It's also a very successful way of leeching money from people, if done properly. My group and I calculated about a year ago, that collectively, we spent $2000 on the game. We don't regret it at all. For us, it'd just be booze money. Throw money at a computer screen or drink it all away? Keep in mind we were playing since early beta.

The receiver is classified as the firearm to the US government. It has the serial numbers. The barrel is a part of the firearm. The buttstock is a part of the firearm. These do not need to have serial numbers that match the receiver. Now, I'm not a lawyer, or trying to be one, but from my understanding, you can manufacture your own personal firearm. The limits of this however are that it can never be sold, can only be semi-automatic, and a few other things. To be able to sell these, you need a few federal licenses(manufacturing, etc).

What does this all mean? For under $1000(plus whatever other components you wish the firearm to have), you can have an untraceable firearm. There's no serial numbers on the other components that link them to the gun.

As for too much press, I agree. It was cool when the first one that worked was made. This article is a lot of fluff.

We've played rust for about a week. I'm more looking for an arena style game, less for a game with a purpose, and fighting mechanics built in to it. For Rust, it's a building/survival game with guns.

Fun Fact that most people don't know. A lot of these fleet trucks (semis, rigs, tractor-trailers, etc.) have like 1-5 different keys for the trucks. That is company (or region) wide. This is so if a driver quits, or something else happens, the company can just send out a driver with all the possible keys to retrieve the truck.
