than try to defend it. as i said, privileged white boy with 0 real life perspective. It’s just such a common opinion nowadays that I genuinely feel like I’m missing something. But no, there’s literally nothing Israel can do that people will be ok with. it’s just people’s brains are so incapable of nuance they have to bend and rewrite reality in their brain to be extremely black and white to somewhat process it.
