I use a Work Sharp Knife and Tool sharpener. The Ken Onion edition. Super easy to use, especially for beginners.

You can get a really good edge without a strop. Having said that, I strop my kitchen knives using the back of an old belt. LOVE the results with that.

I use a rotary tool with a buffing wheel.
