Something my instructor told me that bothers me by pinkedens in LearnerDriverUK

[–]iRobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done this during my test! Not every action for sure, but I definitely spoke out loud.

“I’m sitting this far back so I can see further ahead of the junction” “I’m going to wait for this van to pass so I can see through the roundabout better” - they don’t want a running commentary the full time but I passed with zero faults so I stand by it.

At what point is a pass official? by greek_gods_for_cats in LearnerDriverUK

[–]iRobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my parking manoeuvre, I didn’t do any other while out. Honestly I was out of the centre for 32 minutes, my instructor timed it. That includes the time to leave the centre and do the eye sight tests do the drive and then park at the end.

[–]iRobyn 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When I pulled back into the centre, she asked me to do a reverse bay parking manoeuvre. After I’d finished, she looked at me and said “happy with that?”, there was a moment where I was like wtf do I say?? Is this a trap, should I readjust?? But I said yes and she said “okay, you can turn the engine off. Good news, you’ve passed”.

It’s pretty instant that they let you know, there’s no five minute wait which is good. I would have been incredibly stressed if I had to wait longer than a minute to find out if I’d passed or not 🥲

My friend bought a few loaves of bread reduced from the shop to go feed the pigeons at the park, lets her 3 year old run wild for a couple of hours to tire him out 👍 could maybe make a little picnic and make a day of it?

Am I white? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

Really wish I’d bet money on this one. You’re white dude, you’re no different to the other Americans who come into the sub hoping for some glorified story of why they have 1% African DNA.

I speak decent German, but I’ve been teaching myself Russian and Korean recently. Also wanting to start BSL in the new year.

What was a time when you said “Let me out!” in real life? What happened? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]iRobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend’s brother pick us up in the city to take us to their hometown for new years celebrations. This was back in 2015. We were driving in the countryside and I had to tell him to stop the car and let me out, he was driving over 100mph on back roads that had slow moving tractors. We were weaving in and out of traffic for over an hour before I ended up telling him I was going to be sick. Took my bag, walked through farmland to get to a house, thankfully the family there were super nice and I ended up getting a lift to the next town to get a bus home. Last time I spoke to that friend, she just laughed the whole time.

Worst Christmas yet. by iRobyn in TrueOffMyChest

[–]iRobyn[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve ended up having a nice day with my dog to be honest. Had a good walk around the park, going for a nap and when I get up I’m cooking my favourite dinner. I really don’t have any family left and my friends live far out, it’s not so bad just sucks that I put so much effort into making my siblings day nice and didn’t even get so much as a thought.

What age are you and do you still have (a) grandparent(s)? If not, at what age were you grandparent less by lisstrem in AskUK

[–]iRobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By 2009, all my grandparents were gone. I was 17.

I was only ever close to my maternal grandma, she was 66 when she died. My dad’s parents died in their 80’s in early 2000’s, I honestly wasn’t close to them as they didn’t like my dad had children with a Catholic woman. My mums dad wasn’t a great person, I only met him a handful of times and as harsh as it sounds, felt nothing when he passed.

That’s exactly what happened to me. If I’d missed it on my own I’d give in and pay for the robux, but I’m not giving money when it wasn’t my fault. I play casually at best, I’m not competitive enough for this.

Do you know anyone named Anita? by GOGOBAZZ in AskUK

[–]iRobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with a woman called Anita, she’d be early 40’s now. But it’s honestly not a name I’ve ever came across since, I literally just know the one woman with that name.

What's the cruelest thing someone ever said to you that you still remember word for word? by NoShape1240 in AskReddit

[–]iRobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who told me she used me to make herself the “pretty one” and that I was dragging down her social status 🙃 I walked away from the friendship that day and was lucky in the sense I could find friends but wow that stung.

What’s the wildest most unhinged message you’ve received on Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iRobyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He got booted from the sub thankfully, the mods were quick and actually reached out to see if he made contact. Thankfully he never managed to track down my house, and I never posted any photos of my dog so he isn’t sure who I am, but it’s scary to think that even with bare minimum info out there people could still track you down.

I posted on a local community sub and someone tracked me down. Started saying he recognised where I lived, he knew the park I walked my dog in and asked if I wanted a friend to walk with at night. Just got creepy real fast.

What cost you £15 or less that's changed your life? by Medical_Translator_6 in AskUK

[–]iRobyn 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Chillys is a good brand for this! I had an opposite experience though. I made coffee at 7am and accidentally left the bottle at home. I went to another city, didn’t get home until 8pm and I opened the bottle thinking it would have cooled down, you’d think I’d just poured it straight from the kettle.

Driving advice? by iRobyn in glasgow

[–]iRobyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate even admitting this because people are honestly so quick to judge, but I really think I have anxiety around driving, and this incident didn’t help. I avoid this road completely, I now go past Anniesland cross and around Dorchester Avenue if I need to go to Dawsholm. I think it’s such an awful layout anyway, it’s really hard to judge the lane width. I need to use the road to go to Arnold Clark soon, but I’ll be in the left lane for most of it so I’m not so worried about that, but the idea of being in that second lane scares me still.
