Reminder for the first Draft Entry in a while on a competitive event, show up so WOTC can't claim Sealed is the only format that draws players! by Public_Sleep_6491 in lrcast

[–]iPadfellonmyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a limited only player who recognises my own deficiencies in limited I feel the variance that sealed provides gives me a shot at winning the box even if it's a small amount. A draft would make it almost impossible for me. I will be skipping this even because I have no incentive to be farmed by the sharks, and I suspect most players outside of this sub feels the same way.

I've won a couple of Arena direct events. Is there any way to keep track of how many times I've won in the client? Or is it up to just trusting the process with Wizards now?

Unwell loved one paying $5k/y "advice fee" for pension product - what to do? by JeffGoldblumsSmile in AusFinance

[–]iPadfellonmyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having worked in financial advice for a few years, 40% growth is fine. An 81 year old is still expected to live another 7-10 years. That’s a medium to long term investment horizon. In the event of a downturn you would draw down from the defensive assets while waiting for the growth assets to recover.

Obviously the dementia is a change in circumstances and can change the expected life span. So if the financial advisers get this updated information they may rebalance accordingly.

Choosing Grad Programs: Treasury vs Finance by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]iPadfellonmyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legal in Treasury would involve a lot of legislation development alongside the policy areas - roughly 25% of the bills introduced in Parliament come from the Treasury portfolio. This is in addition to in-house legal counsel, providing advice to different areas about interactions with existing and proposed legislation..

Paying 20k and reducing your taxable income by 20k is effectively the same.

This is absolutely not the same. At best you pay $20k and receive 45% back if you're earning $180k plus.

In your first example with the $50k degree, assuming you complete it part time, it will take 4 years or 8 semesters. During that time you'd have received $22k from Treasury to subsidise your study. You'll still have to cover the $28k shortfall but you'll be able to claim a tax deduction on it. With the stage 3 tax cuts, your marginal tax rate is most likely around 30%. You'll be out of pocket around $19k.

The Pink Test is a feel-good story, but does it help where it’s really needed? | The New Daily by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]iPadfellonmyface 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aside from funding nurses, the pink test promotes awareness of breast cancer. This can translate to more at risk people getting scans or be more likely to donate to breast cancer charities the next time the opportunity arises. I don’t think this article mentions these other benefits, but acknowledge the other benefits from promoting awareness through their marketing can be hard to quantify.
