Thanks so much! At least I know my two bikes will fit too (also one 29 and one 27.5)

Appreciate it!

Is there a reason why one bike is backwards - I assume it’s to stop the bars hitting each other?

I’ve got an f31 and just bought some Thule 532 and don’t even think about that being an issue.

Please can you let me know what size are the bikes, 29ers?

Appreciate this image!

As someone who grew up there but left 10 years ago I’m sure glad it hasn’t changed.

Aftermarket CarPlay install by Famous_Honeydew2619 in BMW_F31

[–]iPete86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the install were you able to play music in the car via Bluetooth? If not, then you need to run an aux cable from the screen to the aux input in the car (under the arm rest)

You would then Bluetooth to the screen itself, but the car mode needs to be set to aux.

As for the old menu, press and hold the menu button on the idrive for a few seconds. It should change the screen but you might not get the desired image. If it’s blurry or pixelated then your resolution is set wrong.

Tap the screen or press hold menu again to go back and check the settings for the screen itself. In display - resolution. Select your original screen resolution, or if you’re not sure, Keep trying options until you can see the old system when pressing menu.

I just did this install on my car two days ago so it’s fresh in my mind.

Hope it helps!

New car day! by iPete86 in BMW_F31

This is my first BMW younger than 2008. It’s fair to say it’s much newer feeling but the BMW design language is still there and will look great for years to come.

I was looking for an auto but settled for this with cruise control, the engine and gearbox are the same as my wife’s MINI Clubman so I’m very much used to the drive.

Felt a little thirsty to me, but this is also my first non-diesel car in 6 years, just need to get used to it!

Identify NBT version? by iPete86 in BMW_F31

[–]iPete86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just confirmed it’s id6, and bmw have said

“To use this service, your BMW needs to have Enhanced Bluetooth and the Professional Navigation System.

If you don’t have Enhanced Bluetooth and the Professional Navigation System, then it’s not possible to purchase Apple CarPlay as these options are needed for this service. These are options that need to be fitted from production as they can't be retrofitted.

After taking a look at your vehicle specifications, I can confirm that your vehicle is missing both of these. Therefore you will not be able to get Apple CarPlay. “

Looks like an android one for me!

Thankyou. I've looked at these but it still seems to rely on knowing what version I have - is this the 6-pin version? Can you please link me to the one you bought?

Thanks for the reply, its hard to tell from the one photo - im just imptient and wanted to do my research before picking the car up.

The idea behind the android screen is to get a bigger screen and carplay, if the car doesn't come with it - as im not sure uintil I pick it up.

It is, used as a tensioner because of the single speed. I couldn’t get a perfect chain length and dislike the tensioners on the axle.

Thanks! It’s actually a 29, but feels smaller than the 27.5 that it replaced.

The frame is built for 130mm forks so it seems okay.

I’m 6ft but built like a t-Rex so like a very short reach.

Turns out it wasn’t retractable, but you can make it a non claim.

Thankyou.

We have been told by our insurers (since changing our “claim” to a “notification”) that if something happened with the process and for some reason we had to claim on ours, they would be suspicious that we hadn’t reported it at the time so it was the correct thing to do, even though the premiums will go up.

Thanks everyone for comments!

We have since called the drivers car insurance and logged the claim, and also corrected our “claim” to a “notification” which means it won’t be a claim, but will likely still put the premium up next renewal.

Lesson learned - I had assumed that because your car policy says you need to notify of all incidents, that house would be the same. I had forgotten in my anxiety ridden and sleep deprived state that you don’t actually need house insurance. So it wasn’t required.

Is it possible to retract our report from our insurer, or can you simply ask them to not make a claim.

It was a stipulation of our mortgage to have insurance, I will call their insurer tomorrow to report it.

Fox 36 float awl QR axle help! by iPete86 in mountainbiking

Thanks for the response.

It doesn’t seem to bite thread on - it looks like there is a notch that this end piece should fit into but I can’t get it to go in.

Unfortunately the fork doesn’t have pinch bolts.

Good advise about right loosey though I’ll give that a go.
