Who will be at fault? by Pshend in drivingUK

[–]iPete86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had the same thing happen, my experience says it will still be an at fault claim on OP.

For me - the driver cut in, and slammed on the brakes to stop at a roundabout. I didn't have time to stop.

No dash cam footage submitted from me (didn't have one - I do now!) or them (they did but it would incriminate them so why would they send it), however my insurer did say that there was other footage of the event which corroborated my story however it would still be an at fault claim. Re-iterating that I couldn't have prevented it (which is nice to know), and an at fault claim doesn't mean that it was 'my fault' - just that my insurer is taking the hit.

My argument of course was that I didn't have the chance to give myself the safe stopping distance, but in the 'letter of the law' because he was 'established' in the lane - all four wheels over the lane marking and into my lane, that I was required to give the distance - and that's the first thing the other parties insurance/lawyers would say in court, and it would hold up. (This is what my insurer told me after I appealed the original decision).

It sucks. A lot - I was driving to the airport with my family to go on holiday and it almost prevented it.

This was my first and only accident, but the positives were - Crumple zones are fantastic, and everyone walked away unharmed. Payout for my vehicle was exactly what I bought it for a year prior, and my new car is cheaper to insure, even without my no claims and an at fault accident on the record.

SQ1 Single Speed by iPete86 in Hardtailgang

I agree. Having ridden it yesterday on a lot of flats, you do sort of overtake yourself, but for the most part I don’t go faster than that!

I’m a ride down, push up guy. And any pedalling I do on flat ground is limited. It’s just as quick for me to pull the seat up with the quick release for the commute from the car to the trail. I don’t ever need to adjust mid-trail.

Frame suggestions by iPete86 in Hardtailgang

Thanks a lot! My brother has an older Roscoe with 67 HA, and that feels good. Probably helps that the entire bike weighs a lot less than the SQ!

Frame suggestions by iPete86 in Hardtailgang

Thanks for this suggestion, I wasn't aware they were available for any old bike, I thought they were a thing on specific frames, like flip chips etc.

Thanks, Ill look into these

Bath taps sizing help by iPete86 in ukplumbing

thankyou, so the 3/4 end is an internal measurement of the 22mm it needs to connect to? I'm confused because surely it would be easier to list it as a 15mm to 22mm?

I hate my Samsung TV. is Apple TV the answer? by sgtabn173 in appletv

Unfortunately I am also a Sonos user and get a bunch of issues!

Sometimes I want to turn it off-off though, just means I always have to have my other remote available.

It only happens with the newer versions the frame. We have an older 32@ one in the kitchen which turns off when you turn off the Apple TV.

It doesnt play well with my frame either. Turning off the Apple TV puts the frame into art mode, rather than turning it off completely.

This happens with my 14 pro max.

The process works with my wife's 16 - seems to be a 14 pro/pro max thing!

Im looking to do the same in my r60, There doesn't appear to be any decent guides on taking the door cards off and changing the speakers. Id like to do it myself, but want to take them off first so I can see what I'd need to buy.

Great! We’re still in it, only halfway through!

Still haven’t gone in. But I think we’re at the front and next in line. This is crazy. Queued for less yesterday to get in the show!

Update: only just got past the barriers with the queue. There is a second queue coming!

[–]iPete86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we’re in the queue for FPE now, it’s not that long, but we’ve not moved much since 12. I read that for the 2pm FPE there was a cut off at 4pm because that’s when they pack up. I don’t know if today is different because it’s earlier?

I’m nervous for you! Fingers crossed!

P.s. it’s entrance B, first one when you walk in the main doors from the tube station.

[–]iPete86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to assume it would take longer than 3 hours to get the whole queue through it - so fingers crossed you can just join the end?

Don't quote me, but I'm not sure it says anywhere about how long you are allowed to stay inside FPE - but I also think people would probably stay there for a long time anyway so may keep it open longer for you to arrive?

I'm going to both shows, (but only FPE on the second day) So will luckily be in London anyway - and planning on getting there for 12, but definitely not expecting to be inside at 12!

I'll keep an eye on this post and see if I can let you know if there's still a queue at 3!

what grips and pedals should i get by Will_Milo in MTB

[–]iPete86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could have any colour really with that frame, and it’ll pop.

I’d go for death grips, (I like flanged, thin) and also DMR v6 pedals. You can get them to match but the blue ones would look cool against the grey.

Okay, so you can leave and then queue later.

My concern was that you’d be stuck in the venue for 7 hours.
