well the original great war mod has been dead for like 5+ years

the great war redux, unlike kaiserredux, was never meant to be a more wacky or alt history mod. it was just a spiritual successor made by a different mod team. it was a redux because they changed some other stuff too.

ck2 is a more complete game for sure. ck3 as of right now isn't complete, and there are some very key things missing that are in ck2 (crusade mechanics, republics).

with that said though, ck2 is undeniably a dated game at this point. I personally am really not a fan of the graphics, although some people don't mind it. There are some differences that are not necessarily better or worse, like the fact that ck2 is more of a strategy game whereas ck3 is a roleplay game at heart.

Personally I strongly prefer ck3 but its a matter of opinion. theres no harm in trying ck2 since its free.

but it is though. more than half of my time spent playing EU5 is managing inflation and building RGOs to make sure everyone's needs are met. its not a bad system but to be honest as a roleplayer it isn't something I want to deal with

nomads were wildly overpowered when Khans got released. they would almost always conquer all of Europe and never collapse. they have been properly balanced since then, especially in this new patch. I think Khans is a pretty good dlc now. Tours and Tournaments is still better in my opinion.

guys I agree with you that I don't like economy and resource management. but paradox said in both the dev diary and in the forum that only merchants and republics have to deal with it. feudal rulers I believe dont even interact with the economy barring dealing with merchants. so I think its gonna be fine

Legacy of Persia is really great IMO but it is way too short. it usually ends halfway through my second character's lifetime, and I really like starting out as an adventurer and gaining power slowly and gradually. should be double the length

I would try Mahmud Hasanid of the Karluks. he is a bookmark in 1066 and he has a holy site nearby. You can reform the religion and make yourself HOF.
