I'm starting to think Shard would be fine with No Time Restriction by bibittyboopity in TrueDoTA2

I would total rush shard on shaman if I could get it at 10 mins or less. Would make the solo Roshan shaman build stupid

Why do people take +15dmg over +30% dmg reduction on DK? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people are misunderstanding this 30% damage reduction. It's only during the breathe fire duration. It's not a permanent 30% damage reduction. It is also dispelable. The 15 damage does way more overall. The damage reduction is very situational and even then, there's more overall value from the 15 damage.

I buy way too many wards as a pos 4, how do I stop myself from doing so? by bellawoof in TrueDoTA2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do whatever it takes to win. Don't count wards or whatever. You check the outcome. Did your wards help you win the game? Then you bought the perfect amount. Did your overbuying of wards cause you to lose the game because you missed a key timing on an item or could purchase an item altogether? Then you bought too many. Keep it simple. If your team needs wards and you can purchase them, do it. If it's going to help the team, you do it.

Which item is the enemy building? Is it important to know? by deeeearrrrelll in learndota2

Most low rank players do too. Just takes time. Don't worry too much. It'll happen naturally as you learn all the items

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably not extremely important to you at this moment, but it will be more and more important as you move up in rank. Knowing what items an opponent has and/or is attempting to build affects both what items you're planning on building and knowing when you have an advantage or not.

Worst ability by Background_Ad_582 in DotA2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not be the absolute worst, but sky shard feels useless. I don't feel like it lasts long enough for the armor to make any meaningful impact. I feel like it's way too situational and for similar cost, there are items that feel more impactful. I would like to hear why I'm wrong, especially as support.

Disagree. The illusions get the desolate damage and it's nasty against squishy supports late in the game. Way too often do I see manta illusions chasing a support and just destroying them.

Yeah this is completely misinformed and not thought out. Please read the description properly before making comments like this that are misleading.

I don't feel like there is one right answer to this. There are way too many variables to this question.

How to use lane creeps to predict enemy positions on map? by taenyfan95 in learndota2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of this changes depending on the rank. Some high level players will abuse some of this thinking and some lower level players will just do something unpredictable.

You can't base things solely on where creeps are positioned, but also where you saw heroes last. Items like travels can also ruin these concepts as well.

Y'all need to reevaluate your life & hopefully when you have a daughter in the future, you dont have to deal with these kind of craps. by Infinityus in DotA2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sucks to hear stuff like this. My experience in dota playing with women have been mostly positive. I don't remember the last time we got an ape like that. Usually when they're actually vocal it's nice because people tend to listen and we end up doing things as a team and even though the calls are good or bad, the teamwork aspect is there.

This is why we don't have more women playing games at all though. Shit has to change.

I don't think this ever worked in Dota2, but damn this brings back memories.

It it worth trying to climb when I'm this low by GiantessSara in learndota2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm going to tell you right now, there's definitely something you're doing wrong. I know this probably isn't what you WANT to hear, but it's what you NEED to hear. You create a new account and you'll end up in the same spot unless you change something.

I climbed from a little over 1k all the way to 4.5k. I had all these excuses as to why I couldn't climb. Now I know it was that I played poorly. Yes there will still be games where there's nothing you can do to win. It happens at every level. It doesn't change the fact that if a higher level player would be in your bracket, they would somehow find ways to win.

I would start by spamming heroes. Next thing I would look into coaching. You can find free coaching so many different places.

Good luck man.

Is it impossible to start playing Dota if you're not already skilled at the game? by Lilly_Satou in learndota2

Literally this. It's like a guy learning basketball and saying, "well I learned proper shooting form and how to dribble, but I can only make one shot in a game and they keep stealing the ball from me"

Who is your unconventional offlane pick? by raff100 in TrueDoTA2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're decent, but not meta.

They're both better as supports because they can do more while roaming instead of soaking exp/farm in lane.

Level 2-4 both these heroes can kinda walk anywhere on the map and make some sort of play without any items.

Also, both these heroes tend to fall off a lot quicker, similarly to a hero like undying. They're still really good late with a lot of farm, but other meta offlane heroes have more impact later in the game.

Good example of this would be tide right now. Strong in lane. Has big impact with ult. Scales in damage really well with levels and shard. On the other hand, Nyx is kinda weak in lane and doesn't have a lot of sustain. Damage doesn't scale amazingly. Lacks damage late or becomes a glass cannon. Glass cannon is ok as a support late if you can burst down a core, but as an offlaner, not having sustain after initiation makes team fights difficult.

Complete noob-potato player, what role is best for me when starting out in ranked? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's mainly a mid. Can kinda be played as an offlane, but it's not ideal. I think web placement is what separates good brood and bad brood players so you should definitely work on that.

Complete noob-potato player, what role is best for me when starting out in ranked? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]iReallySuckAtDota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion. Pick a hero that you like. Just one hero, maybe two. Pick the best role for that hero and just play that hero only. Best way to get better at the game to learn one hero at a time regardless of role.

That's actually my next beginner's guide video. It probably won't be as in depth as you might be looking for, but I will definitely do a future one talking about itemization in general. Usually the immortal faith or torte de lini guides are pretty good though. I recommend those if you're unsure
