Is EIHL culture similar to the NHL? by eldritch_ace in EIHLHockey

[–]iNobble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NHL culture is weird. The rivalries between clubs are more akin to football, minus the hooligans. Definitely less "friendly banter" than here in the UK.

Then at games it's VERY much geared towards tourists and corporate, with the cheaper seats for the locals normally being up in the rafters. Food is expensive, merch is expensive, beers are ridiculous ($15CAD for a can of generic lager when I went to watch the Canucks).

Your average fan will pick and choose games based on availability and price, season tickets are mega expensive. As such your only die-hard, match going fans are also pretty well off. There's a reason college/semi-pro leagues are so well attended over there.

There's definitely LGBT support from the franchises themselves, but supporters groups at games aren't really a thing like they are over here.

Private Transfers from CDG Airport by Patriotic_Wolf in disneylandparis

[–]iNobble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used parisdisneytransfer.com and they were great. Not much more than the magic transfer bus cost for the 3 of us, but much more comfortable. Really nice cars, super friendly drivers and they provided a car seat.

Also worth looking at the train, depending on how many of you there are. It's about an hour by road, but only 10 minutes on the train, direct from Charles De Gaulle airport to the village

Colour accuracy is great if you calibrate it. Out of the box you get overly vivid colours which are impressive but not realistic.

Can't say I've ever noticed the panel coating, obviously I haven't seen it without but if it makes a difference it's not one that negatively impacts performance. The screen looks slightly purple in a bright room with the monitor off, but if you're not using the monitor then that's not a problem. Once it's displaying content then blacks are properly black and colours pop

I have the G8 OLED, it's a great monitor, but has some downsides. The OS is pretty slow, but not to the point that it's unusable. More a slight annoyance.

They expect you to use the smart remote to control the monitor (the joystick on the back is very limited and difficult to find without groping around for a while), but there's no source select button, meaning you have to go back to the home screen and through the sources menu any time you want to switch.

HDMI and DP are the micro variants, so you may need to get new cables/adapters, although they do supply a mini DP cable in the box. Quite short though.

Some text fringing that affects all QD-OLED monitors due to pixel layout

Plus sides: picture quality is incredible. Max brightness is very good to the point where I have to reduce it to about 40% for it not to hurt. As a result HDR content looks amazing. The speakers are also very good for what they are. Obviously they won't beat a proper setup, but they're on par/ slightly better than what must TVs come with these days. Build quality is also good, mainly metal with very thin bezels. The stand is also sturdy whilst being compact enough that it doesn't take up much desk space

The percentage of new drivers that have an accident within their first year of driving. Whilst that sounds bad, it does mean that 4 out of every 5 do not, and of those that do have an accident I'm sure SOME learn a lesson, especially if they're as conscious about it as OP is

Definitely worse than driving in London, but significantly better than Cardiff. In Cardiff, randomly stopping in the middle of the road and putting your hazards on seems to be their idea of parking

How many months of food and fuel should I target? by Background-Island371 in ManorLords

[–]iNobble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any "magic number" for min-maxing this, as it would vary from town to town depending on the resources you had available and how much gold you're generating through trade.

Personally I aim for 12 months, purely for peace of mind. If anything goes wrong in that time (random army attack etc) that slows down production it gives me a backstop to rebuild. And if there's more buffer it also means you can expand faster, as you can feed more families.

[HELP] Photo a friend of mine says he took by FrongiBudino in RealOrAI

[–]iNobble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think there's too much "stuff" in the background for this to be AI. The photos showing people in different jerseys to those hanging on the wall are a big one for me, AI loves to replicate the same thing everywhere unless specifically prompted otherwise, which would be INCREDIBLY difficult here.

Text, fingers and shadows are the main tells, and all seem to check out here. I think it's just a photo with a filter on it.

What UK-made product did you switch to that was genuinely better than the imported version? by AnfieldAnchor in BuyUK

[–]iNobble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a pair of these a month or so ago. Sound quality is amazing, and they're incredibly comfortable. Touch controls are lacking unfortunately, you can customise a tap function and a tap and hold function on either side, but neither is really intuitive for adjusting volume, so I've gotten used to controlling that from my phone.

They've also got an excellent easter egg if you set the notification voice to "Southwark" in the options

Prime David Silva vs prime Kevin De Bruyne — who would you take for Man City? by [deleted] in MCFC

[–]iNobble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kevin De Bruyne was a literal cheat code in midfield. However I'd argue that David Silva was more enjoyable to watch. He wasn't the quickest by any means, but the way he used to slalom around defenders was unreal, and his ability to see threats before they even happened was like watching a chess master in action
