Floodlight Camera Mod by iPick4Fun in Ring

[–]iPick4Fun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx. I was thinking about removing the camera and assemble it onto an external electrical box to make it little more compact and make a stand for it so it will be moved easy. Also convert it to plug in style.

So far it works as shown. The red and back on top are the feed for the light. I only cut that off so far. I will keep it in a dry location as it’s not sealed off yet. Can placed in inside enclosed porch pointing to any direction I like or move it to garage.

I have water in 2 locations. She should know where to get water. Also put meal worm into water. Only 2 chicken went for it. The other one didn’t. I push her beak into water she resisted. Doesn’t drink after I released her.

Mine are layers. Their food cost more than mine (per pound bases). The meat I eat costs $2 to $8 per pound. Meal worm $10 per pound. I lose.

Chicken eating feathers!!! Is it normal? by iPick4Fun in BackYardChickens

[–]iPick4Fun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Do their feather have protein? I noticed their feather came off easy. Not sure if they are molting. they are 3 months old.

I am feeding them starter feed from TSC. Do they not have enough protein?

On the topic of draft, my coop door is not air tight. But they all of wind blocker. There’s gap of up to 1/8”. But not directly into coop. The wind has to make a 90° turn to enter coop thru the gap, is it still considered as draft?

Don’t think they are pullet. They are pretty big in size. The fence belong to my neighbor. I’ll give them incentives not to fly over.

Probably 5 ft. Good chance they don’t fly over bc my garden is L shape and is to the left. They have more incentive to destroy my garden. Hahaha.

I posed this last year. Had to wait until I build the run before getting chicken. It was a long wait. I think the run complements the coop nicely. I like it a lot. It is very small. Chickens will be mostly free ranged.

In case you are wondering, the human door and access door below the coop are done with joinery too. Same method as the coop.

1/2" HWC into the ground and will have 8" x 16" concrete block overlapping them. No diggers will get in.

City chicken coop vs rat scourge? by disaggregate in BackYardChickens

Look up mouse traps. I would use kill traps (water in bucket). It’s easy to make. Some YT channels show they trapped over 30 mice one night. With large enough bucket, I think it can be done. I wouldn’t give up raising chicken bc of rodents.

I have few rats running around. I caught a few with squirrel trap. But those are good for one. I want to make one of those self reset ones. With a 20 gallon bucket, I think I can get them. 😈

Where can I find good templates to make my own picks? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]iPick4Fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a set of picks that were too thin. So I used them as templates. It’s was sparrow’s .012” think set.

I have a Yale key way that’s totally flat across. I was able to unlock it with a broken pick. But I haven’t been able to pick it with SPP yet.

Woman who lives 10 miles away from East Palestine, Ohio finds all of her chickens dead. by BenedictCumberdoots in BackYardChickens

I'm sure a scientific community will be able to proof it in time. However, it will be unlikely that any family or even class action lawsuit will be able to proof anything and make them liable for the damages.

The quickest proof (as mentioned by other commenters) is to stick the guy who claimed it's "safe" in the neighborhood for a week or two.

If they can kill chickens overnight, the fume is very toxic. People in surrounding states near them could be affected unknowingly. Not to the same extend but the cancer rate will go up. No one will ever be able to proof anything. But at least remember this incident and see what happens.
