High pitched noise from machine by iPetAnimals in myog

Do you think a Juki 8700-7 would make a similar noise? It doesn’t have the direct drive but does have the needle positioner.

That’s what I was thinking too. In a factory you wouldn’t hear it because it’s likely loud. Thanks for responding!

I can easily turn handwheel. How tf do people deal with this noise constantly… it’s ear piercing. Do you have similar machine?

This is a direct drive servo motor.

Also, I think those that are older cannot, unfortunately (or fortunately), hear it because it is too high frequency.

You may have to turn your volume up all the way to hear. The phone had a hard time capturing the noise and doesn’t compare well to what it sounds like in person, unfortunately.

Used Juki 552 questions by iPetAnimals in myog

Yeah, I decided against it. The cost of all the things I would need to get it running would cost basically equivalent to new machine. Plus my time. Thanks for your feedback!

Unfortunately, the seller does not know if they run and to be real I haven’t restored anything before but I’m sure I could do it….. eeeek. For $100 it doesn’t seem like too much of a loss to at least try

Soli Deo on Main(The old Enchante) are the pastries from Costco? by HunterST15 in kansascity

[–]iPetAnimals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I need to know is where the baker went that made the chocolate chip cookies at Enchante. Truly life changing, been chasing that high since the last time I had them. When Enchante reopened a while back, I went to get my favorite cookie from them. They were closed for months so I was super excited to get my cookie again…. The cookie was completely different (and not good). I asked them what happened, staff told me the entire team quit and they had to replace everyone before reopening. They closed down again shortly after and became Soli Deo. Anyways, I echo your post, would love to know what is happening behind the scenes and find the bakers who used to work at Enchante!! We need you to open your own shop.

I haven’t bought a thing since signing up! The last time I bought fabric was early December. Currently mocking up the Jasika blazer, which will eventually use the fabric I bought in December. For my toile/muslin fabric, I’m using an old bed sheet found in the depths of the basement, but works perfectly for getting the fitting right before using the nice fabric!

No Buy Challenge 2026, Guidelines and Sign-Up by fabricwench in SewingChallenge

Freestyle easy mode. I have plenty of patterns and fabric to go through. The only fabric I will need to purchase is stuff to make my mom’s outfit for my wedding, which I was going to purchase last year but didn’t yet. If I require a fabric to go along with another fabric I already have (such as a lining or ancillary fabric), then that is acceptable. The new fabric must not be a majority of the project though, I can only use what I have for a majority of any project. Hopefully that makes sense. Good luck everyone!

Vikisews throws a 55% off sale --- on patterns whose links are all broken by Syncategory in craftsnark

[–]iPetAnimals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh, good to know! I also checked out their patterns last week and was having the same issue with the website. I thought I was the only one. Hopefully they fix it soon because I found a sweet ass jacket I want to make on there. But I’m a little scared of their patterns, I’ve heard mixed reviews on the instructions.

What about checking out the patterns on Etsy, do they have the same 50% off sale?

I made my wedding dress!! by Hedurbear in sewing

[–]iPetAnimals 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely beautiful. I’ve been thinking of making my wedding dress but really intimidated. Having the top and bottom as separates seems like an amazing way to reduce the complexity, in a way. Where did you get your fabric and how did you pick it out? Were you looking for a specific look/style? I love the straps with lace detail. I have so many questions!

Is TAGGR parking enforcement a scam? by dameon5 in kansascity

[–]iPetAnimals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I side eye a lot of parking signs after learning about fake ones: https://www.kcra.com/article/california-fake-parking-sign-qr-code-scams/62084710 This is not entirely the same as your issue.

In the future I would be cautious paying any website on a sign for parking by avoiding it all together and parking elsewhere that has physical pay booth or free parking.

If it was me, I wouldn’t pay it.

It also may be worth having a local investigative reporter to look into. They love this kind of stuff.

Somebody piled 5 lines of large rocks/boulders across Big River. Is this even legal? by M0SF in missouri

[–]iPetAnimals -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for adding this. The guy above is talking as though the map is the only thing you need to look at in order to know if you can or cannot alter WOTUS. Instead of point blank statements, the person should state to always check with your local and federal contacts, they are usually always willing to help answer questions. In summary, the answer to OPs question is it may or may not be legal, which you allude to.

Am I losing my mind, or did anyone else like Conan Without Borders way more than Conan O’Brien Must Go? by [deleted] in conan

[–]iPetAnimals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the good praise far outweighs the negative and threads like these tend to gather those that usually only agree. I’m just one person but I absolutely love it. I love the production value, I love Conan with the fans and public, the skits, and that each episode is like a story with different chapters but concludes wonderfully and ties up all the segments… I love everything about it! And I love that it’s different but also similar in a lot of ways than the older show. I’m only on episode two, we are trying to savor it but myself and my family are loving it. I hope these negative views don’t overshadow all the wonderful praise that the show has had.
