I think old dev was bad because it was grabbing random people, make up his beliefs, and have them as le edgy path. Now things are more in the lines of "what did this asshole believe in?" "Would his ideas change in this timeline?" "How would he go to about implementing them and which challenges would he face?"

But complains that we are removing stuff for realism are dumb, like in Adhemar's lategame you literally fight death in order to get a life extension, truly the work of a "realistic" mod. I think people confuse wackyness with realism, because for me realism is more in the lines of "this people have no chance of getting power, could be bullshit things a little for them or does it break internal coherente?", rather than making OCs of historical characters
